    Denji is such a good character because he is a man so beaten down his goals are just regular life. He falls for Makima over the smallest perceived care for him, something he has never once experienced. Denji represents what is buried deep down in every man, underneath work and worries and overthinking, we all have the same end goals. Comfort, food, entertainment, home, and someone who love you. Denjis life has been so terrible that those basic human necessities are seen to him as living like a king. Then he achieves a few of them and wants more like everyone else does. It is why his tonal shift in part 2 is so major.

      I just wish Fujimoto actually did something with this though. IMO he just stopped caring about character development and turned CSM into ''the suffering of Denji''

    CSM P1 was revolutionary.. like a breath of fresh air amidst so many modern shonen titles. It had such an impact that i see many new gen mangas like Wild Strawberry, After God, Gachiakuta, Dandadan.. to some extent are inspired by CSM.
    There are many modern mangas who have indirect/direct references to CSM. Shy, MHA, Me and Roboco and others

      Thank you, that is much appreciated! Yes, it did take a good bit of work, but I think it paid off! I do plan to make more of these, so long as people like this one. I have the Bat Devil Arc scripted already!

    This is the page by page analysis of Chainsaw Man I never knew I needed. Your analytical skills are awesome, you have things to say that make you stand out from the crowd. Also this is brilliantly edited. You flow from panel to panel and page to page very smoothly the entire time. And when you switched to the footage of the Devilman manga, you used pages that emphasized what you said. This is an awesome video dude. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series.

    This is so well thought out and well done, I would watch a 15+ hour vid of you covering every chapter like this. Chainsaw Man deserves this kind of deep dive coverage.

    I really enjoyed this. Always wanted someone to just talk about the whole series instead of trying to analyse how the story is making a specific point and taking everything from that angle.
    cool to have them but only after a long in depth chapter by chapter. always felt its missing from normal read through and the comments.
    hope to see the rest soon!

      Yeah, it's a little different for me as well. I usually write around a single thesis for my videos. Writing an analysis chapter by chapter, page by page, is a little limiting because I have less to draw from at any given point, but it also lets me point out things I otherwise wouldn't. I'm excited to see how it'll work with future arcs!

    • @sora5982
      @sora5982 Před rokem

      @@NINJAMUSHI I think it can only get better as it goes, just like the manga itself. chainsawman just feels kinda dense due to its pacing so I feel the content to unwind is there, especially seeing how long the early chapters took.
      I often feel like theres a lot left to talk about when watching thesis based videos. Its cool to see how some dots get connected and show something I didn't see before but I almost never see a simple talk about what the manga was. I think too many people just assume its too lazy and uninspired and never do it.

    Thank you for the analysis! Funny detail I noticed in myself after reading CSM - this is the first time I ever felt some weird maternal feelings towards a shonen protagonist lmao. Not someone like Eren or Tanjiro, who were obviously traumatized by the brutal deaths of their mothers, but Denji. Maybe because it seems like he never had a normal life at all. He is the epitome of a neglected kid, never having any guidance or support system. Putting his bad health and horrific living conditions aside (let alone the terrible story of his dad omg), now he is almost an adult who is uneducated, ill-mannered and probably unlikable for a lot of people. Yet he yearns for human connection and is willing to follow any woman who promises him some warmth. Happy to see his development, he deserves a normal life.

    18:00 i feel like him prefering more important panels over others should be fine considering that its a serialized story, not every panel needs to be a stunning wallpaper worthy image, its can just be a pic

    Sweet. Can't wait to see the rest of this series. Pointed out a lot of details I didn't notice about the first chapter in relation to the tone, themes and subversion of tropes. On the idea of the mentor though, I find it kinda funny how Aki is the mentor for like him and Denji's first meeting and Eternity devil arc, but then aside from that he's basically just their caretaker/big bro for majority of the story. Fascinating stuff man.

    this arc of them manga makes me appreciate the story way more as a franchise. the first 3/4 part of the International Assasins arc was mid and boring IMO, all we see is random fodder characters being shown UNTIL they finally visit hell and we get introduced to The Darkess devil and Quanxi and Denji team up fight with Puppet Girl. When people call it "best arc" I can tell they cant possibly mean they love seeing boring characters like the 3 brothers or the new Public Safety randos and antagonists, honestly the arc feels like a filler arc for the most part. And I read it again yesterday to refresh my memory, the only good part is the near end with Darkness and Puppet Girl's death.
