Did LaMelo Ball deserve all that attention? / Player Deep Dive
Love him or hate him, you could argue that aside from Zion Williamson, LaMelo Ball is probably the most famous player of this mixtape era. If he were just some kid out in California throwing no-look passes and shooting wild, contested 35-footers, it'd probably be different. But LaMelo was born the son of LaVar Ball, an insistent promoter who burst on the scene in 2016 to let us know how remarkable he and his sons are.

Cade Cunningham Could Be the NBA's Next Pick-and-Roll Wizard
zhlédnutí 102KPřed 4 lety
As a primary ball handler and facilitator, Cade has a unique build. You'll see him listed at either 6'6" or 6'7", depending on the source, and he's also had his wingspan measured at seven feet. That’s a significant plus wingspan for his player type. Cunningham's not the type of quick-twitch athlete that makes you rewind the tape over and over, but for Cade's size, he's an intriguing blend of lo...
Blue Chips is Wildly Underrated

(I noticed that I spelled "Dakich" incorrectly. Whooooooops.) On February 18th, 1994, just a few weeks before the NCAA Tournament, Paramount Pictures released a somewhat legendary movie called Blue Chips. It melded the tradition and passion for basketball in the state of Indiana, the excitement of discovering the next great players, and the sizzle of the forbidden, in the form of scandal. The f...

Darius Garland is a creative, thrilling 6-2, and 175-pound guard originally from Gary, Indiana. He spent a short season of college basketball at Vanderbilt for Bryce Drew, the man who always looks like he’s getting ready to take an offering, hold the hands of an older lady, thank her for her green bean casserole and pray. Might be a good career path for him now that’s he’s been fired. I KID! (I...

Things were different on November 16th, 1999. The NBA was still in the early steps of the post-Jordan era. Mambo #5 was the most popular song in America. If the Milwaukee Bucks are a bottle of Valentina hot sauce, this offseason they put an extra hole in their spout, and the offense is flowing now. They did this in a couple of ways. Matt Nover played for Bellinzona in Switzerland for a year after the release of this film. The crazy thing is that I loved that film, and I played for Bellinzona in those years, and I didn't know he was there. Obviously I was in the youth team, 14 years old, but it's still absurd that I didn't know. I just discovered it on Wikipedia..

The two best teams of the Seventies - the Knicks and Celtics, who were the only teams to win multiple championships - were both small. Reed was a power forward who moved to center. Bradley was too small for forward, and Debusschere was undersized for a power forward. On the Celtics, Cowens was undersized, and Havlicek was a guard playing forward. On top of that, you had the Bullets starting a very undersized Wes Unseld at center. Small ball predated the three point line.
