Lol with chickpeas
3 basic things I found, 1. stay away from any type of food that is processed, 2. cut sugar totally and 3. do fasting...
best thing to do is eat air. it's low calorie, and bakes very well. it might raise insulin though.
â@@jamesgarner2103 LOL, one thing that raises insulin is a diet high in carbs and low in healthy fats
â ïžâ ïžâ ïž
Same. Add in strength training and walking outside.
Date paste and tamarind paste is good sources for sweet taste and caramel/toffee taste. Just need some testing with suitable ingrediens. After that no need for processed suger .
When I was 18 I decided to lose weight. I weighed about 205 lbs. and stood around 6 feet tall. Here's what I did. . .AND IT WORKED!!! I began jogging every day (LONG before jogging was even close to being "a thing" to do). I didn't run very far, but I ran EVERY DAY. I quit eating sugar and carbs. NO bread, cake, cookies etc. I only ate protein, beef and a little fish once in a while. . .And lots of veggies such as broccoli, some peas and carrots, and some green beans. I drank water, some unsweetened tea, some unsweetened coffee and diet sodas once in a while as well. I became addicted to this routine as the weight began to come off. In fact, I took it too far and finally at 145 lbs. I said enough is enough and stopped being so strict about my diet. But I did NOT go back to much sugar as I had kind of lost my taste for it, and even though I did go back to some carbs, I didn't overdo that either. From that time on I have maintained a weight of around 157 lbs. ever since. I'm now 73 and I've noticed a bit of fat around my middle since I became a "covid recluse" for the past three ridiculous years, but I can handle that now that the world isn't demanding that I "hide out" in my apartment anymore. My point is that after my diet regimen at 18 to lose weight, I haven't constantly denied myself some things I want occasionally, and my weight hasn't gotten out of control. I think it's more common sense than having a list of this is OK and this isn't. I pretty much KNOW what isn't, and just don't overdo those things. So now at 73 my motto is, "Everything in moderation. . .Including moderation."
Thanks, I'm 6'00 and have been 205 for the last 20 years, I gained 21 pounds in the last 3 weeks because I have been sugar binge eating sugar like crazy which facilitates more Sugar cravings. I've eliminated sugar for 3 days, fasted and I cannot believe my body is changing already in 3 days so I will walk, not run, 30 minutes a day but also follow your matrix!!

Amen!!
Good summary of healthy eating...it took me over 50 years to come to this same conclusion đ Low carb, high fat eating only real foods now. You still can see him in CZcams, good looking guy, still good looking until now grrrrđđ·
Yeah, I think I read somewhere that he was top 10 (maybe 9th) in the Olympics he competed in. Some people think that if you don't get a medal, then you failed. Top 10 in the world is an outstanding achievement, making him a premiere world-class athlete. I was a college runner, not Olympic material (didn't even qualify for Olympic trials in my event, the 800, missed by 3 full seconds, which is a lot), but I know how much work goes into getting to that level. (In my case, I put in the work, but simply didn't have the physical talent to get there.)
He competed in decathlon. One has to be good in 10 types of event.
Never doubted his claim to Olympics.

Thank You Carmen Nykamp. That really makes my day when people from all walks of life start sharing the content for the betterment of mankind. đ
Great job Carmen, I tell my family all the time what good is having money if youâre too sick to enjoy it. Time will tell.
Actually, that's really effective FINANCIAL advice, since your clients' improved health will quickly translate into money saved. And, if they're still working, then by improving their health, looks, and brainpower, they will probably make more money, too.
I've saved tons of money keeping up with good health all these years! 50 yrs old..haven't seen a doctor in about 20yrs or so, haven't even had insurance in almost 17yrs! $$$$$$$$ tons of money saved in rip off America!
Sure I might have cancer soon from the environment, but how long do we really want to live in this messed up world?
I lost 140 lbs in one year, and I absolutely ate beans, bananas, berries, etc. what I cut was starch from pasta, bread, rice, and potatoes, and lessened my portions, and I used intermittent fasting. What works for one may not work for someone else, but I WAS fat, and did have a big belly, and I lost it eating many of the foods you say not to. đđŒââïž (I am not, and have never been diabetic. Maybe that makes a difference.)
Starch especially sweet starches like donuts cakes. Also with me ice cream makes me gain weight
In science we call this anecdotal fallacy. "My uncle Louie smoked and drank everyday and lived to 110." We don't know you or your diet before and after. However, science has shown that it is possible to eat fruits and carbs and be healthy. I haven't eaten meat in over fifty years and am extremely healthy.
It also depends on your life style. But this doctor is simply presenting factual numbers, when it comes to these foods' characteristics and properties.

David Gladstone What are the little treats you allow yourself? Also, how long did it take you to lose the weight?
I'm diabetic, in remission. I went from 225 to 145 because of the diabetes, then leveled out when I got my BG under control. I've gained 9 pounds since I started eating lots of home-made chickpea hummus. It doesn't make my BG go up a lot, but it stays up, sometimes around125, for a long time. Like 4 hours or longer, and even into the next day. And I love hummus, I could live on the stuff.
Ever since I discovered this man last year he has changed my family's health and diet/lifestyle. So grateful! Hopefully we can travel to your clinic one day!

Agree! I live in Florida, maybe a long drive but so very tempting. Been trying to find something comparable, more local without success so far. Many of the Homeopathic listed doctors here appear to be on the weird side, at least to me but really don't know. Dr. Ekberg comes across very scientific, well thought out reasoning vice using Voodoo magic for cures.
Yes, he explains things very clearly.
Dr Ekberg is a brilliant communicator with a great approach. These short videos with clear, calm explanations started me on my road to (much) better health, over a year ago. So so grateful!
The last sentence is pure gold : "You can never predict an individual case based on the everage statistics". It is true not only in the medical field, but in every domain of life. Pitty so few people understand that.

The PowerPoints are great, he talkâs in a perfect speed and he articulate every word perfect. A professional rhetorician. Thanks CZcams algorithms for this tip đđ»đđ»
Your English is really good, but may I make one correction? There's no need for an apostrophe in the word "things", which is just a plural (more than one) and "talks" which is simply a verb. I wish I was as good at your language as you are mine.
Go to the parameters on the upper right of the screen. Choose subtitles then the language you need

@@drekberg You are precisely correct. Understanding how and why something works enables Someone to take correct action to fix it. You practice the long lost talent of teaching people how to think
Today, people are trained to simply believe whatever they are told, Is beginning an elementary school, At least since 1960s.
They are not taught critical thinking and because of this, Hundreds of millions of people believe all kinds of lies over the last several decade.
Like the food Pyramid which Was taught in all-American schools, Which demonized fats, Eggs, meat and told you to eat more grain. I remember after Americans followed this everywhere, everyone got fat and heart disease got worse.
The same thing happened withappen with political and historical beliefs as well.
So many people believe Ridiculous things just because their teacher, professor, and especially someone please someone in the main screen media dear told them to think that.
Agreed about his personality and generosity too. My insurance would never cover five minutes of what we get from him. We're very lucky to have people like him willing to help others.

Dear Dr. Ekberg I just love your dry humour on occasions, those nuggets just make all these facts more easily digestable. Keep up the good work you've done.
Brilliantly clear video. I have written several books on weight control and I love to your clarity and precision of explanation. I particularly liked the reference to the tyranny of the average. Very few studies have enough participants to look at the fringes of the scores to draw conclusions. Perhaps the best was. How does one do intermittent fasting without going crazy? What's the secret? If I miss one meal, Its a huge deal.
@@steve54 I just started by skipping lunch. Never ate. Breakfast. But I ate snacks. Probably 6 times a day. And that would include a 12 oz Coca-Cola. So I just cut back on the Inna Coca-Cola. Until I had it down to one meal a day. Try putting two spoons apple cider in a glass of water. Almost taste like beer drinking. Apple cider. So it doesn't have any calories so it's not breaking the fast. And you feel like you're drinking something not just water. So I weigh 240. As of today I weigh 150. That's good enough. My military papers said I weighed 152 when I enlisted in the Air Force at 18. We just had a big birthday party I bet I weigh 152 now

Weight loss is probably one of the best things to do for the majority of people. I had started the keto diet last to get my weight down to 190. I started from 205. I'm 6-1. I was worried about how my blood work results would work since I've never eaten so much meat before. Especially with the eggs and bacon or sausage in the mornings. @@martineiradukunda298 Currently I am not eating fruit except for a few berries.
I avoid starchy veg like potatoes and anything made with flour.
I eat meat and fish with some vegetables like cabbage.
Fruit, starchy veg and anything made with flour will make you hungry 2 to 3 hours after eating.
I do not use any vegetable (seed) oils, I use dripping or lard.
Have a look at Dr Sten Ekberg's channel, he has good guidance.
easy for you guys but for me snacking and regular meals is the only thing that works. if i take too long between meals i end up overeating when i do eat. and for me a meal has to be something hot. otherwise its a snack in my mind.
This, for me, was your best video. Sometimes you get over my head. Thank you so much for educating us!
Me too! đ
This channel is all we need when we trying to loose weight.
Thank you Dr Stan for helping me understand a highly complex and confusing subject
Dr Sten, thanks for the great information. Your voice sure calms a person down. Thank you for caring about us. â€
a large thank you for your insights, and sharing this information.
the once a week format leaves room to digest the points explained.
each week I look forward to seeing what topic you discuss.
thank you Dr Sten.
Thanks for this great video. Learning more each day.
This is such a good analysis. Thank you Dr. Ekberg - you're always on point.
i am a type 2 diabetic and all i can say is after ditching metformin and eating healthier there is a big difference just the way your energy levels stay consistent.. this man has helped me alot and i thank him for it. always delivering useful info. the eating less and feelin less hungrier is definitely true!
i ditched my metformin by going vegan, guess there are different ways....I stopped eating meat/dairy/ of course butter/olive oil....still love my Ezekiel Bread!! Good luck!!
Yes Iâve also been prescribed metformin âŠ. Does it not work ?
I am about to do the same! Type 2 d and high tryg
Metformin didnât help my mom to lose weight. She passed away from T2D complications. Change your diet and DONâT take this medicine. I believe it killed here more quickly. đą
Nothing wrong with metformin for most. People controlling my diabetes well and no side effects whstsoever
Just discovered this channel recently, been watching him daily as he threw all my previous âwhat-I-thought-I-knewâ about food into the garbage. His discussions make so much sense to me.
Excatly! I just found him as well!

I've been doing own research for 15 years I never believed anything I heard or read until I confirmed with my own tests / experience,,
@@lightbeingpontifex you're a madman but I like your style
excellent clear argumentation as always - health improvement starts in the mind!
You explain things so well... a true teacher.
I am learning a lot everyday. Thank you for opening my eyes.
Thanks for putting this channel out there. I've used many of your tips and have lost 40 lbs on my 100 lb wieghtloss goal.
Congratulations! You go this. Keep me posted as you go along the remainder of your weight loss journey. You can do this. Don't give up.
Thanks for sharing sir. God bless you.
Brilliant presentation! Very amusing đ and logical reasoning is always satisfying đ đđŒ
I appreciate how you go to the root of analysis !
Iâm someone who lost 40 lbs doing Keto. But I havenât gained any back at all eating carbs again. As long as I keep my daily calories under 2000 a day the scale never goes up. Iâve even continue to lose while staying in a calorie deficit but it requires eating less than 1500 cals a day. So from my experience - do Keto to lose the weight. But once you lose what you want to lose you can go back to eating carbs as long as you keep your calories in check & youâll be fine.
Thank you for the very clear information .
Words matter. Thank you for this clarification đ
Watching your videos is so empowering!! Thanks Dr Ekberg!! Regards from Argentina!!
Thank You Crist 24. That is my purpose. đ
Thank you! this video helps me not feel crazy when these "healthy foods" they promote make me almost pass out with fatigue.
Love your videos, been vegan for about 10 years, but started carb cycling about 2 years ago. Much happier with my body these days đ
HiâŠ.Did you also loose weight
@@fireside007 yes, I lost half a stone easy đ
Creepy vegans.
@@HeathenDance Yeah, like they don't eat corpses, that's creepy.

Great explanation!
Thanks a lot, indeed!
Thank you for breaking these down. I feel more informed and will try to make more better decisions. đ
Amen sister...đ€Ł
Love the arsenic/mercury analogy. Brilliant!
Super video. Thanks Dr Ekberg
This is one of your best videos. Absolutely superb concept.
Hi, Dr Sten, happy that I found you, learned so much about our body, it has made a big difference in my life, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Iâm studying nutrition science-just want to say this was an excellent thorough analysis. So many âexpertsâ are using conjecture and not backing up with evidence based peer reviewed RCTs-longitudinal studies. You are a breath of fresh air in the quagmire of diet âexpertâ quacks. đđŸđđŸ
Hard science and results are the best regimen
@@alhamilton8690 Agree, but hard science has the bad habit of becoming the wrong science a year or two later!
@Misbah Wolf Yes like the wheatbelly nonsense that has close to zero backup from research or science
Yes..and there so many misleading articles in otherwise reputable e-news papers which dont give any opportunity for comment, and those that do allow commentd block you if you challenge!
am a scientis in biomedic Sci and I love his presentation. to the point and with critical thinking. thank you
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Very informative and usefull, still there are so many things to learn from you. Thank you, have a nice weekend
Thank You Slavica Sani. I'm so glad you found it valuable and I appreciate the feedback. đ
One of the best videos you've done: very clearly explained, demonstrating excellent reasoning. Will be sharing it with others.
Always informative. Just watched a workout video, wow harder then it looks but well worth the effort to try.
This guy is like the Athlean channel. No matter what you do itâs wrong, even if itâs what they tell you to do. Wonderful.
I have up on athlean x. Try Erin Stern. Much better.
Great information! Im going to rewatch it later to make sure I absorb it.
Thank You Missing Link MTB. You said the magic words. It is not enough to know "about" something. You need to immerse yourself in it until you absorb it and own it. đ
Been watching so many of your wonderful videos and learning what foods to eat for insulin resistance.
Have you thought about creating a cookbook? I need meal ideas to stay on track!
Dr. Ekberg, can you tell more about hypoglycemia and insulin resistance at the same time? And what to do about it?
Absolutely Brilliant spot on mate
No no's for belly fat:
- Bananas
- Flavoured yoghurt (whole, plain & sour is fine!)
- Complex carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, whole grains)
- Chocolate skim milk
- Black beans, lentils (turns into higher levels of glucose once digested)
It is all about how the foods affect insulin.
The type of food despite of calories being the same has a much different effect on your body.
Hard to believe this is true with skinny vegans eating tons of this stuff.
@@MS45636 their Insulin is already low. Obesity is a hormonal issue. If your insulin is already high, and you eat same food like a skinny person( eg high carbs, processed) you will gain weight. My husband is super skinny and I'm super fat. I followed his eating plan and I gained more weight while he didn't. He has low insulin
@@healthyellafitkilo7625 ok what about an 80 10 10 vegan diet, can anyone really get fat on that? you know 80% carbs, 10% fat, 10% protein. (just assuming it is healthy for a second)
@@MS45636 I think the good doctor is giving advice for folks who have a genetic disposition to be obese... I dont have that problem, thankfully, I eat all the foods he says not to eat, and I'm lean and fit. I'm a runner and go to the gym. I eat what I want with regard to carbs or I wouldnt have energy to work out. This stuff is more ideology than science sometimes...
@@healthyellafitkilo7625 I find this somewhat hard to believe. I have a low metabolism rate and I eat religiously for working outside to combat the heat, a banana, green tea, oatmeal bar and drink water until lunch.. Once lunch hits, it's a moderate portion size with veggies and has most of the stuff he's talking about. I stay within a 1500 calorie deficit and stay away from sugar and most salted food.. I was 268 I'm at 205 now and I found just eating right will make you lose weight faster than going to the gym but of course all three are extremely helpful in losing weight fast. I even went to get lab work done with blood work too, I'm completely healthy thankfully and just lacking in vitamin D but that's because I work outside and try to cover myself up as much because I didn't do a good job taking care of my skin in my younger 20's.
As always, great information and some inspiration to stay with healthy eating habits

Excellent video. So glad a friend directed me to your channel.
Love these informational vids.
I suffered for about 20 yrs + from a young age to my mid 30s when I gave up with my doctors and their "conventional" approach as I was just getting worse never better.
So did research stopped wheat and dairy
It's taken some time but now I'm in a good place, recently started the intermittent fasting and cold showers and never felt so good I've actually gained muscle mass which is something i always struggled with.
Another bonus the debilitating migraines I used to get , disappeared completely. đ
