    When replacing the guides, and you put the glass back in how do you know the front glass is set correctly? There is a good amount of up and down it can go and mine has a whistle now when it’s in vent.

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Před 2 lety

      I really should make an adjustment video.
      Usually you put the front corners as far up as they will go, and sometimes they still aren't flush with the roof, but if they're close that's fine.
      The rear corners, here's how I do it:
      Open the glass. You don't have to go all the way, just let it drop down in back, then stop it and shut it.
      THEN, adjust it. I like to put the front glass just a hair higher than the rear glass. That way it'll be level with the rear glass when the play in the whole mechanism lets it drop a bit.
      So the rear of the front glass should be almost flush with the front of the fixed glass, but just slightly higher, AFTER you open it and shut it.

    Thanks for the video, it was very helpful! I just replaced my guides and had to align them. Sunroof and shade work except when sunroof is closing, it gets to the visor arms (4-5” from closed position) and opens back up. I can manually fold the visor down before sunroof gets to the visor arms and the sunroof will close all the way. Any idea why it may be doing that and how to fix? Thanks!

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Před 2 lety

      The front piece on the arms is supposed to push the tension wire/spring thing for the air deflector (assume that's what you mean by visor) as it closes, and it's not supposed to be in the way when the window is almost shut.
      Possible they broke?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Před 4 měsíci

      No, it can be dropped on the left side in the 2nd row and get to it, but it's not as easy as a truck because the opening around the sunroof has a metal brace inside it. So it can't just bend down like the truck headliner can. It's not terribly bad, though. Remove the grab handle, the C pillar and you should be able to flex it downward enough to get to it I'd think.

      Once you have programmed it and it is operational, it should never be in that hole again it should be just short of it. When I manually align them I jam it all the way forward into the hole as far as it will go, that way you know they are in sync and not maybe a tooth or two off.

    @Pacfanweb - Any suggestions on what to do if the guides are too far forward and won't move forward or backward?
    How this happened: The sunroof was flush on passenger side yet sitting in the vent position on driver side as a result of a piece of broken passenger guide in the track. Ordered a pair of guides from Ford and waiting for them.
    In the meantime I simply wanted to close the roof. The guides were misaligned (driver side on correct position but the passenger side post was back about two inches. Removed the glass and then the bump stops at the front end of the rails. Ran the initiation/calibration procedure without glass installed in an attempt to realign the rails with each other to be able to remove both rails (in hindsight this was probably not a good idea).
    I was able to get the guides realigned but now they are both so far forward that they won't retract back. Instead they are both now stuck in tilt mode, beyond where the bump stops should be. So far forward that I can't reinstall the glass. I think it is still in initialization mode. The motor just seems to spin freely when pressing the forward button but won't push it or pull the guides in any direction now. Neither tilt or retract buttons command a response from the motor- only the forward button. That's when I hear the motor but no action. Thank you so much.

    I just wanted ot share my recent experiance with aligning the sunroof lower guide pins in the tracks- so i have had the complete sunfoof track/frame replaced by the dealer in a 2021 F350 platinum. The glass is flush when everything is closed but when partially open or vented the glass is not square left to right due to the fact that the pins are in different postions in the track(grooves) the ramp rate is not linear so left and right will not be working in Tandem.
    after the dealer and I came to terms that the lower pins should be in the same postion i showed them this video they adjusted them as such now i have a larger issue ( @WhooptiDo) Had the same issue
    the pins are now in the most forward position (large holes) the pins are minimally smaller then the guide/track slots. when the lower guide moves along the track slot and comes to the larger hole it bangs into the hole.
    another issue with having the lower guides aligned how the video shows is that when the roof is in the vent position there is ALOT of play in the glass and the glass will bang up and down. You can take your finger tips and push up on the glass 1/2-3/4 inch because the lower guide pin is sitting in the large hole allowing the tracks to be loose.
    hope this helps .

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Před 4 měsíci

      If you have those problems, you need a new track or some serious adjustment. Something is not right with your sunroof if it moves as you described.
      The method I show to align/sync the lower guides here 100% cannot cause what you are describing.
      You simply have something else wrong there.

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  Před rokem

      Well then that's a problem. Make sure you have the rear trough/plastic drip tray loose from the arms. When you drop the motor, you might want to drop it all the way down and see if the cables are damaged.
      But most likely there's either a broken piece in there somewhere that you missed, or the lower cable guide is bad.
      I have a video in the description of which broken pieces come from which place...also show in it how to wiggle the lower guide and see if it's too loose or not.
      That said, I have had a few that didn't want to move and I kept working them back and forth and they eventually broke free and then worked fine. Must have been a broken sliver restricting them that I never saw. But they did eventually work. You just have to be careful with the plastic parts when you're push/pulling it back and forth, not to break it.

      You sure it's the motor? I've seen a ton of shades that make grinding noises, and it's always been the internal spring in the shade "roller" that was the cause. If it's the motor, just replace it. Just know that you need to replace both motors if you do. They updated them, and the new ones will not program with the old ones, so you need 2.

      @SealofPerfection  Před 2 lety

      @@jerryclark2859 Yes, lowering the motor is the next step. I usually don't worry about breaking anything, because if it's stuck open your options are limited, and it HAS to shut.
      So when you're "helping" it, what you're really doing is making the lower guide jump over the broken piece or pieces that are stopping it. And yeah, it could possible break it further, but there's not much alternative.
      Removing the motor and then pushing it closed might well work. Even if you can get it mostly closed...as long as it close enough to get the screws out of the glass and take the glass out, then you can fish out the broken pieces and get the rest of the way.
      But when it's open, it's impossible to get the glass out, even if you can get the screws out of it. I've tried. It has to be mostly shut to get the glass out...it can be a little bit open, but not much or it won't come out. Maybe half way at the max.

    Thanks for this vid. I have a couple quick questions:
    I just replaced the guides on my F250, both sides before and after look like your passengers side does in this video. Are they really supposed to sit all the way forward into the detent? Other videos I've seen of maintenance on these sunroofs shows them the same where it's not all the way forward. I know that they have to sit all the way forward when you remove the guides. My sunroof operates fine now (on to the next question)
    Also, what brought me to this video was the fact that after I replaced the rails, my drivers side closes, but not tightly. I can push up on the sunroof from the inside and it will seat all the way. So I presumed they're out of sync and I'd need to do something like this. Advice?

      Okay ask to the first part, I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but if you made them look like the one I had in the video, then it's right.

      @@SealofPerfection I got the both sides working now ,now they arent lining up with each other so I have to go back to your video to figure out how to line the up correctly I believe after that it should be fixed at first only one side was working … now I know why they are so expensive to fix haha 🤣 I’m trying to fix it before I go to bed here in California I don’t want to sleep knowing my glass is off thanks for responding 🙌🏽

    Hello, I've successfully removed the front glass, loosened the motor, and realigned both sides but the driver side only goes foward all the way and jams there clicking while the other side moves freely... each time either trying to operate the functions or doing reinitialization... passenger side seems to work fine but driver side has no visible obstructions, no cracks/breaks... looked at section above front seats and unscrewed back glass, slid it forward and don't see obstruction along cable track there either... thoughts??? 😊

      Are you 100% sure you got all the broken pieces out of there? Those are usually what restrict the movement

      Wow thank you @@SealofPerfection for the quick response!! So I've watched videos and thus ensured both the arms, the greased up plastic guides... everything front/back/all around look whole and I don't seen any foreign objects... it's still pretty clean... a 2020 model. I even tried the 'alignment/re-initialization' with the starting points all the way towards the middle of the glass with the window closed and it's able to move without 'obstruction' all the way forward... I'm guessing at this point I would have to further dis-assemble somehow to see if there is something preventing the cable from only moving in one direction...

      @@SealofPerfection They both seem stiff on both sides equally with the motor loosened and disengaged but I am able to use a screw driver to apply pressure and shift them in any direction forward/back while holding some of the weight of the glass up.... I even tried doing the re-initializing with them offset a reverse amount to see if it was just 'remembering' the positions incorrectly and to try to have the passenger side hit the limit first... but didn't seem to change anything.

      Would you know how to get the sunshade to close? My issue is, the motor is shot, the track arms and possibly the track itself. I'm not ready to drop the money to fix, but the sunroof is closed, but the sunshade will only close halfway.

      @SealofPerfection  Před 8 měsíci

      @@billhill5181 yes. The sunroof motor is not completely closed, and that is why the shade will only go halfway. If you are happy with the position of the sunroof glass, what you can do is use what I do in this video and drop the sunroof motor.
      Then turn the vehicle on and push the "close" button for the glass. The motor should move whatever little bit it needs to to be fully shut. Then the shade should go ahead and shut all the way
