His rendition of Hallelujah is so popular and respected pretty much everybody covers his version of hallelujah and not Leonard Cohen's original

Jeff was a beauty. He actually recorded a couple of songs after the Grace album, including "Everybody Here Wants You", which just a great, sexy song. Oh, and his father Tim Buckley was amazing, one of most versatile singers ever. I absolutely recommend everyone listen to his "Honeyman" live LP. Not for reactions, just for the experience.

Without doubt one of the best vocal performances I’ve heard, especially that last minute. And in an empty studio

He was so outrageously talented. The whole of the Grace album is beautiful and his death was so tragic and it would have been amazing to see what he would have produced over the years

The way I see it Buckley was like the evolution of grunge. When you look at what Pearl Jam was doing and moving into, he would have fit right into that sphere. The label was also treating him like a legacy artist from the start. They weren't expecting him to sell millions on his debut album, but they knew that with his voice, his musical ability and his lyrical skills, he would have been continuing like this for potentially decades to come. When he died he was working on the second album and the studio had apparently left him to do it in his own time however he wanted. From all accounts they were fully invested in whatever he could create.
When it comes to pacing a lot of his music also builds in this similar way, showing again that his skills stretched beyond his incredible vocals. He could really build a song up to something incredible that just leaves you stunned by the end of it.
I hope you'll consider reacting to more from the Grace album. It's sad that he's no longer with us but what he created is truly some of the most remarkable music of the era, not least because of that voice.
Oh, and Robert Plant has talked about Buckley before, he was a big fan and was blown away when he saw him at a festival he was playing.

If you hear the album you'll see the mix and production is not grunge, but this rendition was different enough to the studio mix to give that impression. He was/is revered here in Australia. The album Grace offers us one of the great rock/blue-eyed-soul vocal performances of all time. This guy could sing like no-one else and he was a supreme talent.

Jeff sang a lot about his time to die coming soon. In fact, this are some actual lyrics from Lover You Should've Come Over,
Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water (he literally had his shoes on). btw Jimmy Page said in an interview that Jeff was the perfect mixture of himself and Robert Plant. His mother released an album posthumously, that Jeff was working on at the time and was in the process of perfecting called Sketches to My Sweetheart the Drunk.

It's wonderful seeing this rare live performance and I loved the cool presentation of the Late show, The studio version really packs a punch and is more nuanced also, as is the entire album. It's just a fantastic record. So glad you checked him out.

    Thanks very much, guys.
You certainly aren't the only ones that missed this album at the time of release. It actually didn't receive great reviews at the time, but has now gone on to become immensely popular and very highly rated.
I lived in Australia at the time, and the album was pretty well known, because several songs were picked up by radio.
I've noticed in my 6 years here in the U.S, that word of mouth has meant that plenty more people know about him now.

Welp, here I am creeping on your old videos 😝... Honestly though, it's such a shame that Jeff wasn't around long enough for the world to truly appreciate him. He was known for being an extremely kind and gentle person, but he struggled with the music press constantly comparing him to a father he only met once.
I love listening to Jeff, but I agree, it really is difficult to separate the music from the tragedy. I'm glad you got to catch a glimpse of him though 😊

I kind of agree. It was actually me that requested this. I definitely wanted them to do a studio version of his, but seeing as they don't pause during the song, this would have more than likely been blocked.

@@stephencrowley3939 Some of Jeff’s songs, namely, Grace, Dream Brother, and Mojo Pin, are better live, while others sound better in the studio cuts. You chose wisely, here. As good as the studio version of Grace is, this is even better, and it is made all the more powerful with Jeff’s blistering performance; especially toward the end.
