- Things were different on November 16th, 1999. The NBA was still in the early steps of the post-Jordan era. Mambo #5 was the most popular song in America. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s End of Days was soaring to unseen cinematic heights. It was also the day that Bol Bol was born in the South Sudan to his legendary father, Manute.
Bol is a mild-natured, 7-foot-2 and 235-pound center with soft hands and a gracefulness that surprises everyone who watches him. He first came onto our radar in 2012, when a mixtape of a paper thin 6’5” seventh grader that could shoot threes and handle the ball went viral. A few years later, coming off a truncated single year of college ball at Oregon, he enters the NBA Draft. That means we need to talk about his tall ass.

I will go on record now and say Bol Bol will have a long and productive carreer. Genetics.. his father played 17 years basically injury free because of their line of giants. He isn't as big as his father however he is much much better than his dad skill wise.

Yeah I rather see this man go to ATL rather than the Wizards or MIN. ATL has a good thing going and I can see them bringning Bol bol along slowly. You add in a upcoming PG in Trae young and that's a recipe for sucess
Bol seems very coachable. I watched him play in highschool and i had no idea he was even going to be that effective in college or that he had guard skills. This is a gamble i would take!
After watching Bol a few games in college, I was convinced he is special. He is not just another tall skinny player. His offensive skill set is superior to most of his peers, and his wingspan allows him to get away with things I haven't seen other players do.
It will probably come down to heart, and who knows about that. But I've got the feeling he will get A LOT better in his first few years in the NBA.

I believe the Hawks would be a good option for him. They seem to be comitted to player development, there isnt a ton of expectations for him, so he could be brought along slowly, plus they have two lottery picks. Their biggest need is a defensive wing, once again, lowering the expectations for him. I cannot say what the fan base wants, but with 2 top 10 picks, it seems like you could tske a chance on him as a opposed to taking someone like, say, Jaxon Hayes, who is an athletic, bouncy shot blocking 5 but is very limited offensively. Also, those navicular fractures scare the bejimminies out of me. He is a conundrum but that is my best guess. I guess it all depends on who falls in love with him.
Leavon Fletcher they already have a power foward for the future in John Collins and I don’t think bol bol is strong often to play center. It would be best for a team to play him at power forward like what the Knick did with kristaps porzings

Sam Fisher the thing is even though Bol Bol is very mobile for his size he’s still not mobile enough to keep with players like draymond to play at power forward and even kristaps is probably at his best at center.

Great video. Atlanta Hawks are the right fit. The head coach is known for his player development, especially of big men. He can develop at his own pace while still getting consistent playing time.

@@Mossylemur Trae Young and Kevin Huerter were great, and were given the opportunity to grow. John Collins, Alex Len, Dewayne Dedmon, etc all had career years. And we've turned guys like DeAndre Bembry into competent NBA players. Keep sleeping

Could you make a video on Darius Garland? I feel like he’s getting lost as people keep calling this a “3 man draft”, but I feel like his skills are way more translatable than Barrett’s. He’s in the mold of a lot of the score first PGS in the league rn and I just see so much more upside in him than a Culver or Hunter. I know the tape is limited but I’d be interested in your thoughts

Bol could be special. It's so rare to see a guy that big with guard skill set and fluid mobility at that age. My two concerns with him...
1) Health. Obviously. Stress fractures in the feet of big men are serious injuries.
2) Work ethic. Sometimes I watch him and I question how badly he wants to be good. Sometimes he just doesn't show an effort on defense... doesn't hustle back, doesn't contest, doesn't help, doesn't box out. He also needs to work on certain basketball fundamentals. Things like improving his shot selection and being a better screener.
But man... If he stays healthy and shows that he does have a strong work ethic... look out.
I like the Porzingas compariason (and the Mo Bamba one, but l hadn't considered Kristaps and that fits so well).

Joel Embiid, Thon Maker, Chris Bosh, Inspector Gadget, and Hasheem Thabeet
I disagree with the Boban comparison, although the same height, Boban is 100lbs heavier and a physical pressence in the paint. Bol was never that from what l saw with his stint at Oregan, players liked attacking. This is also why l don't really like the Gobert comparison either, bc although they share much of the same measurements, Gobert has more heart, at least defensively. And l feel like you touched on that.

Honestly would not take Bol Bol in the Top 10. The payoff is not enough to offset the probability that Bol Bol will just be a straight up bust/low-minute out of the rotation type of player.

Maybe I'm way off, but I think in the right system, Bol Bol could play more on the perimeter on offence, and then anchor a zone down low on defense. I'd say his ideal landing spot in range of where I've seen him in mock drafts is Miami, or slipping all the way to San Antonio at 19.

One thing that Porzingis did coming in the league that instantly transferred to his rookie season was the put back dunks, that was his bread and butter before the NBA and during his rookie season, don't see Bol attacking the offensive glass with the same aggression

I think that the nuggets will be a god fit for him; he won’t get much play time and he’ll have great coaching and veteran players and he’ll get a front row seat to the best centre in the nba
