  • Create a Digital Dash in any car! How to make a digital dash with Realdash and OBD2 link.
    Creating your own non permanent in car digital dash is easy, hopefully this shows you how easy that is and how cheaply you can make a digital navigation and dash set up in your own vehicle.
    Using realdash, however you can equally use Torque or Torque Pro, or even any other OBD scanning app on your tablet, however I prefer Realdash as it has some really stylish looking dashboards to suit any car or use.
    Any questions on how I got this in car digital dash setup to work in my car just write in the comments section and I'll try and help. Hopefully you find this an easy way for an interesting car interior mod for a digital speedo.
    putting a tablet in your car has never been easier or more fun!

  • @bradcogan8588
    @bradcogan8588 Před 4 lety

    It's probably the ECU that has a slow refresh rate. Your main dash gauges will have independent high speed connections whereas the signals for everything else are just for monitoring and warning lights probably so don't need to be as high speed.
    Quick question - Can you connect to get Bluetooth device while using the dash or can it only do one at a time?

    • @Raikolt
      @Raikolt Před 4 lety

      It's most likely the obc2 unit itself. Because you're using a bluetooth (network connection), it likely cannot send all the events with data at a rate of like 10hz. It's probably throttling down the sending of events to around 1hz because that's all the network can handle. an obd2 unit with usb support would fix this issue if your ECU is not the problem

    • @matk22
      @matk22 Před 3 lety +1

      the reason is due to latency. this latency is between the obd plug and the device, and then the app updating this information on the screen. this combination creates a second or so lag which is ok for general gauges and maybe even mph, but certainly not rpm

    How did you connected your ScanTool OBDLink LX Bluetooth? What "Source" did you choose in the "Garage"? I try OBD2 and Link ECU, and non of them connected. Can you please tell me about your RealDash connection.

    • @franciscodima8740
      @franciscodima8740 Před 5 lety +1

      I finally found out on how to connected it. With OBDLink you select OBD2. If you are using Link ECU, you also need
      to configure your ECU to send the data to OBD2 port.

      @foehammer2003  Před 2 lety

      Hey, well I'm using a different set up now, however at the time my tablet wasn't rooted. It may be that Android has changed some access features that now need a rooted device for the app to gain the same functionality as it used to. I cant remember specifically but is there not a work around across you can set to mimic similar functionality? If not then rooting may be your only option. If the tablet is purely for car use like mine was then it shouldn't matter too much, but that's up to you. Hope that in some way helps!
