- I love to fish just for the joy of being in the marsh and testing my wits against nature, but I'm not going to lie: Getting to eat fresh fish is a hell of a fringe benefit. I do all the cooking in my house, and seafood is my favorite protein to prepare, so I constantly try to develop new ways to present it to my family.
A couple weeks ago, I came up with a doozy, and so I set out this week in quest of the main course for my latest catch-and-cook.
Check out the video for all the details, and let me know in the comments section what you think!

Salt Strong (bit.ly/40PercentOffPrawns) - Sport
Hey man, I noticed you missing a lot of fish because of a hookset. I think something that you should try to help that is having your rod tip a little lower when jigging it up, so that you have more time and space to make a hookset. Great video.
Midnight mullet is my best matrix shad color along with the one you throwing and crush city customs gizzard shad and tuxedo cocahoe minnows and Vudu shrimp the brown and gold glitter shrimp all are my winter time go to baits and I fish allot I live in southeast Louisiana in lower lafourche parish in galliano...and I'm hard to beat fishing lol ..
Years ago, when I was in the Pharma Industry,i was incredibly blessed to be able to take docs on chartered trips and I used some of LA'a best guides and one,The Robichaux Charter Guides outta Lafitte, convinced me that black drum were actually better-tasting than their cousins, red drum(AKA redfish)and they certainly were right on!We kept mostly 16-20 inch puppy drum and they were incredible.Nice trip, nice fish!
Love cilantro so definitely going to give the recipe a try. Thanks for the videos
Interesting recipe. I'm always looking for new fish recipes and will give it a try.
I have been a subscriber for a long time now and I have the opportunity to use what i have learned from you when I go to Bayou Bienvenue Jan. 1-3 with my wife and new boat. Thank you for doing what you do and helping people like me learn about the great sport of fishing.
I watched him a long time too. I’m trying to become a CZcamsr too. I love fishing. Bayou bienvenue. Check my videos here: czcams.com/video/TcztcIoeCLA/video.htmlsi=Etr8-5_VlBrw7tiH
Don’t be afraid to bring some live shrimp and fish up against the wall too
Looks good cant wait to try it
Nice, I love it!
Hey mason you should really try the kwigglers ball tail shad and the Mansfield knockers they’re really good you should mad a video on them!
But for redfish a gold weedless spoon is hard to beat if those other lures aren't working especially in the winter
And when fishing a low tide in winter don't rule out a black or purple cocahoe minnow with a white or chartreuse tail it looks similar to a storm minnow which comes out of the marsh when the tide is low or bad weather only usually I always try to figure out what they're feeding on an match the hatch...
Thanks
🔥🔥🔥
Yes he did not sure if that’s the reason he went. I have fished with the guys out of Galveston caught biggest trout in my lifetime. Catch. Handle Gently Picture Return to water . I love catching big specks but also truly love eating 13-15 best eaters to me.
And late season sometimes you have to down size on the baits
I like you showed the struggle.
Definitely tougher than I felt it should have been.
Odd question but those bibs look really warm. Do you happen to know what brand or where you got them? Thanks!
They are awesome!! It's the Shadow Series at habitoutdoors.com. You can use code marshman15 for 15% off your order
Thanks! Just ordered...
Todd I noticed you didn’t get a lot of wind noise when you were filming out in the marsh. I also noticed you aren’t using a wind slayer. How do youkeep the wind noise down so your viewers are able to enjoy you videos and the audio?
It wasnt windy.
That’s funny he complained about how hard the wind was blowing at the beginning of the video.
Apologies if I missed it, what was the water temp? I know you said air temp was in the 40s I think
Thanks

@@MarshManMasson thanks
Are you calling a Bayou what are called creeks here in the marshes of SE NC/
🐸✝️
The new limit is definitely needed it’s proven it will work Do something or we be like Florida or Texas where you catch either 2 or 5
Quantity limit yes, size limit no
Disagree but anything is better than nothing. Its a topic that will never please everyone
The idea of catching 25 is rediculous. That can equate to 10s of thousands a day. The size and bag limit is a reason why Louisiana struggles to produce decent specks. A bag limit of 5 is fine and less would be ok too.
They are not an endless resource. They have been hammered over the last few decades. The technology in rods, reels, boats, electronics have made catching these fish easier for more people. The number of licenses issued has sky rocketed. All that means more limits being caught and a dwindling resource.
@@rainbosprinkles6548 If you agree with limiting the quantity then why are you arguing for limiting the quantity
Texas?!
Didn’t Todd just venture to Tx so he could catch a decent sized speck because y’all can’t produce them over in La?!
Man, I go search for trout and find reds, you do the opposite. Oh well, guess I gotta just go again and see if it switches up.
Any good fisherman knows when you spooking them with a spinner bait throw the spoon and you'll catch em
How do you know during the hunting season that you aren’t on duck hunters property?
Isn’t private property supposed to be posted?
@@alexanderren1097 to my knowledge property does not have to be posted in Louisiana
@@KGdentistry oh. Well that’s messed up
Who’s in Todd’s bed late at night, working up a sweat?
Like you don't know 😉
Mind as well spread a bar of soap on the filets. Cilantro taste like soap to about 20% of people who eat it. Otherwise, the dish looks good.😂
13” limit was a bad idea. Just means a whole lot of anglers are going to be potentially injuring a whole lot of fish in addition to the ones they keep. A 12” limit would mean fewer fish dying
Incorrect. People think speckled trout are delicate because of Florida fishing shows and freshwater trout handling. They can handle plenty of rough handling, even dry rags.
@@eagleeye551 Swallowed hooks, ripped gills, etc
@@askip7 that's a false logic. The same could be said for any size. At 12", the same can be said for the 11".
Louisiana Speckled trout is not doing well. Moving towards conservation is the correct step. Imagine if people stopped having to leave Louisiana for place like Texas to catch trophy trout.
@@rainbosprinkles6548 In the population of fish there is a larger quantity of smaller fish and smaller quantity of larger fish, therefore fishermen will have to catch and release more total fish to fill a limit with a larger minimum than they would have to catch with a smaller minimum. Go back to school before you pretend to understand what constitutes false logic
@@rainbosprinkles6548this year south Louisiana trout fishing has been on fire with a ton of over 20” hammers. It’s the lack of salt that messes up the fishing and it’s clear. We get a rain drought and the water in lake ponchatrain now has a higher salt content and the fish are everywhere in the lake
