Anger and depression are closely linked. It's common for someone with depression to be excessively angry. Maybe he does feel ashamed and embarrassed now. Nobody knows the full facts about the situation anyway. The so called victim was 17 and a crack addict. 17 is old enough to know what you are doing, and drug addicts are manipulative, so it could be the case that the 17 year old drug addict manipulated Mr Edwards, a man who was suffering with mental health problems, and Mr Edwards is being made out to be the one doing the manipulating when it's actully not the case. Everybody is judging the guy on the very little that we actually know about what happened. Probably the only people that will ever know the full facts are Mr Edwards and the other person in question

In that respect I wish him well, and I hope he gets the help he needs, but it is no excuse for any actions that might have hurt others. I've had depression and anxiety all of my life. I've had multiple traumas and abuses and have ptsd and numerous suicide attempts because of it. But if I've done something to wrong others I own up to it, whether that was a result of my mental health or not, it doesn't excuse any hurt others suffered. Absolutely I thought exactly the same about being able to work, maybe he has a high functioning depression. How can this man not see it’s morally wrong. The victim might have grown up in a era or generation where taking pictures of themselves and sending them to others was the norm but Huw didn’t.
How can he be angry? I’m bloody angry because it makes you think crikey who do you know these days! Just goes to show you don’t know anyone. I would never in a million years guessed it was him. I had no clue who it might have been. People who are protecting him hiding behind his mental health are just as bad, and are the ones who allowed this to go on. I do feel there is a political angle to bring down the BBC because ideally they should have dealt with this and had the opportunity to do so, but I’m glad this has come out because at least I hope this will stop this happening to anyone else by Huw.
I also can’t help but think of Caroline Flack and people not daring or the media daring not to say too much for fear Huw might take his own life.
I hope we are all wrong but I can’t help thinking there is no smoke without fire. He will probably have to fear for his safety now because someone will probably attack him I would think, for being a sexual pervert!
It would have been better for him if he had come forward sooner. Also his wife works in the media industry so must have known the best way to “play” this, I hope someone can pay the crack addict for the sams mental health treatment.
What a mess! It’s made me think about giving up my TV Licence and boycott the BBC.

It is more than 'distasteful' to abuse your power (yes, such an abuse does actually seem to be involved here) to prey on young and vulnerable people. Whether any illegality has been committed is neither here not there. The same conduct would be utterly unaccepatble, for instance, in a university teacher, where there is an equivalent imbalance of power.

Why is he furious? Why did he send texts to some of his junior work colleagues? was his phone hacked? Why did he use devices supplied by the BBC and therefore tax payers to engage in his activities? There are now 7 people that have come forward. Ethics and morals matter. So he's now furious and now has serious mental health issues. Why doesn't he simply come forward and outline his version of events - supported by the texts from his phone and the pictures he did or didn't send and receive. Very easy to clear this mess up if theres nothing to hide right? His solicitors could do this on his behalf so he can get back to work, right?

Would John or Huw have any issues with a 60 year old married man with five children going online to entice young people to send him sexually explicit photos?, pretty sure they'd both be unhappy about it if it was their children. Henous behaviour and Huw will reap what he has sewn. Huw has added COWARD to his long list of faults by hiding behind his brave wife,he doesn't deserve her. Finally if i was innocent of these accusations I'd be front and centre to deny them while Huw has played the mental health card.

Surely the story is about the BBC as much as it is about Huw Edwards ?
Dubious behaviour by one of their most highly paid journalists was reported by the parents of a 17 year old paid money for sexual photos by the journalist. Six weeks or more later the head of the BBC wasn’t aware of the complaint and when he was he still didn’t talk to the journalist. As the head of the BBC Tim Davie should have been says “I’m on top of this” but he wasn’t and that is shocking. Tim Davie should resign but he won’t as neither did anyone at ITV over Phillip Schofield.

I can’t stand this ‘no crime was committed’ clause . It’s immoral debase behaviour and the young persons parents fear for their life, but that’s fine. Dirty old man & young man, a lifestyle choice eh to be politically correct. Public mustn’t say a bad word about it. The poor wife and kids. And the poor parents of this very young man. Imagine being told there is no case if yr child ( to you, the one you bore) is preoccupied pumping drugs & sex with 60 yr olds for the habit, and all we dunking hear is ‘ not criminal/ lifestyle issues. And the shame it is - we know his name. No other shame exists? An old rich guy pimping out a teenager and the police say that’s not their problem? Promising them money for tricks is legal ? Well fk our society propriety then.
