  • Why God Can Be Trusted
    (Heb 6:13-20)
    I. Because of His Person (v. 13-15)
    A. God is the ultimate authority (v.13-14)
    a. He can be trusted in His oaths (Gen 22:15-17)
    b. He is truthful (Num 23:19, Ps 119:160)
    1. God’s Record with Abraham:
    a) God’s Commitment - God first came to Abram with a promise (Gen 12:1-3).
    b) God’s Covenant - God entered into a blood covenant with Abraham (Gen 15).
    B. God keeps His agreements (v.15)
    a. He fulfilled his agreement to Abraham.
II. Because of His Promises (v. 16-18)
    A. Which are given by affirmation (v. 16)
    B. Which are given by authentication (v.17-18)
    a. God’s Oath (v.17)
    b. God’s Word (v.18)
III. Because of His Position (v. 19-20)
    A. Jesus Christ is our secure anchor (v.19)
    a. Only a High Priest could enter into the Veil.
    B. Jesus Christ is our sure aim (v.20)
    a. He is the forerunner of our faith who holds us forever.
    Point to Ponder:
We can trust God because He is our anchor that holds us. When one comes to God there is no more drifting. Our souls are anchored in heaven by and through our faith in Christ, who is and will remain our faithful and forever High Priest.
