Love that painting to post rock 🤘
Ha thanks for watching, always looking for music to add to the videos

great, feel free to ask any questions
GREAT content looking at getting the ultra max to do some MDF units. your clips have certainly helped.. i just noticed you have a Festool dust extractor would you say they are better or similar as the Mirka units and sanders
Gracias 🙏
Hi , thanks for the video very informative.....was wondering if you have tried the Tritech 206/306 Airless tips as a comparison to the Hvlp Graco 9.5 for spindles etc ?
The Man the Myth the Legend 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
🙌🙌 a tip of the hat to you sir
What paint are you using?
Nicely done si nicely done ✅! I spray some Helmi couple weeks ago, double coated it in a day too without any problems at all. The recommended re-coat times are 16hrs?. Still that don’t put me off, I’ll be using more in a couple weeks. Keep up the good work, and have a good weekend 🤛🏻
Awesome cheers buddy. They always told me the paint can dry through each coat. Ive never left it that lond as soon as its touch dry ha. Im going to give renner a go soon and teknos.
Have a good one ✌
Helmi is fine after 3 hours of heat
You make it look so easy. How much you thinning the helmi down by. Be great if you could do a video on thinning of different paints for use with the 9.5 and edge 2.
Thanks. Yes its one video in planning on making as get asked alot. I usually got for 5% to start and test then 10%;or if you get it to single cream consistency should spray lovely
Hi mate, great vid 👍 have you sprayed Aqua guard with this unit?
Thanks bud. Yes when its first came out. Sprays nice, usual set up really number 4. Thinned slightly
How many coats you ended up on that bare wood spindles? And how come you didn’t use airless sprayer, some ppl say that’s faster? Great vid, keep it up 👍🏻
I added it in the description. After sanding and filling i primed using Zinsser BIN. Then 1 x Tikkurila akva primer followed by 2x Helmi 80. I double coated the woodwork the same day top to bottom, left it an hour then recoated while it was still tacky.
I had my airless units mainly in wall and ceiling paints, it was a full house refurb so lots going on. Hvlp kept the material amount down as it doesnt use as much, some detailed work in other room so i wanted the control which you dont have with airless. But yes airless is fast, this can still go nearly as fast id you crank the settings up
Great video and work m8. I much enjoy watching your vids :-)
Anyway. I got the old 9.5 + Pro comp for extra power. But even so, I had no chance getting mine to spray anything without thinning it down almost as liquid as water.
Only used mine once on a project restoring a classic dinner table + 8 chairs. Used flat black, oil based enamel. Thinned down a LOT. The project came out very nice.
But I came to the conclusion that I could have gotten the same result and prb 4 times quicker using a LPFF tip with no material thinning. And prb with way less mist in the air.
But I can see the use and better control you have going over the spindels. So my question again. Do you think the new 9.5 is more powerful or about the same as the old 9.5.
And can you spray material without thinning. Witch was a the salesman pitch when I purchased mine.
Thanks for the support. Sounds like theres an issue, i always dilute between 5 to 10% it helps to measure out. Ideally need a 1.8mm needle in there. It can spray thicker too, thr machines are the same power. 9.5psi. The guns better on the new one. Mayne you have are issue with how its set up. Or not clean? Yes you can get a nice finish with the airless, use kore paint but still its fast. If you have too much dust in the air. You need to turn down the air on the gun youre trying to force out paint.
Thanks for the tip on lowering air to minimize the overspray in the air.
I love spraying Bin primer with 2.0 needle set. Almost no overspray. But spraying latex paint it’s a mess.
hi mate what paint are you useing have it got a shine to it while it drys ...i just got qtech 5 series hvlp gravity im busting
Hey. This one was Tikkurila helmi 80 waterbased gloss. It did have a sheen yes.
Hi Simon, hope you're well? Do you start at bottom for overspay reasons? Also when the handrails being brought in same colour, whats your method? Ive been leaving till last, wiping as i go with damp cloth, then do all last, results been good but is there easier way regarding overspray dust etc, thanks in advance for all time spent making these videos.
Hey bud, yes i usually do start at the bottom so over spray lands on wet paint if it does. And yes usually handrail last. Airless is alot faster and will keep it wet longer, so make sure youre putting enough paint on with hvlp otherwise ye it can go dusty
@@sprayaholic cheers for that, sometimes odd bit dusty on a flat area, but takes minutes to rub & touch up.
How are you my friend, I have a Graco 390 110v machine, but I own 220v electricity. Can you guide me about the parts that need to be replaced
Hi. You need to buy a transformer. This allows the 110v machine to plug into the transformer, and then the transformer fits to the main wall 230v.
Im not sure if you can just cut the plug off and replace with the one you need
I’m going to be doing a stairway with spindles and railing stained. Can you please show me your to tape down an anything else to avoid overspray. preparation for hvlp I have a procomp graco I am using for this.
I love my procomp with the in-line remote pot for versatility getting close to the the spindles to cut down overspray. I have a highboy 495 for general spray but for details I love the procomp.
When in doubt over mask. Dust will settle on anything in the area. So mask walls or floors. If you have a helper get them to be opposite side of the handrail so your overspray hits a sheet or board. You can buy an extractor to help too. Juat remember it may take you an extra 30 minutes to mask more areas and £30 more. But its alot less that trying to clean up mess ha
Extractor please what model’s do you use or recommend.
@@97krunch i had 2 from ebay. Not sure what models though
Do you always go hvlp on spindles never go for the airless?
No i do use airless too. Its just i had 3 of the airless units in different products and the hvlp gave me alot more control with other detail areas on the job.
@@sprayaholic what tip size would you use for airless on spindles?? I enjoyed the video and found all comments and replies very helpful
@@padgehind i often use a 110 or 108 as its minimal waste paint. Or 210 if youre not too bothered. Its helpful to have a sheet or board the other side to catch the overspray
Another great video. I keep watching as I’m struggling to get paint through my 9.5😩 I assume you really thin your paint. Is it correct that air flows out the back regardless of what pressure setting you are using. 👍
Thanks. No you dont need to thin excessively. Air blow out the back of the turbine always.
Have you seen my other hvlp videos? What are you tryinh to spray? Ideally need a number 4 with thicker paints, max thin of 10% measured out.
@@sprayaholic hi and thanks, I’ve certainly been looking at all your videos and not blowing sunshine up your ar** you have a good manner, . My background is a joiner who wanted a good finish on what I make and did a couple of courses and bought a trite T5 which is great. But for small one offs it just isn’t worth setting up so thought hvlp and saw your videos and thought I’m on 😁. Only set it up this weekend and tried macpherson primer well thinned but just wouldn’t push through or when I did get it through it was like water. Then put some akvi primer through which I love when using airless, I thinned it but was getting poor spray pattern and to get through had product almost set to max air past half way which I knew was wrong again confirmed by your video. Maybe I need to accurately measure paint. I was definitely going round in circles switching needles upping turbo etc. One thing that made me think was when I turned gun around it sprayed pretty good like a gravity pot would.
@@grahamwilson829 @Graham Wilson appreciate the support. Yes somethings definitely wrong somewhere. Is the air valve om the hose open? Is the lid screwed on properly?
Did you adjust the black dial on the front of the gun? The turbine speed dial doesnt make massive difference really. So put that on 6. I measure my paint. But have a look at this and you'll see the difference in material. Fill your cup. Use a number 4 needle set. Air on half. Fluid on 3. Adjuster dial wound towards the trigger to the wider setting. Should spray czcams.com/video/tcp6DH_SOV8/video.html
@@grahamwilson829 if you're using the pot on the gun
It can take like 20 seconds with your finger on the trigger to fully compress the cup. Also it works better when more material is in the cup. So flipping upside down lile a gravity pot woulr work with minimal paint and gravity let the paint down the gun
@@sprayaholic yes tried and checked everything, valve full open ,on hose then decreased etc to try different air flow, lid on properly and tried another liner, tried full liner then half full etc , altered front dial so wider spray pattern basically spent the afternoon watching your videos then back to my machine 😂. That’s when I questioned air coming from back of machine which they are obviously supposed to do. I am going to get a tin of haft primer as I need to spray a school chair for my wife which needs an adhesion primer so then I can replicate your video. I appreciate your time. 😩👍
I'm currently pricing a staircase and considering spraying but that's ALOT of masking
I wonder is there a way to do it without having to mask up all the walls??
It was a wallpapered wall thats why. But ye you can drop a sheet or cloth the otherside of the hand rail to catch overspray. Masking doesnt take as long as painting it all by hand several coats as spraying takes no time. Its just commiting to it
Yeah fair comment, plus spray is better finish@@sprayaholic
@georginawyatt8212 if you use the masking guns etc tape and polythene on the same roll you can mask alot in a small amount of time. But this was a whole house re furb so needed protection down for a while
Yeah I've got one mate. Absolutely love it it's such a handle bit of kit. Can you imagine having to mask without it!! Saves so much hassle. I'm currently trying to stick to mainly spraying and move away from brush as much as possible! Spray is the way!
@shanewyatt9939 something i use alot is the blue indasa poly with green tape attached. It fits the gun and its a good price from crown. If needed use a delicate tape for a line then tape and drape this onto it.
I'm in the south east of England (Kent) would love to shadow you for a day or two to learn how to use this machine/ techniques and such in real world application. I would obviously pay you, is this something you'd be interested in.
It is something I've done a few times. Got lads onto jobs im working on. Its the prep stage that takes the time spraying is easy. But the masking is what makes it really. Its just having a job where were not too pushed for time which can be the issue when we need.to be in and out. But watch this space
Why not start at the top?
Found if any overspray landed on wet it didnt go rough where if it landed on something dry it left a rough surface to spray on
@@sprayaholic Thanks, makes sense when you think of it in that way. Great tip.👍. Shame you don't have more subscriber, good channel.
