The Unparalleled Potential of Mo Bamba - Player Breakdown / Scouting Reel

  • Mohamed "Mo" Bamba is a thoughtful, surprisingly skilled and shockingly lanky 7’0” center from Harlem, New York. He spent his lone college year at Texas under Shaka Smart.
Honestly, "lanky" doesn’t really even cover it. You'd have to reach into the world of fiction to find length that’s comparable to the wingspan and reach that Bamba enjoys. He's an anomaly. He's filled with overwhelming potential. He's also one of the more volatile floor to ceiling propositions in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Actually Bamba was averaging 4.5 blocks then he hurt his toe in the middle of the year and played about half as much as he was so if it wasn’t for that we’d be saying he was averaging almost 5 blocks a game 👀

He's in the Mavs backyard. If he's there at 5 he's going to the Mavs. I think he pairs nicely with DSJ and he will immediately start and make there Defense way better. Nerlens Noel will be then be traded like he was going to be anyway. Makes perfect since to me.

Unicorn potential. Honestly think he has the highest potential in the draft. I got Dallas grabbing him at 5th. He's in their back yard and they need a Center. His potential is just to high to fall out of the top five. At worst he's an elite shot blocker, if nothing else. And at best he's Rudy Gobert with a 3 ball. That's scary.

he can lollygag in transition but i don't think you need to worry about his motor. conditioning is going to be hard when your that big, running the floor will come with an NBA trainer working with him. his half court defense is where you can see his motor is high. when he guards out on the perimeter he Ds up hard, gets low and doesn't let players by easy. he takes offense to anyone getting a bucket on him.

Pascal Siakam is someone who comes to mind when talking about learning motor/hustle. He’s naturally fast and athletic and defense was there but couldn’t stretch the defense and and couldn’t score in traffic so he realized that the only way he could get buckets is to sprint down the court full speed right after a offense inbound or mistake by the other team getting an easy layup and drawing a foul. I think Mo is gonna shape up to be like Siakam in terms of development his first year is gonna be a little rough but with every following year he’ll hopefully make leaps and bounds in his overall game.

there are a lot to like about Bamba, but there is just one thing i do not like, i can;t really describe, but when i watch some players i get this feeling, that any time, they could just break, Embid gives me this same feeling when i watch him, like he is fragile or something, i don;t know what exactly creates this feeling, the way they move and stand on their feet maybe, i feel like any minute the could just break in half. You can have canonball shoulders and brick like chest, but in basketball, every move you do starts and ends with your lower half, and if that lower half ain't strong enough, your wingspan is just gonna be decorative. Take iggy for example, he is(or was if you want) one of the best defenders because he combines all that upper half enormous strength, with enormous lower half strength. If Bamba wants to become an elite player or defender, in my opinion the most important part will be to really strengthen his lower half, so he can support whatever he is gonna build on that upper half. Just imagine boogie backing down Bamba in the post, he is just gonna snap his shoulder a bit towards him and Mo will go flying to the stands. But one thing is certain, his potential is fuckin scary.

the concerns are basically get better equipped offensively and stronger. these are things that are a lot easier to change than a broken jump shot for example. Plus, as he was an intellect, now that he doesn't have to worry about going to class, studying etc, it's likely he can work on his game a lot more intensely. IMO if healthy, this could be something incredibly special.

Great breakdown! If he fails, he could be the next Shawn Bradley. The motor is really concerning but the high basketball IQ could make up for that. The DEFINITION of a lottery pick. (Oh, and subbed!)

just subscribed, great video. I really hope the Celtics move up to get this beast. Imagine him with tatum, brown, rozier, smart, and Ojeleye. That would be a crazy group of young talent that could grow together for years to come. That's not even mentioning irving, hayward, horford, baynes, morris. Celtics are gonna be competing with the 76ers for years, this guy going againt embiid consistently would make the rivalry even better. fingers crossed.

Imagine him on the knicks? Him at center and Kristaps at PF the post defense would almost be impossible to get by because of both of their wingspans and they also have a developing talent at the PG position with Frank Ntlinkina who is also a very talented defender. I could see the knicks with Bamba a top tier defensive team in the league if they draft him. Although i don’t see him falling that far down.

Damn those long hands! Everytime I see him I am waiting for him to stretch his hands and go all Mister Fantastic.
