SAME
♥️♥️♥️
Same!!! I'm infinitely happy to discover her channel this early!
huge agree
Literally came to the comments to say this!! 🎉 😍❤️🔥
I just want to let you know that I was watching this with my cat. Then I paused it, but she looked at me weird and I resumed it and she started making biscuits. So basically this is the highest of compliments.
this is an honor thank your cat on my behalf
I’m not a cat owner so I had to look up what “making biscuits” meant and that’s absolutely adorable 😭
Never apologize for your former self loving a book. They meet us where we are when we need them. ❤
The Hating Game was a fever dream 5 star read for me that I WILL NOT justify to anyone at anytime. Thank you. 😅
no for real
Wait same 🤣 why is this a thing?!
Saame I just changed it on goodreads recently bc I was like umm no
hahaha. I just read this last week for the first time and I was SO confused as to why it had such a high rating. I don't think my standards are THAT high for books, like I can enjoy something even if it's not top tier literature but I DID NOT like this book at all. I kept waiting for it to get better lol. I can say a few moments in it were nice but overall I did not like it and felt weird giving it 2/5 when most reviews were 4 and 5 haha
I will justify mine which is-
At the time of reading I was at school camp with a mild concussion, sleep deprivation, I had drank 2 espressos, 5 mochas, 3 hot chocolattes and 2 green teas in 2.5 days and it was my introduction to contemporary western romance so uhm. Yea.
i did not walk to this video, I RAN.
same!😭
sameeee
❤❤❤
iraq!
I sometimes think of Shadow and Bone as Leigh Bardugo being told to write the most easily marketable ya series and once that blew up she was allowed to write whatever she wanted. I do love Nikolai though. What an icon. I am not immune.
i show my mom your videos whenever you post, and she started following you on goodreads and whenever i show her a tiktok/youtube vid that's not yours she always is like "where's lexi" thank you for accidentally improving my relationship with her :) stronger than the troops fr 💪💪
stop i'm so glad to hear this... my dream is to have a legion of middle aged women as fans this is a great start
@@newlynova I was watching your video and my mom (a middle aged woman) said she looked like you when she was younger. completly unprompted
@newlynova 👋 👋 Middle-aged mom here! Your legion is in its infancy, but I'm sure well on its way to fully formed. Thanking the CZcams algorithm gods that sent you may way because your videos are so fun. Unrelated, your look reminds me of Parker Posey in You've Got Mail, the movie.
I need a discussion of the worst books that you've ever read in this style. The struggle to have to put some of them in a high tier because they're not as bad as others would be amazing and also I would hate to have to do that
I could imagine a bit where you read the first chapter of a book and create a bingo card with predictions of tropes, cliches and events to see if you can get a bingo by the end of the book
And I reaaaally need to read educated 😩
this is a great bit idea might steal one day
Heartstopper would be in my I WILL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS. Because I don't. And I won't. Coincidentally, I'm re-reading all four graphic novels (for the 3rd? 4th? time) in honor of Alice Oseman's birthday. I'm 30 so your comment about reading this earlier on potentially changing the course of my life hit me HARD. I love them so much. Also, I ordered Betty immediately after you mentioned it. I'm nothing if not impulsive and easily influenced.
it's so good 😭
46 minutes of peak booktube 😭 thank u for such immaculate taste and content
the song of achilles blew up on tumblr a few years before it came up on booktok and i'm so glad everyone is also going feral over it because i think about it Constantly and i cried so much during it
I just finished Song Of Achilles last night and I had to call my best friend while crying about book characters
Verity was also a fever dream read that i initially liked and the only reason being was my brain had to be cooked after it. After like 2 weeks i actually thought about it and went wait… It is probably the most insane book ive ever read so it gets that award
if you’ve never tried it before, storygraph is a really great alternative to goodreads that allows for .25/.5/.75 ratings!
Omg The Song of Achilles altered my brain chemistry. I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see through my tears UGH it was so GOOD
Left me in a crying puddle OR kicking/giggling are also my reasons for rating a book 5 ⭐. I feel validated 😂
I will pay you to read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier if you haven't yet. A classic that could very reductively described as "Verity if it actually deserved 5 stars"
colleen hoover WISHES she was daphne du maurier fr
this is definitely on my list i was actually gifted a copy by a friend recently
First of all.... BEST BOOK EVER!!!!! REBECCA IS EVERYTHING... book hangover for life. Also too relatable in my life on a very odd way.. ugh so good
I just read it like two months ago and I was shocked that it actually lived up to the classics hype
that book was so delicious but I’m a sucker for terrible people being terrible to each other😂
I feel really good that I am not the only one who rated Verity 5-star and am now questioning every single decision I have ever done in my reading career. That book was the first thriller I ever read and I was so shocked by everything, but looking back now CH really just tried to make it as insane as possible and make the characters completely crazy and unreasonable. I am ashamed but at least I'm not alone.
Hearing you talk is like listening to my inner monologue. I’ve never been more at ease listening to someone talk and def never at that speed! I feel like someone like you who reads a lot different genres knows what’s up so I’ll be looking to you for book recs from now on!
“My modern era of being a bitch” is so relatable lol😂❤
truly my tbr has just become a list of every single book you have ever talked about. i've never had a booktuber whose opinions/recs i care about or put as much stock into as much as i do yours. so thanks for that !!
Hey, awesome video! And I’m not sure if anyone else has commented this already or not, but in “maybe you should talk to someone” the author explains in the beginning that in order to keep confidentiality she has massively changed details about the patients and even mixed a few patients into the same person just to make sure no one will be able to identify them. Just a fun fact which I thought you’d want to know ☺️ I loved that book too, need to read it again actually, it’s been a while!
honestly you are the only book-tuber I can watch. Love the fast pace and short but informative descriptions of each book!!!
i love seeing people discussing things they love so passionately ❤️
watching you talk about books you love just makes me immediately want to log off and read everything that's ever been written so i can attempt to find something i feel that passionately about. i love it so much pls never stop
I read My Dark Vanessa over 3 years ago and still think about it all the time.
you have such excellent taste- adding all the books in the top tier i haven’t read yet to my TBR, bc we have so many similar 5 star reads!!
absolutely love all your content. it brings me and many others so much joy, never stop posting lexi! truly a godsend for my reading slump brain 🫶
This has become my favorite thing about CZcams: people talking about things they are passionate about! Thanks for sharing
If you haven’t read Circe yet I highly recommend it. Anyone that has read Song of Achilles absolutely needs to read Circe. It’s a million times better than SOA and actually has great pacing and characterization. I thought SOA was deeply okay and Circe is a 6 star novel for me. I believe the next generation of AP Lit students need to read it.
i totally agree! circe was fantastic
it's on my list for this fall!!! very much looking forward to reading it i've only heard good things
haven’t read song of achilles (i have it but i kinda don’t want to start it because i didn’t like circe) but circe was just… really boring. no action whatsoever. i really disliked it which was strange because usually i love character driven books, but this book was just genuinely boring and forced
This!!! I could not stop reading Circe. Such an amazing book.
i got circe for a dollar at a preowned book sale, i am excited to read it, and i havent read song of achilles
I love that every time a book came up about which I went You gave that 5 stars?? You ended up putting them in the not 5 stars category so for me, you now have immaculate taste
i love how to talk about books, you’re so entertaining and passionate about it!!
five of these books were already in my TBR and you placed 4 of them in the first two tiers, great to see we are on the same page lexi!
you're literally one of my favorite people at this point and I could just listen to you talk about books all day
THIS is the tier ranking I was craving. This video -- ranking your best of the best -- was perfection, no notes. Keep it up Lexi!
the way that the top tier books got added to my tbr SO quick
Love that you also loved "Especially Hideous" from Her Body and Other Parties; it's an S tier short story for me. Thank you for all the chaotic and fun content; you're quickly becoming a new favorite Booktuber for me.
I have been looking forward to watching this for several days. Perfect content. No notes.
Never added so many books to the top of my tbr so fast. 100% agree with all these comments I love the vibes and how quick and precise your synopsis are that makes me want to read!!!!
I NEED to see your notes about books on notion they seem so pretty and organized
This randomly ended up in my reccomended but I've now thoroughly padded put my memoir to read section thanks to this video! Absolutely subscribed Ur energy is impeccable
just added so many of these to my want to read list like ohhhh my god i'm so excited to read these now, thank you
i've watched some of your videos now and i just have to say that the speed of the way you talk is scratching something in my adhd brain and i love you for that
This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and wow, you have incredible taste. Gonna have to put all the top tier ones that I don't know yet on my tbr. Thanks for sharing!!
I really appreciate what you said about the Midnight Library because that was my same experience. Totally get the criticism but also such a special book to me personally.
I absolutely loved My Dark Vanessa! Can’t wait to check out the other books you’ve mentioned in this video ❤❤
i’m so happy that this video randomly showed up on my recos!! NOW I CANT STOP BINGING YOUR VIDEOS
I watch every video on 2x because I’m impatient and your voice is so entertaining at double speed. I think I need to add some books to my tbr 😂
So glad I found you! Your reading tasted are the closest to mine that I’ve found! All of these books are either ones that I’ve read, want to read, or weren’t on my radar yet (and now are, thank you very much).
When I read short story collections I rate each story separately and then take the average for the whole thing. Unless the vibes are immaculate and I'll just instinctively give it 5 stars like any short stories Karen Russell or Zadie Smith writes lol
omg this is such a good idea 😭 using this
@lilacfields aw thank you! Glad you're using it! 😊❤️
this vid randomly popped up in my recommendations and i’m like already obsessed with your channel !!🫶🏾
This video inspired me to finally start my own booktube. Thank you so much for being who you are and for being a shining light across my CZcams recommended page!!
I LOVE your “categorizing” videos! I ranked my books read this year by your mid-year update guidelines for fun and I’ll probably do the same now for my five star reads😂
I just ordered 5 of your top-tier books -- thanks a lot for the good, fun video and your rec's!!
I love tier lists, i love Lexi tier lists even more
Obsessively adding many of these to my to reads. Also, you pull of bangs so well and I hope you’re told that every day.
ive randomly become obsessed with reading again in my early 20s so thanks for the reading list girly
OMG my day gets better when u posttt
im in love with your channel it is singlehandedly carrying me through my senior year + college applications thank you so much
literally same 😭 i have no idea what i’m doing and i still have to take the SAT. there’s so much to do
@@lilacfields it is so stressful !! if you need support or a friend let me know !!
Watching your videos has helped me to enjoy reading again so thank you !!
You’re soooo right about Malibu Rising!!! I enjoyed it at the time and rated it highly (4 stars), but I couldn’t for the life of me tell you what happened in that book 😭
the absolute JUMPSCARE of seeing a colleen hoover book on this list. i did not even consider you and verity existing in the same world fjdhgdfjkhhfdj saving this vid for later for recs, i had an amazing time as always
I love watching your videos to get recommendations for my next reads and also to know which ones are worth skipping
This was a great idea for a tier ranking video. M I am glad that most of yours still held up. I’d be curious to look back at my own historical 5 stars. I similarly don’t give them out easily but I and sure there are ones I might look at differently 😂
I just found tomorrow x3 at a thrift shop and I'm happy to hear a really positive review. I think I'm really gonna love it.
Absolutely obsessed with your content
anything you ever talk about goes straight onto my tbr and I will never stop telling everyone about u ur my fav 😌
Also ur my new fave booktuber so im binging everything, bc i too have adhd and relate to anxiety states and dry humor, seriously u've got me cracking up, u could do stand up easily💙
This is the first video of yours I've ever watched and we have, like, 85% overlap in our reading and it's so exciting to find someone who reads a lot of the same things. I even added a few books to my TBR based on how much we have in common and your recommendations (including The Office of Historical Corrections). But then... at 34 minutes in... I could see Verity in your list of books waiting to be ranked... but you came through. Hahaha. I'm a new subscriber!
I’ve never watched someone who’s taste so perfectly matches mine!! Instantly adding 40+ books to my tbr
I just went through these categories with my 5 star books and it was both a lot of fun and pretty funny how many books I must have loved at some point but are a total emptiness in my mind. This gave me a good list of informed reread plans :)
Absolutely loved this video. Just bought some of the books you read because I trust your opinions.
Loved hearing your thoughts on these!
I haven't read all of these books, but this tier list more accurately reflects my opinions/taste than any other I've seen, so I'll definitely have to add some of these top books to my tbr.
Ooooh a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ shelf!! I need that in my life. Thanks for the idea!
This was such a helpful list I just added so many books to my tbr- also I love your succinct and funny review style!
I've started reading tomorrow x3 on your rec, thank you! This was a great video
i hope you love it!!!! what i would GIVE to read that book for the first time again
I just discovered your channel and I'm shocked by how similar our reading taste is!
I'm 5 minutes into this video and had to hit subscribe. The vibes? Immaculate. The energy? Amazing. The chaos? Addictive.
this is exactly what I needed today
I only found you yesterday and have already been recommended and watched two videos of yours (a lot for me okay 😅). Im absolutely saving these books to look into and I love your passion for reading, I'm recultivating mine this year (aiming for a whole 10 books finished this year, which is over double what I've read the last several years during university). You also just seem lovely and like you'd make an excellent friend ❤ subscribed for sure!!
Just finished office of historical corrections and every single story ate! Thank you so much for the rec!
Omg. We have the same taste in books. Your “I will Never Shut Up About This” is full of books that changed my life. Know My Name is truly my favorite memoir I’ve ever read, it was beautiful while honest and upsetting. I agree, The Midnight Library was so important to me and my mental health. If you like entertaining science fiction, I strongly recommend listening to Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It’s SO good and wholesome. So happy to have found your channel!
project hail mary is actually on my list for this fall!!!! glad to have you here
Your description of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is exactly how I feel about it 😫
i read tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow in february of this year and i immediately knew it would be my favorite of the year (and also in the running for all time) and it was in FEBRUARY!! like im doing a book bracket and i already know shes gonna win
might reread it in december to feel something tbh
You make my breaks at work, so much more enjoyable
This was a great take on your 5* reads. Thank you!
thanks for posting this!! i was very glad to find your channel!!
Just updating to say i finished reading the office of historical corrections! When i borrowed the book from the library i thought the story would be something like the tv show loki😅 but you were right it was really good and i definitely would never have come across if it wasn't for you. I'm reading the tommorow and tommorow and tommorow book next!
You are probably my favourite youtuber and book tuber who is at the same age as me. This somehow makes many things so much relatable
I have never felt more seen after your rating of the hating game bc that's what got me into romance as well and now it's basically all I read and damn, that book doesn't hold up like I thought it would
I loved this video. Wrote down SO many books to read. Thank you!
This was such a great video! Watched every second 🤣 came here from TikTok (years ago) staying for the BookTube! 😍
first video of yours ive seen and somehow all of your opinions are like . my exact opinions said in much better ways . scream. i love u
Loved hearing your thoughts on these books! A few I've read or are on my TBR. I've also added quite a few to my list thanks to this video. However My mom and I read The Night Circus many years ago when I was in college. I couldn't get into it and found it incredibly boring until the last 3rd. I didn't get the plot at first, couldn't visualize it, it was a struggle to read through.
I freaking loved and enjoyed watching this video!! thank u sooo much Lexi! :)) 🧡
After having watched basically all the videos on your youtube after finding your tiktok, you convinced me to start reading again and I read 400 pages in 5 hours. Really hopeful that this gets me back into reading consistently!
@@newlynova It's really good to know that that works too. With college classes and grad applications and friends etc, everything can just be so much that I feel like I don't have time to read, which is a lie bc if I can watch youtube I can read lol. I definitely will try the "a few pages a day" thing tho, hopefully I can keep it up for longer
I was like “this is so good why have i never seen this booktuber” and i just found out you started 4 months ago!! congratulations!
The eyeliner, the Micarah Tewers vibes, everything, new sub, no notes
Your book taste is sooo similar to mine, I'll definitely keep watching you! Loved this video :)
Oh my gosh!! I rarely hear the night circus recommended! I STILL (10+ years later) think about the imagery of that book. Loved the story, but that IMAGERY.
