I. The Essentials of Faith (v.1)
A. Faith is not blind trust. Faith trusts in unseen evidences to be established. (v.1)
a. The basis of assurance
II. The Example of Faith (v.2)
A. Faith is how Christian’s gain God’s attention and approval.
B. Faith building is a process of Time, Trust, & Trials
a. Abraham’s Growing Faith Demonstrated as Our Example: (Rom 4:18-22; Gen 22:1-13; Heb 11:17-19, 11:8-10; James 2:23)
III. The Evidence for Faith (v.3)
A. Creation itself is evidence that testifies to God’s existence and power, something everyone trusts in to some degree. (cf., Rom 1:18-23)
Point to Ponder:
Every believer has the capacity for growing in his or her faith. The more you trust God in the everyday occurrences of your life, the greater your faith will grow. God has sustained His people for thousands of years on this principle and as Jonathan Edwards said in his last words, “Trust in God and you need not fear.”
