For what it's worth, a lot of edibles that folks use before bed are Indica. Sativa strains often have a much different effect on people and can subtly make one tap into their creativity. I am not saying that it's like a magic pill, but if you're doing something artistic like writing or playing an instrument, it can help you align with that part of yourself that is most creative from time to time.
the difference between sativa and indica might have been relevant a long time ago but it really doesn't mean anything anymore. nobody is buying OG kush or sour D at the dispensary anymore, this isn't 2007. with sativas, it's almost impossible to find strains that have that kinda manic, creative head high that sour D and other chemdawg hybrids have. AK and northern lights kinda have it, blue dream has a little, but I feel like most weed being sold as sativa nowadays have much gentler, less "sharp" head highs; it seems to be what the people want. and with indicas, nowadays most of them have so much THC that they're just as heady as the stuff being sold as sativa. the fact is that with most commercial weed strains, the differences just aren't that noticeable compared to old school or land race strains. or for an even more dramatic example, contrast with other plant drugs like kratom or shrooms. red and green vein kratom might as well be different drugs, and if (for instance) you take a couple of grams of azurescens thinking they're cubensis, you're gonna be in for a pretty dramatic surprise. compared to that kind of difference, weed is just weed.
