  • You may know her from her viral Netflix specials, "Quarter Life Crisis" and "Look at You", but this week's guest, the bright, witty, and ludicrously funny Taylor Tomlinson, feels duped! She thought she was coming on for a breezy conversation on first periods and childhood crushes, and instead found herself deep in a conversation on heartbreak, rejection, death, and mental illness. The hosts hold nothing back, too, this week as they reflect on sudden loss and middle school trauma. This is a special episode of Podcrushed you won't wanna miss. The results are sometimes awkward, sometimes heartwarming, and always relatable. Don’t miss our episodes with amazing guests like Jenna Ortega, Adam Brody, and Sophia Bush.

32:40 - when she accidentally got mustard on strangers's clothes. Similar thing happened to me to me twice - once was when I was a kid and I accidentally spilled mac and cheese on this man's white T-shirt at a HomeTown Buffet, and the second time was a person next to me at a college campus buffet line getting hot piping spilled on his arm due to my clumsiness. At the college campus, I got so embarrassed I decided to sit myself in a corner away from everybody as if I was giving myself a timeout for that accident. It certainly helps hearing her story knowing that humans make human mistakes - it's what makes us humans.
I also resonated with her at 35:18 where she was listing out her school crushes. Each year in elementary school I would have a different one, then I had one from all through middle and high school, and then a total of two in high school 😂

      Three favorite bits.
      1) The importance of sibling relationships.
      2) First crush and First heartbreak.
      3) How she felt about her BiPolar diagnosis and then how she felt about how she felt about her BiPolar diagnosis.

Insomnia baking or doing house chores is how I cope with chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome teaming up to keeping me awake. I'm actually awake now (almost 6am at my house) doing stuff because I can't get to sleep. I gave up trying to get to sleep after 2 hours...
I'm basically a night owl now. My 24 hour cycle is I sleep in the morning from 4-6am until midday and work in the arvo then nap for a couple of hours then work until 4am to 6am.
Work out what works for you then do it... If baking helps you to get calm or settle enough to sleep then use it.
Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

Its so true about siblings! Not that you can replace a specific child that was lost, but its likely you can still be a parent(of living children)if a child does pass too soon. If you lose a sibling thats been there for your entire life however, there is no way you can just "make another one" like we typically can after the loss of a child. Im not even close w most of my siblings, only semi-close to 1 sister but even then, I cant imagine losing someone who Ive known and grown with my entire life, someone who shares childhood memories and inside jokes, someone whos been w you in rough times, someone that gets you without you having to constantly explain, someone who can see the truth about your parents and family dynamic etc. I already feel quite alone in life but if I lost my 1 sister who gets me and all the chronic illnesses we share, it would destroy me and my will to go on.

I hope so much that my children love each other as much as Taylor's siblings love each other. My brother and I were friends, but then he fell into some serious mental health problems and became extremely irritable, resentful, narcissistic (seemingly, but that's not necessarily in a clinical way), depressed, paranoid, angry, and it became impossible to have a rational discussion with him. I don't blame him for his problems, but I wish I knew how to help him. Unfortunately, he is extremely difficult for anyone to be around, and I feel sorry for him and for myself.

It makes me very happy that she's so open and honest about her beliefs, her journey, her mental health, etc. I think this has the potential to help people heal from childhood trauma, from feeling discomfort with their internal thoughts and feelings, and of course to help with seeking out therapy for stronger mental health.

Taylor, if by any chance you read this comment know that the discomfort you had to endure on this podcast has had a real effect on my mood. The things you told and the smart things you are saying to yourself to keep sain give me inspiration. I am sorry you had such an intense experience but it will be an enduring positive model for many people who struggle with mental problems. Even though you are no longer a believer I do feel you are doing God's work by helping alleviate pain. You don't have to believe the American story about God to be doing God's work. God is love and you are pursuing the eternal love by helping people and being so bruttaly honest. I wish you a great life with emotional stability and hopefully a great partner to make you feel the love that you deserve. You rock! Much love from me ❤

So, I’m an ENFP married to an INFJ and watching Penn’s acting clips from the past decade which I missed since I was working night shifts in ob nursing and having our babies… so, anyway. The getting to know the INFJ personality type should come with an opening from Penn saying… “and welcome… to your own personal Hell where only you get the commentary and the subtext of life” until one day you look across the room at some other NF and they just pick up what you’re subconscious is latently putting down, but again only in subtext. 😂😊.

Taylor is bigger then these people. She should be on a COMEDY PODCAST. Idk what these people's appeal is at all.

Wow, didn’t realize she was so crude to the Lord esp after he’s done so much for her. I was a fan, I’ll be moving on now. We get enough disrespect from unbelievers but to have to deal with this from former Christians, NO! Very sad. Another Hollyweirdo who has sold herself to the devil for temporal fame. Good riddance.

Gee Molly, depending on YOUR life experience, it MAY be difficult to understand how you interpret another’s relationship. Not every relations ship is peaches and cream. To determine/judge another’s experience is not how Jesus intended for you to behave. Or is that too inconvenient to understand?
