Try our coffee! geni.us/4AAmhpj
This video is a VERY exciting one because it takes place not only out of the Lifestyle Lab studio, but also out of the country! We travelled to Italy for a secretive product launch by Mahlkonig, and were amongst the first group of people to ever lay eyes on a BRAND NEW Mahlkonig grinder! This is the first leg of our trip in Italy, so stay tuned for more content to come!

What a great first part of our trip to Italy! What do you think of the new EK Omnia??
Just to clarify, we were invited by Mahlkonig to this event but were not paid or flown out. This video is not sponsored or funded by anyone other than myself.
Thank you so much for joining us! It was a pleaser to have you at the event. Love the video!
Thank you for the invite!
Loving the lifestyle feel of this video. Beautiful edit. Trip looked like a blast! The grinder looks like a beast 😤
Certainly wasn’t complaining about the location of the event! Was a great trip all around
Love to see you getting out of the studio, great editing!!
It’s my favorite country in the world and you photographed it spectacularly
Thank you :)
Definitely will be back. Thinking of releasing a full video of just travel highlights, this video included such a tiny percentage of what I filmed!
Super cool vid.
Not a travel channel uh but you just gave me a great idea for anniversary trip with those images of Como Lake and then head to Milan 😅
Aha, happy to have been of service 😉
Might post some more footage later on as well
we've needed some objective measurement for grind size like forever, rather than 'medium fine' or '31 on my grinder'. I hope this filters through to other manufacturers sooner rather than later. The new grinder looks great! Looks like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing.
Eureka had something at HOST you might be VERY interested in then. Stay tuned 😉
can't really translate grind sizes well between coffees, water used, burrsets, and in the case of espresso, machine/basket, and dose used, in any case
@tommihommi1 yes, but if you’re running a chain of cafés that has identical setups, you can share recipes from site to size and you bring in new coffees which is really neat
@@LifestyleLab_ but you have always been able to do that
and even with that, they'll need individual dialing beyond the initial starting point of course
@tommihommi1 you haven’t been able to do that yet because a 5 on one site’s EK is not the EXACT same to the micron gap as another sites 5 on their EK. On the Omnia, the burr gap is controlled to this degree.
no rpm control?
This grinder is obviously not aimed at me but when I see screens and software on a grinder I switch off. A purely mechanical grinder is always going to be a more robust and long lasting device. I'm sure it will be a great commercial grinder for many tho.
While I do often agree, I also trust Mahlkonig to implement in a VERY robust way. Especially when it comes to the EK line they’re not going to taking any risks with longevity. That would be business suicide for their flagship product
@@LifestyleLab_ but at the end of the day it's still more things to go wrong. And software/firmware/LCD screens fail. Just look at the latest BMW cars compared to their old ones. Almost all the common faults with their modern cars are software related. And that's BMW.
@Tass... True! Which I imagine is why the EK43 and EK43S have not been discontinued, the Omnia is a new standalone version for those who want the features, and those who want mechanical simplicity can still buy the 43
or for those who don't want to spend 2x the price of a EK43S
@@LifestyleLab_ I get why they want to make this grinder. To keep up with trends but @Tass... Is right. Why would you really want to add additional points of failure? A grinder only needs a good mechanical dial to work well. It's a dial with numbers on. It's a very basic thing that is necessary. Why complicate that? And he's right the first thing that will fail on this new grinder will be the software or display. That's just common sense. Electronics always fail before mechanics.
It would be awesome if you could review the Nurri L-type Leva SA
It would! That’s one serious looking machine
I believe Lance just put out a great video in the mean time
Dude I was literally JUST in Lake Como on the 13-15th 😂
And I headed down into the city on the 12th, haha
Hope you enjoyed your time there!
I hope this tech gets ported to the home barista market
My 2-month-old E65s GBW started sweating... ...
