Cade Cunningham Could Be the NBA's Next Pick-and-Roll Wizard

  • As a primary ball handler and facilitator, Cade has a unique build. You'll see him listed at either 6'6" or 6'7", depending on the source, and he's also had his wingspan measured at seven feet. That’s a significant plus wingspan for his player type.
    Cunningham's not the type of quick-twitch athlete that makes you rewind the tape over and over, but for Cade's size, he's an intriguing blend of lower body strength and balance, and he’s far from a slouch in terms of flexibility and speed. His frame looks like it could very easily add a substantial amount of strength, and I do think that he could become a more physically imposing player at his position. He's more or less a tight end with the mind of a QB1 that's out there playing point guard.

      No one underrated playmaking. If anything, playmaking as a whole is an overstated yet poorly understood concept.
      What "casuals" don't like are players who are good-great playmakers but can't make their own shot.

      Aaron He definitely got better. Injuries, teamplay, and lack of opportunities given to him made those who don’t really follow the Lakers game by game think that he hasn’t improve a bit. But if you saw his performance on his rookie year compare to the glimpses that he showed (especially when Lebron was out), you will actually see the difference.

    • @Aaron-nm1ob
      @Aaron-nm1ob Před 5 lety

      @@edmichaelalobog8886 disagree. I'd say he got worse with LeBron on the floor. He literally sat dead last in the entire NBA for percentage within 2 feet. That's horrifying given how bad of a shooter he is. He's a good defender. I don't ever see him as anything more than an above average roll player. Can't finish, can't shoot.
      Role players play D and pass. Not stars. He thinks he's a star. He needs a lot more game to be a star

Cade doesn’t seem like he can ever get to where Zo is now on defense, and while it can be developed, his playmaking doesn’t look as great as Lonzo’s did in highschool. He definitely looks like an NBA player, and hopefully he gets a coach that can develop that offensive game nonstop for a year. Reminds me more of an Evan Turner type beat

    @devvv4616 Před 4 lety

    Kinda weird how many of the very intelligent offensive orchestrators are bad team defenders. It's almost essentially the same skill, reading the floor and anticipating the open man/pass. At that point it's just physical limitations or laziness that stop them from being a good team defender. If you can read where the open man weakside is on offense, surely you can read it as well on defense and predict the pass to him.
    Also Cade's feet are always pointed "ten toes to the rim" which makes it awkward/less smooth than natural shooters. That fundamental bullsht isn't working that's why the best shooters in the nba don't follow that rule, esp. the off the dribble shooters. At the very least, only the white spot shooter kind if guy follow that.
    That weakness in finishing tho. I could swear it's his biggest strength when watching highlights, finishing with physicality consistently. Didn't know he was having trouble with it.
