Do u have shop in Chicago
@@hilalaiss just Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺
I just bought a piece of this fabric from a fabric store because it had a cool design/pattern on it.
It doesn't have foam on it and I don't plan to add any, do I need to worry about the glue soaking through the thin material and using looking bad?
Could just be me but it looked like you applied the glue pretty thick; could I get away with going thinner so as to avoid seepage through my thinner material?
@@RandoManFPV t65 glue sprays thinly, so usually on most non headliner fabrics, extra caution is required, but possible to not get any glue seeping through fabric, just don't puddle the glue anywhere 👍
@@ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs thank you 🙏
Love how you talked over after you shot the video. Also loved how you got right to the point with no stupid intro. Thank you, easy to follow.
Excellent, glad you enjoyed 👍 that was our goal with this video, and same for most of our newer videos, which is to get straight to the point, and don't waste anyone's time 👍
Our older videos had intros, and music etc, but moving away from that these days
Nice! No mumbling around, just straight up necessary information, quick and easy to understand!
Thank you!
Last month I replace the headliner in my Honda Ridgeline. I watches lots of videos but Reece’s videos were the reason I built enough confidence to take on the job myself. I buddy was going to help me, but got sick the day before the work was planned so I had to ask my wife to help me. I found Reece’s recommendation totally and the job came out perfect. Thanks Reese - the 3M adhesives were great too.
That's excellent to hear you got the job completed with help from this video, great work mate 👍
Ah wild me and my gf are working on replacing the headliner on her ridgeline rn lol.
I am getting ready to do my Ridgeline, how man cans of 3M adhesive did it take?
The best headliner replacement vid on YT. Short and to the point.
Many thanks. I'm about to do my first. This vid really helped.
Awesome, thank you!
Appreciation goes out to both you for making this so easy to follow, and whoever your cameraman was for following you so closely while you worked without getting in your way! Kudos to the whole bit of content.
Thanks for the positive feedback,
Just used the GoPro for this filming so just all done myself (filming, the job itself and editing) 🎥👍
I love how I was just googling headliner fabric getting ready to do mine in my mk4 jetta and then this video ends up in my recommended when I get on CZcams. Gotta love the internet these days...
When this was my job in the early '90s we never used a material with padding attached and instead had three different thicknesses of padding to choose from to install before the material. Often patterns would be installed in the 1/4" foam then overlaid with 1/8" followed by a customer chosen fabric. One of the best looking jobs finished was a black metallic fabric with roses in a black Monte Carlo SS.
Using foam is asking for it to fail again. I remove the foam and use thicker material and glue it directly to the board.
@@scootersonlyrepair6773
That would be best, but foam provides insulation from heat coming in from the roof as well as dampening outside noise. So if you like extra quiet or just like the cushioned feel, lots of foam is what you want. But like the videographer stated, if you put glue around the edges and fold the fabric over onto the back side, once it gets fastened back into place, it will be far less likely to start sagging around the edges and cut outs which is where the sagging mostly starts in the first place.
What if the cardboard part itself is sagging?
@@oldtimefarmboy617 like he said it not the glue it's the foam that fails so don't use foam wash your original liner and reuse it been doing it for ever just don't use as much glue and let it go tacky like your suppose to
Would the process be the same when doing a headliner like that? Glue the foam then the board, let it tack then spread the foam to the board, glue the foam then material, let it tack then spread material?
The best guys to do auto headlining repairs make the ultimate video
you are the only one to wear mask/protection! out f 4 vids!
I know, I see heaps of professionals using nothing at all, Exposure long term is not ideal, so definitely safety gear is required 👍
Absolutely the best video I've seen on headliner installation!!!
Thank you 👍👍😁
By far the most in depth and informative video I have ever seen on this subject! Will hopefully be replacing my headliner this weekend!
Excellent Ethan, thats great to hear, and thanks again for the positive feedback 👍👍
How'd it go Ethan?
I'm really glad you posted this tutorial under the FG ute headliner removal! I was about to try reglue my old headliner 😂 just ordered my new material and now I know how to do everything from start to finish! Subscribed 👍 with thanks
Excellent, thank You 👍👍😁
I watched Reece's headliner repair & was no problem with my 06 VW Passat with no s/r. Just make sure you have measured & get enough material! Thanks Reece!
Excellent video demonstrating headliner replacement, thank you kindly. If I was 30-50 something, I would feel capable to do the headliner replacement myself. While I am handy, even with severe arthritis, the amount of work that you expended, convinced me to hire an auto upholstery to redo the headliner on my old SUV. I very much appreciate your sharing this how to!
Glad you explained in English didn't realize how much more I have to do 😊
Thanks for the video, i replaced my hoodlining in my VE today and this guide made it so much easier. So big thumbs up and much appreciation from me for the easy to follow video instructions. 👍
Did my 98 accord tonight thanks for the tips it went great 😊😊😊 hardest part was the stupid visors going back in 😂
Holy moly you make it look easy. Very impressive!
Pulled the headliner out of my truck yesterday. Not once did I look up anyting on my phone. Bam today I get this video on my phone. Got to love it good looking out U tube.........
Going to attempt to do my headliner this afternoon in the Great Northern Alberta Canada...Thank you for your video it is very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Good to understand the problem properly. Thanks!
Well done, thank you for sharing your trade secrets with us. Can't beat the price ;-).
Very professional job, 10/10.
Excellent video, no BS, clear, comprehensive, good product info . A stand out effort, well done and of course very helpful.
Excellent, thank you for sharing your feedback with us 😀 👍
Best video so far in this content category.
Absolutely beautiful job guys. You can tell you guys know what you’re doing and you’re smart just to concentrate on one thing and do it well.
You guys are smart, and logical sticking to one speciality and being great at it.
Thank you 👍☺️
Amazing video, even though it’s been 2 years this is such a well explained and documented process that this video will remain timeless and very informative for a long time, like many others it’s going to help me with this project this weekend, cheers from Canada🤘🏼
Excellent to hear, I'm glad it's helping others complete their projects at home 👍😁 I aim to publish the content I wish I had back when I first started rooflinings around 2009/2012
A Top Vid Guy's Thank You. Bil in the UK
Dude great video...thanks
I do these... use a wire brush . Blow it off and dry rag it at the same time . Get fabric and spray interior glue and follow directions on the spray can . Put your fabric on . Done .
I wish the guys that replaced my Volvo S40 headliner had watched your video
Neat that I stumbled onto this now as I'm almost ready to do my AMC Eagle headliner here! Thank you for making this video
Really nice. It really shows you guys stick to headliners. Real experts at work, something I admire no matter what trade you're in... Really cool.
Best tutorial on headliners replacing I've seen. Thank you for the important little rolls you gave me along the video.
Well done. Very clear and concise. Right to the point. Thank you.
I studied auto body collision assessment and repair back in the late nineties at a Votech school as half of my high school day, Ave I have to say this was so smooth of an application. Serious professionals right here, well done lads!
Amazing job. Thank God for you guys!
Good job 💯
Great video, very well done... Big tip to anyone DD NOT use a cheap glue... it wont last long !!!!!. Max.
I had to replace the headliner in my 2010 Cayman S in 2018, after Hurricane Michael went by in Florida. The foam Porsche used didn't get dry and crumbly, instead it was sticky and a pain to remove all of it using acetone to finish cleaning it off. I used an upholstery grade vinyl (crocodile) with a cloth backing and affixed it using a 3M under hood adhesive and so far it hasn't moved. I did the job just like you did in the video.
Excellent, glad to hear you completed the process via following this video 👍👍
Absolutely fantastic step by step guide to car headliner replacement. You make it look so easy! A great video.
Great job!! You know when someone is a pro, when they make it look easy!!
I appreciate that! 👍👍😁
It's nice how professionals make it look so easy.
Excellent video, very detailed.
Great video. Looks like installation is easier then the taking apart the lights etc.
Very professional. Step by step instructions n easy to follow. The do's and don'ts are a must to follow thanks alot nw i can start on my one.
And if you live in Adelaide - just get Reece to do your headliner. He did my VZ Commodore a while back - great job and better than factory.
Thanks mate 👍 👍😁
You really DO make this look easy...
Great video and amazing explanation!!!
There you go 👍🏼!!
You verified what I wondered about reusing headliner material (el CHEAPO here). Very good video and narration. You really touched on all the critical points quickly! Camera work excellent! Working time must be longer than the M77 adhesives I have used for plastic laminate work. It needed to dry before sticking the laminate as to not trap gasses from the glue. Nice to have the forgiveness working with the M76 glue. WE SHALL SEE! Thanks for the video!
You need to use heat resistant glue. That’s the main thing about which glues to use.
Very handy video guys, inspired me to have a go at this myself
Nice easy to follow without a bunch of BS!
Good stuff. Made it look easy
This video is a godsend mate. Thanks heaps mate, really appreciate it. As soon as I get home I will be confirming the colour and ordering one. Can't wait to give it a crack!
Thank you for the feedback 👍👍😁 glad you found it helpful
Best headliner repair I have seen good job
Awesome professional job, thanks
Thanks for this. I get board so i learn new skills. Fantastic tutorial thankyou.
Great video guys - you've saved me time and money demonstrating how the repair should be done. Some rough idea about likely cost of material would be handy. For those of us that are more inclined to had the job over to a professional to get done, heads up on what you should expect to pay would handy. But all up great job - keep up the good work. Binnsy
Finished this up yesterday on the missos car
A little tip for those trying it on a sedan, you'll need about 2 cans of the 3m 76 (we used 77 cause it was all we could find in Vic) for the process. We had to run down rhe shop half wsy through to get it done. Good luck!
Wish I could like this twice. Very nice. Very informative and succinct.
Thanks.
Good job.👍 Thank you for making such a beautiful video, teaching us how to make our repairs.🤗
Seriously a great video! Perfect explanation and great camerawork! 👏
Nicely professional done!
I hope you realize that you have an EXCELLENT video here! -- I have never seen a video with as many 'Likes" as you have and not a single dislike! Kudos to you! -- I know this has helped me putting my daughter's headliner back on and into her car! You rock!
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us, much appreciated, and glad you liked the video👍😁
Now I can do my headliner, great video
Excellent description of the entire repair. Well done.
The hard part of doing upholstery yourself is knowing where and how much to make those cuts to fold around edges, so thank you for showing that. There's other hard parts like knowing what shape to ,are for, for things that need cushion but yeah.
What do you mean for things that need cushion? Are there parts where foam shouldn't be or add more foam?
Nice work mate 👍🏻 Thanks for the video
Very informative and step by step guide for the diy guy.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! Great job mate! Excellent directions and detail.
The hands of gold! 👍👍👍
You are an artist and a craftsman! Wonderful workmanship! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Thanks for sharing your feedback aswell 👍👍
will i ever redo a headliner? probably not. was this video super helpful YES😄
Great info here! Thanks so much for putting this together.
Amazing job guys
Very helpful tip to do by yourself
First time watching this channel, but kudos on the content of this video! I’ve been needing to redo the fabric on my sunroof shade and you answered SO many questions I had quickly. Thanks for sharing!
I just go to the dude who knows. I can't absorb any more skills. After 18 years of being a Handyman, I'm glad to have pros in the car business.
Excellent video!
Great video! My GF has a 2005 Mazda 6 that's suffering from exactly what you describe, so once the weather has warmed up here in the Pacific Northwest I'll be tackling a repair. The car needs a bit of maintenance and cleanup, and a fresh headliner will make a huge difference.
I’d would like to see removal repair and re install . If there’s a video out there some direction would be greatly appreciated. Great job 👏
This video includes the removal and reinstall stages

Lovely work mate. I am doing my 1998 Toyota Corolla in just a few days. Got all the material. Wasnt aware of those cuts to make the headliner cloth hug the headliner board nicely. Great tip thanks!
Excellent to hear mate, I'm sure you'll do a great job, just be mindful that most Toyota headliner boards can break easily, so will need to limit the amount of flex on these during removal and reinstall, and scrubbing the board gently is required 👍
I also have a 1998 corolla. Good luck!
Awesome video an great details without too much fluff. Thank you 👍🏼
Best video so far.
Nice explaned.
All best from Bosnia
Thanks for this video and your channel Reece. Really informative and helpful. Thanks.
Awesome job, very professional,👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👍

Easy to follow thanks reece!! Keep it up
hi, very way explained simple and to the point
Great video
Not sure how this got in my feed but I needed some guidance and this was top notch for the rear area in my project car. Looking terrific, cheers!
Oooo! What car? I've got a 2001 Impreza Outback Sport in the garage for fun. Only 150k on the odmeter. I'll need to do this as well, but first, the wheel bearings and timing belt!
It is odd about you not knowing how this got on your feed. I need to redo my truck's roof liner, but I have not spoken about it, nor searched how to's, nor googled it. Yet, here it is, on my feed.
Don't know how it got in your feed.
Ha ha mu ha muha ha ha
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make this
Great video, ill be doing mine this afternoon! Thank you!
