How to find fish in unfamiliar marsh

- Every angler has his secret honey holes, the places known only to him that offer a reasonable chance for success. Marsh Man Masson has those as well, but he's always on a quest to locate new ones. What he really LOVES to do is branch out from areas that are familiar into those that have never floated his boat.
He did that at the end of last week. After conducting some map study at home, he went exploring in a section of marsh that isn't easy to get to and really doesn't receive a lot of pressure. The trip started slowly but quickly ramped up, with a variety of species coming over the gunwale.
The trip was an unqualified success, and Marsh Man plans to hit the area again soon to branch out even farther, trying new techniques in addition to the ones that delivered for him on this trip.

Awesome videos!!!! Keep up the awesome videos!!! I’m working in West Texas where there is 0 fishing. Just desert plains. Watching your videos makes me feel like I’m there fishing with you!!! It’s the only thing keeping me sane haha
Zero fishing? Just put me in the straitjacket now! Thanks for watching. Hopefully you can get on the water -- somewhere -- soon.
Nice work ! Nice reds ! There is Seatow and Boat U.S. insurance. Both are good . Boat U.S. seems to be working the Calcasieu Lake area. Seatow, to the east.

It finally gave up the ghost in a later video. On a big black drum, if memory serves.
Great video. Well you know what they say about trash fish...you just haven't had the right COONASS cook it for ya! Iiieee!
Super cool video as always! Just curious as to the area you were fishing? Not looking for precise coordinates; just general area, like off ICW or Hopedale, etc... thanks again.
Another great vid Todd! Quick question...what maps cards do you like for your Lowrance? Just purchased my first one...HDS12...and don't know which card(s) to get. Thanks man!
I use the Standard Mapping Louisiana One card
Thanks for the quick reply man. Appreciate that. That's the card I'm leaning towards but I've heard some folks say you should overlay it with a Navionix. What do you think? Is that a necessity for South Louisiana marsh fishing?
I don't know a ton about the Navionix, but I've heard good things. I've been running with just my Louisiana One card for years, and haven't encountered any problems.
what size test lb you using and thats braid?
You should really try the strike king rage craw
Haven't fished it, but I love the Rage Tail Menace.
What area is that?
Todd how do you get Redfish tags? I have gone through La Creel three times' talked to the guy once still no tags. I used all my old tags in Jan. Asked for 25 new tags in Feb. Do you have a secret on how to get some
No secret. I just order them through taglouisiana.com. I haven't heard about them having fulfillment issues, but will look into it.
never mind he said he will put them in the mail today
P.S.You are really putting out some good shows. luv the pool test
Thanks! I love the pool tests as well. Glad the tag thing worked out.
what area is this?
when the fish is on, how do you know when theres too much drag or you need to loosen it?
Trial and error, I guess. You just learn how much force your line can withstand.
nice crank bait ....post spawn sun fish (perch) .....?????
That's what it was imitating. Definitely did the trick.
Got one similar to for the same effect. South shore bass kill it March and April its funny how it falls off during the summer though. Love the vids brother keep it up.
Man, you're absolutely right. I can't buy a fish on a crankbait when it's warm.
