Great video! A lot of what you bring up is 100% true even if I 100% disagree with you. I think something that makes Kaguya’s first half so good to me is the fact that I never felt like the actual content got stale. Like sure there was slow romantic progression but each new chapter brought in funny gags, engaging drama, or character development which made it feel like something was always happening. I myself much prefer fast paced romance series because I much prefer seeing the actual relationship rather than the buildup to the confession. Kaguya was the exception due to just how relatable all the characters were and how much I grew to really like them. It helps I’m the same age as the characters as well, talking about stuff at school with my friends and then reading the new chapter to see similar types of interactions between the cast got me a lot more invested than I otherwise would’ve been. The characters just felt so authentic in their experiences and mannerisms despite all of them being ridiculously over the top which made me get personally invested incredibly quickly. Anyway those are my thoughts, really enjoyed your video and looking forward to your next!

It is unapologetically a romcom. It's natural for it to focus heavily on peak comedy, dragging us in and introducing the cast in the beginning.

Thanks for the compliment and also for sharing your experience! I think I've come to accept that I am picky with romance in general, beyond just Kaguya, because of my experiences with relationships in real life so it makes a lot of sense that other people's different life experiences shape how they feel about romance stories.

Everyone likes to gush about how great of a character Ishigami is (I do too) but I feel like Shirogane's arc is really overlooked. There is alot of subtle build up characterizing his fear of abandonment and showing vulnerability culminating in the reveal of his bedroom that really made seeing him open up to Kaguya and the others about his weaknesses one of the most satisfying payoffs of the series. I feel like its less common to see fiction that focuses on toxic overachieving and thought it really fit the story well.

Wonderful video as always, I enjoyed kaguya-sama as a whole, but I felt it was just dragging a bit near the end.

Thanks!! yeah I feel that. I read the last 5 volumes in one sitting so that helped a bit but it was a little tiring

shirogane , kaguya and ishigami are really well developed and written characters . But after tsubame stuff ishigami kinda lost his humour and become more serious . he is great as supporting character , but his love triangle kinda went too long and got boring .

Awesome video and was cool seeing a different, but still positive perspective on Kaguya. Nice that you added in the other perspectives as well.

i gotta give u props for framing this as a 'me problem' instead of tryin to say this is a terrible romance because xyz. I didnt watch or read kaguya so i have no opinion on this but soo often when it comes to- any piece of media, really, any part of it also, ppl confuse personal opinions and grdges with an inherent flaw that must be fixed, and not just, yknow, taste. It starts feeling very tiresome to discuss media w people when they get so angry!
    anyway, good video :]

Ishigami is my fav character. That's why i hate him ending up with Iino. He deserves better.

This is an incredibly well-written video!! Very cool man, very cool. I do wish we got to see the alternative direction for the conflict in the second half of the manga that you talked about, the Shinomoya family disapproving of Shirogane instead of the business-politics stuff, but I like what we got, too.
Also, have you heard of/read the manga You and I are Polar Opposites? The confession happens in the first chapter! It's pretty darn funny, can show a surprising amount of depth and maturity at certain points, plus it has that thing you mentioned you liked in Kaguya where every character gets a different dynamic with each other!
It's mostly just really comfy though, not very plot/character driven, so if you're less interested in it because of that I'd understand. It's a blast to binge but a bit difficult to keep up with over time because of that, imo.
Well anyway, I hope you like it!
Edit: I'd also like to mention that the lack of Ishigami and Miko's plot getting wrapped up is another big flaw of the manga imo, and I wish we got the payoff we deserved. I feel bad for long-term fans who'd been following along since forever. Other than that though I think it had a solid ending and wrapped everyone's stories up pretty nicely.

shirogane is my favourite romcom mc , i love the series but after 160 it had no goal to reach . it was like another cliche romcom , still good but peak was first half . also ishigami's love life got boring .

This manga I can sum up my feelings with “too much pointless focus on side characters” and “if we cut like 100 chapters the ending wouldn’t change for me” it still had a fine ending but I fell out of love with the series, it’s weird to think that the “comedy” part of the manga flatlines 40% of the way into it.

I have a love and hate relationship with this manga. I have at several points picked up and dropped the manga due to frustration with the story and chapter structure. Then several months later I'll be bored and think "Man, what is Kaguya-sama up to right now?" I skim the latest chapters. See it's interesting. Then pick it back up again. In particular I dropped the manga permanently was when Kaguya had that whole personality disorder arc, which pissed me off so much since it felt like the plot took 2 steps back. Then from there I occasionally go through some chapters just to stay up to date, but I didn't really follow the manga chapter to chapter anymore. I think the manga is a good 8/10 story.

i think if anime ends with movie it will be fine . i can't imagine another 3 seasons and seeing osaragi arc on screen , series lost the spark after that
