- Everyone has a mother. Even the Primarchs, so it's no suprise that their recently revealed mum is a pretty interesting character herself.

Not true, Kurze was meant for deliverance and vica versa.
This is the only acceptable answer as currently written. If this is not cannon, then I'm sticking with the pre-Erdra Lore.
Why would she be double crossing chaos by sending them into the warp it’s quite literally the realm of chaos. It takes .5 seconds of reasoning to figure that out
the probelm with her character is that she shows no moral reaction to her moral decision, she claims she did this as an act of love, because she wanted the primarchs to be free from the emperors plans, but she shows no reaction to the fact that nearly half of them landed on planets that could have killed them, 3 of them got fucked over like no other being in the galaxy (mortarion, angron, konrad), she shows no reaction to the fact that there is a war caused by horus and now the primarchs are trying to kill each other, she shows no reaction to the fact that 4 primarchs are deamon princes by now and 2 are dead and 2 long gone. If a character shows no moral reaction to the horrible consecuences of a moral decision, then that moral decision becomes pointless and stupid.
At least she should have been working relentlessly all those times to fix her mistakes for both practical and moral reasons. I don't she adding the primarchs mother a bad thing as it can lead to interesting story lines. Problems is gw is well-known for executing a good concept terribly
Karens are at it again!
When did she show this reaction? If it was centuries after the event, she may have had time to get over feeling sad, and adjust to a new reality that whatever she does either plays into the hands of the emperor or chaos, so why bother

Shoehorned? Maybe. Can they use her to make good lore of at least interesting plot twists? Let's wait and see.
This is how I will have done it, after Erda help scatter the Primarchs the Emperor was blinded by rage and killed her. Using his psychic powers to completely destroy her soul, permanently killing her. The chaos gods show this to Hours and a few other Primarchs to get them to rebel against the Emperor.

I loved to think of the primarchs as simil-clones of the Emperor, having only his "pure" DNA modified to make some of his traits more prevalent than others. In fact it is always been said that each primarch personify a specific trait of the Emperor.
I don't know, it seems to me this vision works no more if there is a second DNA involved into the primarchs creation.
I also loved the kind of father-sons aspect of the story (even if sick and brutal). Knowing there is a mother now who was nowhere to be found for 10 thousand years seems just stupid.
@@SwedishBroManDude big E was NOT there for his sons dude if you read the lore on all the primarchs the only one he was there for was Horus and he was Daddys little boy when he found the others he basically just spent the immortal equivalent of like a week with them then handed them a Space Marine Legion and said "there ya go Son tell the grandkids i love em byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeee" then they never saw each other again for like a couple centuries.

The only thing that this retcon adds to the lore is that we now know where did failures as Lorgar came from. I mean, it's really doubtful that nature vs nurture comes into play when you are engineered from perfection and raw might, there must have been something bad in thrown into the mix.
At least they could have played it off as she took the babies in a ship and tried to escape Big E, but the 4 chaos gods joined hands and make like a portal that destroyed the ship, killed the mother and in her last breath she was able to use the warp to scatter the babies so that way at least we know that why the reason she wasnt mention was because she was dead and Big E didnt mention her.
@@michaelkean5969 He was kinda busy. And the Primarchs were all adults by the time the Emperor found them, yet they still act like petulant children centuries later.
Gotta agree with the idea of showing Big E being helped by other perpetuals as a way to point out that he isn't a perfect individual, makes him all the more human rather than a god (as he would want to be seen). It's a much better way of showing his imperfections than making him incompetent, or uncaring towards matters that could and probably did change the end result of the Horus Heresy.

You should do a video about the primarchs adoptive parents that raised them.
I still find it weird that a man that could literally summon the ghost of the dead to fight for him, create shit from nothing, fix machines with just a touch couldn't find a way to find a substitute for birth.
even if the primarchs were test tube babies, they'd still need a maternal donation of DNA, cloning a person can be done in two ways. Taking genetic material from the subject and attempt to foster grwoth into a second copy of the subject, or by taking genetic donations from the parents (this would be a bit like rolling two 20 sided die and hoping for the same random result twice, but can be circumvented by modifying the genes within the donation prior to the firtilization stage) and then letting that grow in an artificial womb.
His plan was effectively this: make the next stage of evolution
Now… yes making them in a tube was what was needed for safety.
But once you get the ball rolling you’d get the end result… problem is that Vulkhan was the only one to succeed in this to a certain degree.
However keeping your eggs in just 1 basket was a bad idea because anyone could stomp that basket.
So just spreading out to take land to act as a fertile land for these new beings to evolve and procreate to make the next evolutionary stage sounds like the next logical step.
Make a empire.
Empire collapses.
Make the next stage of evolution.
Sabotage.
Spread out, collect the primarchs along the way and then use your crumbled kingdom as a body to develop into the next stage of evolution.
Honestly I feel like this was a stupid retcon on GW’s part
I feel the same way, but they also seem to be “fixing” the primaris marines, so now I’m in a bit of “wait and see...?”
But I also watched Star Wars, so I’m on the fence, still in the “let’s overlook this until more lore”
To be honest, I think it would have been a lot better if it was revealed that the reason why Erda decided to scatter the Primarchs through the warp was due to the manipulations of Chaos gods. For me at least, her decision to scatter the Primarchs because of a grudge against the Emperor is a bit silly.
Also, where was she during the whole of the Horus Heresy?
She claims she wants to protect her children yet she does jack shit when her sons are literally killing each other. It just seems poorly written. Another reason why she is such a divisive character amongst the 40k community is because she shows no regret for her actions. Trillions of people have died as a consequence of her betrayal against the Emperor and she does not seem to care. She also appears to be very vindictive when talking about the Emperor describing him as a "freak of freaks'' which turned a lot of people off.
It just seems to me that the entire cause of the Horus Heresy was due to the actions of an uncaring father and a spiteful mother.
Definitively a stupid SJW retcon. But GW is getting W0K€ now and the whole 40k universe could not be dominated by a male, could it?
@@loucypher3914 I don't really see how this is an example of GW being woke. She only makes a brief appearance and after that, she pretty much fucks off for the rest of the book. She even says that she can't do anything to help the main character. Aside from the Erda debacle, the book is actually pretty good with a lot of epic moments.
The fact that the Primarchs have a mother is not the reason why so many fans are upset but rather it is the way she was introduced into the story. There was almost no build-up to such a massive development in the lore. She pretty much showed up, talked to the main character and fucked off. If the writers actually took time to develop her character and build up her narrative then I doubt there would be such a massive outcry.
Also at the back of the book, the author even says that their intention was never to shoehorn in such a random character for shock value or, in the case of Star Wars, "to subvert our expectations" but rather they wanted to show that the Emperor was not solely responsible for the Imperium's success. Instead, it was a team effort that involved the likes Malcador the Sigilite, Valdor, Amarr Astarte and Erda.
There is this widespread image amongst many 40k fans that prior to the end of the Unification Wars the Emperor was just this random dude jacking off into test tubes in his basement under the Himalayan mountains in order to create space marines that would help fulfil his dreams of galactic conquest. I think the writers wanted to go against this narrative and show that it was more of a team effort and involved a large number of people.
@@christopherjohnston4100 As one of those guys, I did know that the Emperor did not do all of it alone. Malcador, Valdor, 9.999 other Custodes, Thunder Warriors, millions of scientists, workers, soldiers, and so on. Absolutely no need for Miss 'Astartes' and Mommy-Primarch. We already knew about a huge team effort.
Another thing: What about the Word Bearers creating the storm that took away the Primarchs according to the Horus Heresy book series. That was first person perspective. No mention of the female suddenly opening warp-gates.
It is just a stupid woke retcon.
How could male super-soldiers imbued with chaotic warp energies, fused with deamons, create a warp rift? That's nonsense, it was of course a whaman, and the bestes evar of course. A perpetual who happens to be the 'mother' of the Primarchs themselves.
Stupid retcon.
I always thought that as a powerful perpetual second only to the emperor she had the ability into the future. Maybe the Chaos gods gave her visions of the future out of context and this made her panic as she saw a future where her sons are killing each other. She thought it was cause of the Big E since she probably knew what happened to the thunder warriors and might even know that the Big E planned a civil war that would kill off half of the Primarchs. And that's my personal theory on why she did what she did based on Majorkill's videos that I have watched.
*Me when this popped up in my notifications*
"Oh look, an 8 minute video about a tube!"

I dislike this addition because every time you ask, “where was this person in the larger narrative” the answer is always “because the emperor is an asshole and he alienated them.
Like seriously, we see plenty of the asshole emperor, but if he was always a douche, he wouldn’t have drawn such love and adoration from most of the people around him. More of the emperor being rad please.
Yeah, what if - and spit balling here - Erda alienated THEM? As to why she'd arranged the scattering of the Primarchs? Not because she was 'concerned for their wellbeing' - but because she doubled the hell down on the ambition of conquering the galaxy? To the point where even Big E and Malcidor were raising eyebrows and telling her to chill out.
Perhaps Erda plotted to warp them away to her own pre-determined destination to create her 20 personal demigods to conquer the galaxy for her own ego. But she seriously miscalculated with the warp portal due to her own arrogance, believing she could match or trump the Chaos Gods in their own realm.
Big E and Mal are SUPER outraged at her and banish her. The only reason she's allowed to live is because her unique genetic material may be needed again in case the first batch of Primarchs are destroyed/irrecoverable.
Erda then exiles herself. Completely unrepentant having performed a huge some of mental gymnastics to conclude the entire affair is the Emperor's fault for not making the Primachs fast enough, in spite of her assistance and insistence. Even going so far as to conceitedly claim the Emperor wasn't powerful enough to kill her. (He very much could and would if she wasn't of further value.)
Honestly, I'd prefer an arrogant witch of a woman that made Big E seem utterly civil over one suddenly overcome by 'motherly concern'... and the Big E literally did not have the time to undo or mend all the varying neuroses that afflicted the now grown Primarchs, between the web way project and trying to combat chaos.

Both sides(oldschool and modern fans) should have respect for each other. I don't understand why we need to bash each other.
@@giorgiofenu5563
for a while, sure, but ultimately most people would realize that the Sororitas fill a niché in the setting, as the weaponized arm of the ecchlesiarchy.
In my (personal-) opinion, i rather like the idea of the emperor having been with many other human woman than the one immortal woman instead.
I say this cause the idea of the Primarchs have a normal human side to them sounds better, that and a sort of racial diversity angle could have been thrown in i guess and it would still make the emperor seem like an asshole for just going around and taking eggs from woman he didn't really care about. Hell i would even except one of them being a perpetual so it could explain vulkan. But all the primarchs having the same mam just doesn't rub me the right way i suppose.
As about the naming of the Astartes after the woman who helped create them i think its retarded for people to get mad over that. Like cop on fellas.
Also not related but fuck Cawl.
Why fo you wanna fuck cawl?
Oh I thought you were gonna say because it would be way cooler if the Emperor had a harem
@@barahng He is an emperor that should be given
Thanks for this one and all the other great content. I'm slowly working my way through all of it while I study. You're helping my sanity lol.
"Yes Inquisitor I found it, the end of this one is the heresy you've been looking for!"
I clicked off my hentai for this
Worth it
It's Majorkill, you basically just clicked on a different kind of Hentai to replace the first.
Can you provide any of the canon sources for Erda and Astarte? The Lorgar/Word bearer heresy books basically countered the lore you said for how the primarchs were scattered.
THANK YOU! hahaha shoehorning Vulken in at the last second was a damn classy move. Also good vid. Keep doing you.
"expect for vulcan hes a good guy"
*proceeds to show a picture of him bunring something a life*
HEY golden hawk boy is a good guy he just gets angry sometimes .
"The primarch weren't made to fix climate change"
*angry Fulgrim noises*
My boy Major... so glad to be apart of you coming up from 10k to now 100k and listening to us with your homebrew animation. Keep it up and oh yea.. fuck OMS!
glad to see you've taken the feedbacks in consideration for homebrew adventure.
2:34 Pretty sure this here is an official artwork of her when she met John Grammaticus: wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/c/c0/ErdaArt.jpg
Primarchs are mom is muslim?
Holy sh*t that was a smooth AF transition from the intro to the video, the fade away dissolving effect. Damn that's nice
Loved the interactions between John and Erda. S tier writing.
Dude love the cartoon, you don't have to make it perfect. (that's part of the charm.) I loved every bit of it, please keep them coming.
*I think they invented Erda to be the Eve to the Emperor's Adam. The concept of a mother of Primarchs is interesting, but the execution was poor.*
It would have been so good if the Emperor and Erda had a natural born son and then decided to create the primarchs as a faster way to make sons, also a way to modify them.
Appreciated this vid! n Ye, heard you mention Primarch mother several times in your videos and started to get curious about her lore. Thanks m8!
Thx mate n the fan vid was epic
I like Erda. It never made sense to me how Chaos could gain access to the laboratory and then chose to just slingshot the infant primarchs across the galaxy instead of ending them.
Yep
Love the video, I agree that the addition of the primarch's mother was a good idea as it shows the emperors consistently shitty people skills, and it also just makes more sense than the emperors sperm being so potent that it fertilises itself in some massive orgy
Duuuuude loved the animation and great job.
I refuse the retcon, I know what I like and I like what I know!
*Haha first get recked scrubs*
But nice video, little bit of more obscure lore. Mind covering the Akashic record next? Maybe some of the more weird theories around the omniscia.
*_This is GW's biggest narrative misstep since they greenlit the Primaris._*
_While fleshing out the lore can be fun, if done wrong, it can deflate the sense of mythology and mystery that 40k has. Seriously, a test tube filled with _*_E-jizz_*_ and _*_warp goop_*_ would be preferable to an immortal soccer mom._
The show is great seriously cant wait for the next episode
Youre doing well Major. I respect the first attempt and believe in your cheek clapping potential 🤘
Wait what about the Star child
it's 1/2th edition lore, much was changed, but, there's an chance.
Ynnead was an obscure figure in the first editions and became an major power in 8th edition
Remember: it's okay when a woman does it.
always has been
Lmao
how come this is the first time I ever heard of Eredar, not even from other yotubers mentioned it. Thx majorkill
Vulkan is living with her and giving his mama hugs
she's probably looking at the world right now thinking maybe the emperor had the right idea.
Wow, that's an actually interesting lore point, grat vid as always. :)
Actually, a Primarch mummy really fits into the whole story very well.
Not this shitheel
Can’t wait for the next episode :).
Best intro ever. An hard thruth.
A very solid and refreshingly "unbiased" description of a super interesting and controversial character.
Erda is super interesting, super interesting to think on why she considered the course of action she took remotely intelligent or moral.
I prefer to conventionally overlook her existance.
She's just crazy. That happens with powerful psykers.
I'll do the same
"Me mom was a tube! A tube on mount everest!" - kitten
Animation is something I'm not to worried about just the weighting besides that its awesome keep it up
Do you recon you could get some research for alpha legion as I’m a lazy chungus and I like to see your opinion
I got into a conversation with a random person on CZcams about whether Erda’s introduction was a retcon. I didn’t think it was, since it seems to make sense that the emperor would need female DNA to create life, and that it doesn’t really change anything. I was then identified as an overweight SJW who lives in my parent’s basement. So there you go...
damn bro, that's rough
I doubt that he needed female DNA all that much but have no problem with her existence, just don’t like Big-Es intelligence being downplayed.
The Primarchs having a Gene mother is cool, and I can get with her scattering the Primarchs. But I really hate all the Perpetuals showing up. A whole cast of characters who can survive being dropped into a star removes the tension from whatever they're involved in. An individual who goes on living forever, no matter what, and never has to contemplate their fate on the other side of the mortal coil, is totally unrelatable. That would make them more alien than the Eldar or Old Ones, because THOSE aliens, while they don't age, have mostly been murdered. Mortality is what separates the organic individuals of Warhammer from the asshole daemons and 'gods.' The warp deamons are all just bratty, spoiled manchildren, who have no sense of responsibility because their infinite respawns let them act without much consequence. Plus their extreme age stops them from viewing mortals with anything but contempt.
40K has always been defined by people trying to overcome death, or the fear of it. The Eldar achieved Utopia, but screwed it all up and unnecessarily drove themselves to extinction. The Necrons tried for immortality, but became trapped in metallic prisons that are driving them insane (and that's AFTER they escaped slavery). Artificial Intelligences all turn insane or evil. The Emperor became an godlike immortal, but at the cost of being a detatched egomaniac who can't empathize with their fellow humans. Him being on the Golden Throne is meant to be supremely ironic in how at that point, he becomes closest to a god, yet is trapped in misery and pain. Some of his creations like the Custodes and Primarchs are essentially immortal, but their genetics have been so altered, they can scantly be called human anymore. Some are more like organic automatons. But again, at least THOSE GUYS can still fall in battle and be stopped by death. But I get the pain of having to deal with the sexist tools.
@@Ake-TL that started with Primaris and Cawl.
@Hans Becker I assumed it was for genetic purposes to make them more human or something. Maybe he needed female DNA? I dunno if there's a rhyme there's a reason though
We need the black Templar’s just screaming with chain swords in a future episode
I honest saw the Emperor as cross between a well-intentioned Melkor, and Victor Frankenstein, he thought he had everything figured out and make mankind bend the Warp to their wills, but like Melkor, trying to do that adds more disharmony and misery. It’s like how The Dark Side of the Force works, you can command the force to bend to your will instead of harmonizing with it, but the trade off is too terrible.
I wonder if his own unnatural birth kept him from seeing this, the whole shaman thing.
