  • Order Out of Chaos: Days One - Four
    Gen 1:3-19
    (Part II)
    I. The Length of Creation Days (v.3-5)
    A. Day One - Light and Darkness (v.3-5)
    a. This was apparently the Shechinah or Shekinah light of God. Shekinah is the visible majesty of the Divine Presence, especially when resting or dwelling between the cherubim on the mercy seat, in the Tabernacle, or in the Temple of Solomon; -- a term used…by the later Jews, and adopted by Christians.
II. The Events in Creation Days (vs. 6-19)
    A. Day Two - Water and Sky (v.6-8)
    a. Benefits of a Water Canopy:
    1. It would serve as a global greenhouse, maintaining an essentially uniformly pleasant warm temperature all over the world.
    2. The planet would have been maintained not only at uniform temperatures but also at comfortable…humidities by means of daily local evaporation and condensation (like dew, or ground fog) in each day-night cycle.
    3. The combination of warm temperature and adequate moisture everywhere would be conducive…to…lush vegetation all over the world, with no barren deserts or ice caps.
    4. A vapor canopy would also be highly effective in filtering out ultraviolet radiations…Thus the canopy would contribute effectively to human and animal health and longevity, (age of people before the flood).
    B. Day Three - Land and Plants (v.9-13)
    C. Day Four - Sun, Moon, and Stars (v. 14-19)
    Point to Ponder:
It is God who turned chaos into order, emptiness into life, and darkness into light. He still uses His Word to break through the chaos and darkness of the sinful human condition, flooding it with the light of His salvation. God wants to make you a new creation so seek God in His Word and ask Him to create in you a clean heart through Christ, by trusting in Him for your salvation. [cf., John 3:16]
