Floundering is my favorite, and you're right, it's like hunting fish. That's how I've always described it. You do great work, especially on the pool tests. Keep 'em coming, please.
Hey man, awesome video👍 I've never been gigging but I hope to some day soon. The underwater footage was short but awesome!!!
Really enjoyed.thank you. God Bless😎
Awesome underwater shot!!
Great underwater footage!!!!
Awesome video glad you got to come with us. Keep up the great work.
Look at the head on that one! It's crazy 10 years later on youtube, I'd see my old buddy Pig!
Sweet! Definitely on my list to do 👊🤙🎣
Great show there 👍
beautiful moon, with clouds.
I can’t wait til we can start Making this floundering video
Marsh man I have got to build me some spears like that cause I can feel a trip coming on. Great video
Dam thata awesome. Went floundering last night and didnt even see a bed. Lucky dog!
Dustin and Jeremy pay close attention to the weather, so they only go when it's right.
You need go to the Mobile bay to see a jubilee
More success if you use lights below the surface. Obviously these lights shown are not capable of being used underwater doing satisfactory job, but a lot of improvements can be made.
Hello MMM! LOVED the flounder videos! Can you share where to get the Lights and batteries setup you guys were using? They look super light and very bright?
I know where about you're at. Banjos definitely in the background.
Hi that is great way to fish, I was doing it the same many years ago in Europe. What lights you using and what you use for power?
It was fun having you in the boat Todd. We'll have to do it again soon!!
Is the Rigolets bridge a good area to fish for flounder? I only hear about people gigging around here never fishing for them.
@@PeteCrutchfield it's really hard to say....when the flounder are in they can be caught all around the rigolets. But you can also fish all day and not get a bite either. Just have to hit the banks and give it a try.
Jeremy Guidry , Your Flounder gig. I know some folks up in Carriere, Ms that have that same design or something very very close to it. Can you point me in the direction of having one made?
@@chrishunter2007 I had a friend of mine make them for me. I guess you could go to a machine shop and tell them what you wanted made. But I don't know anyone that I could point you to. Sorry
Jeremy you need to try underwater LED lights. Much brighter without glare on the surface and can run all night on a 12v battery.
Man I haven't seen or caught a flounder in couple years at least, watching your vid proves they are still out there though. Think #s are down?
I don't think so. Flounder are much more cyclical than many other fish. The catch has been terrible in the last two or three years, but anglers are bumping into a bunch more of them this fall.
Nice job flounder gigging! Can't beat a night out on the water. If you ever want to upgrade your lights to see more fish, run underwater lights, etc. contact us through our website @t and we'd be happy to help you out!
Use underwater led’s and you’ll lose all of the shadows most of your ripples and see much much clearer
In muddy water that tend to stay on top and not burie up
Floundering & Soft Shelling....go hand in hand..
Man, that's next on the list. We saw a bunch of crabs, but we tapped them with the gig, and they were all hard-shells.
No in muddy water u do not want a light under water u do need a top light I wished I could post pics on here I'd send yall some pics that would drive u crazy lol
Don’t really hear to much about people still gigging flounders these days. Nice video Todd. My wife and I went out this past Sunday morning out of myrtle grove. We caught a nice box of specks and a few throwback reds. We don’t keep reds over 24 inches.
Go weld up some real gigs with 5/16 stainless all thread. 2 or 3 prong then grind the sharp. We have to step on our fish to get them off of the gig! Never seen a gig where the fish slides over the whole handle like that.
too muddy and underwater lights work better stops refraction of the lights from the water.
Todd, only suggestion for those guys is use underwater lights. Less glare on the surface of the water and using LED lights are super bright and can run on a 12v battery. That's what we use and gig some real doormats up to 7 lbs.
Record the actual fishing the camera is everywhere
Didn't know you could gig red fish? Looked kind of small as well. Was it legal to do?
@@MarshManMasson Page 36 of the 2018 Regs: "Barbless Spear or Multi-pronged Barbed Gig (may be used in saltwater for taking flounder ONLY)"
Man stop by the store on the way home get some stovetop stuffing and shrimp or crab and throw them bad boys in the oven
As a matter of policy, I don't keep fish when I tag along with somebody to shoot a video or get a story. Jeremy took these home. He was nice enough to send me a photo of the finished product, however. lol
Amateurs generator and flood lights and trolling motor lmfao
googins
This is not fishing, it's killing. And disgraceful. We now have a flounder season here in North Carolina due to this crap.
Fooling a fish with something it thinks is food, hooking it in the mouth, fighting it with state-of-the-art gear and throwing it in a cooler = honorable. Piercing it with a gaff and throwing it in a cooler = disgraceful. Got it. At least you'll have something to talk about at the next PETA meeting.
Wow! This brings back many memories of flounder gigging with my Dad and Uncles on the beach at Grand Isle! I’ll never forget the trip when I was finally big enough to actually gig my first flounder! What a rush that was!
Thanks for the reminder of such great memories, Todd!
