wake up babe new possessedbyhorror book content just dropped 🔥
I would love to see a book icks video from you! Or maybe icks and loves - like things in horror books in particular (like content, plot elements, tropes, writing style etc etc) that you either really love or really hate
ooh love that
Thank you so much for shouting out Libby! I'm a librarian constantly trying to direct patrons who can't get their hands on a physical copy of their book to this great resource! Love your channel all around, and this content in particular.
i discovered it this year too and have been reading so much more since i'm reading digital and audio books through it. We love libraries!
I’m a teen services librarian, and there are some AMAZING YA horror books out there that I’d highly recommend!
• The Honeys by Ryan La Sala
• The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson
• Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White
• My Dearest Darkest by Kayla Cottingham
• Rules For Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall
• Not Good For Maidens by Tori Bovalino
I LOVED Beholder by Ryan La Sala and after seeing your comment, I will be reading The Honeys very soon!!
You should read Our Wives under The Sea, is kind of existential horror, very wird, and under water horror.
Also, since you love Saltburn, you should read The Secret History. Is very upper class, character exploration of morals, all the characters are morally gray.
Our Wives Under the Sea is exquisite grief horror!
HARD AGREE FROM ME 😂😂😂😂
best book/audiobook i've EVER read. absolutely nothing comes close to what this book did to my damn soul. i've thought about this story every single day since i first read it several months ago.
please read this (preferably by audiobook). this book is so haunting and beautiful and melancholic and basically a book that uses light body horror as a vehicle to explore grief.
another hell yeah on this rec!! one of my favorite books from last year
i read my year of rest and relaxation and our wives under the sea back to back and it was honestly such a good combo
Just finished this book and cried like a baby! It was a nice gut punch of horror
You will really enjoy "Episode Thirteen". Really feels like a book version of a found footage movie. Ending is *chef's kiss*
I actually hated the ending 🫣 but it was a fun time
I really likes this book too!
it was so good!
omg the novella “things have gotten worse since we last spoke” is one of my favorites of all time!! eric larocca can do no wrong! im so glad u loved the collection! so excited for their new one!🖤🖤
I didn't know you did book content too! This is a great discovery for me lol.
BUNNY IS SO GOOD
i would def recommend "the guest" by emma cline if you like a weird girl character study type lit fic book
it was literally sooo stressful and thrilling but in a more grounded psychological real world way than in the way that say, riley sagers books are thrilling. That book stressed me out to no end especially towards the end.
This! I read it on audio and could barely get through it, but in the best way possible.
yessss new possessed by horror video AND it's about books we won !!
Gonna be so fr and say I thought this was a typical booktube thumbnail and almost scrolled by 😂 you absolutely nailed the aesthetic
haha thank you!
If you love weird fiction about following around a character where nothing (but also a lot) happens, you NEED to read Shirley Jackson, especially her short stories. She's amazing at creating an eerie, anxious atmosphere through these seemingly mundane episodes!
Love seeing more book content! I’d highly recommend Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh if you liked My Year of Rest and Relaxation. I just finished the book on Wednesday and watched the movie last night which has Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie so I think you’d enjoy it!!
I listened to the audiobook of Eileen and was so underwhelmed! :( I felt like the book was building and building but when the climax finally came I was kinda bored. Idk maybe that’s just me but I rated it like 2.5 ⭐️ It was well written but just not as enjoyable as I wanted it to be. I think I wanted it to be weirder tbh! Or weird in a different way?
Omg yes another book video! Please do more!
I love Karin Slaughter, I rave about her all the time. Her novels are detective based and defiantly trigger warning. The way Slaughter writes her characters. The plot twists alone are a 5/5. She creates this world and emotions without going to gory. But again, triggers. I suggest starting with "The Good Daughter" (standalone) and see how you feel about it♥ "Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life. One is left behind..." she's an author i wanna re read. I devoured maybe 10 of her books in the matter of 3 months lol I was obsessed
omg i saw the title and in like wait… is this a prank? you do horror AND BOOKS !! YAYAYA love your content so excited ❤
If you like Ian Ried I highly recommend “We spread”, one of my favourite books
I think you would like The Guest by Emma Cline. Definitely similar to My Year of Rest and Relaxation vibes
Oh my god i cannot second this hard enough lol. I just read the guest in january and its already a contender for favorite read of 2024 for me. I def see the similarities! I gave both of them 5 stars but if i had to pick one i loved more, the guest blows my year out of the water.
@@Allgloss312 I completely agree! Loved both, but the guest was at the top of my favorite reads last year
I’m reading a book right now called This Wretched Valley, and not gonna lie, it’s spooked me enough that I’m reading a fluffy romance at night so I can sleep.
i'm not a huge fan of crime thrillers either but i am OBSESSED with karin slaughter's will trent series
i’m so excited to see you back to book videos because you got me excited about reading again when you mentioned Home Before Dark on your ig story back in 2021 and i haven’t stopped since! i used to be a huge book reader in high school and fell off and that’s what got me back into it!
Ahh yes! Love this!!
So excited for this video!
yay for book content!! :D
Love your book videos!!
love your book content!
i love ur book content!!!
Yay book content!❤❤
I am SO here for the book content!! I love Brandon Bakers content, he is the main reason my TBR list is forever long 😅 I’ve read 2 Karin Slaughter books, Pretty Girls and The Good Daughter, and I absolutely loved them- Karin does a wonderful job creating complex characters and a really well fleshed-out storyline. However both books do get quite heavy and dark and I can see how they wouldn’t be for everyone.
I'm currently reading Shiver by Allie Reynolds.
Synopsis: When Milla is invited to a reunion in the French Alps resort that saw the peak of her snowboarding career, she drops everything to go. While she would rather forget the events of that winter, the invitation comes from Curtis, the one person she can't seem to let go.
The five friends haven't seen each other for ten years, since the disappearance of the beautiful and enigmatic Saskia. But when an icebreaker game turns menacing, they realise they don't know who has really gathered them there and how far they will go to find the truth.
It's a fun and easy read.
YESSSSSS BOOK CONTENT 😍😍😍🖤
I love your book content!
LOVE book content!
I love your book reviews :)
I'm so here for it! (Bunny is one of my favorites of all time. It actually unseated Last House on Needless St., which I see from Goodreads you also loved.) T Kingfisher is another solid for me. Books!!! Yay!!!
Have you read anything else from Catriona Ward? I listened to Needless street and it was tough to get through! Not because it was bad, far from it, but because of the descriptions before we find out what’s really going on. Curious what you think of her other books
@beautybyalainas I also enjoyed Sundial and Looking Glass Sound (the latter's not the popular opinion). I enjoy all of the layers in her stories.
Love your book content ❤

Bunny is so good! One of my fave reads from last year!
Book content is the best! Hope you continue this recap series every month
It would be great to have a vid of your five - ten desert island books. Books you'd be happy reading again and again, and/or books that inform who you are as a person spiritually, philosophically, etc.
Very excited to see how you feel about Bunny! You are definitely in for a ride like u said. It was certainly not what I was expecting!
i love all of your content but your book content is my favorite 🖤🫶🏻
