  • The Peacekeeper & Prophet Saints
    (Hebrews 11:32-40)
    I. The Peacekeepers of faith (v.32a)
    A. These were some of the Judges of the O.T.
    a. Gideon (Judges 7:1-8, 22)
    b. Barak (Judges 4:1-24)
    c. Samson (Judges 16:28-30)
    d. Jephthah (Judges 11:1-3)
    1. Jephthah’s vow (11:30-31)
    2. Jephthah could have made a sin offering to be forgiven for making a foolish vow. (Lev. 5:4-10)
II. The Prophets of faith (v.32 b)
    A. These were some kings and prophets of the O.T.
    a. David was Israel’s greatest king and a prophet. (Acts 2:29-31)
    b. Samuel was the last judge and was instrumental in appointing the monarchy.
    c. Both were faithful servants and yet both were flawed people.
III. The Products of faith (v.33 - 38)
    A. Faith exercised accomplishes great things.
IV. The Profit of Faith (v. 39-40)
    A. Believers who live faithful lives will earn a good name and inherit kingdom promises, but not apart from the OT saints.
    Point to Ponder:
    1. Focus your faith on God and His promises not on people or circumstances. The saints of the past were able to accomplish great things for the kingdom by and through a steadfast faith and you can too.
