@@Aracnah it would mean lowering the wards holding it shut. Besides guilliman, the emperor has spoken to noone since his internment. So you would need to coordinate with him to do that. It is also the fact that there are so many demons even the emperor is straining to keep it shut. Grey knights might beable to stop gap it for a short bit but not for long

Allying with the Eldar for better Interstellar travel, allying with the necrons for anti chaos weapons, and allying with the Tau for better technology. While this would absolutely never happen, it would still be a very interesting alternate future for the 40K universe. A sort of what if timeline where the Galaxy ends up uniting instead of constantly trying to kill each other.

Necrons are the existential enemy. You can still live in a universe ruled by the Dark Gods, but Necrons wanna outright exterminate you.

@@arefsalimi2106 Both sides could use an ally. Necrons are really powerful and effectively immortal but also they can't make Necron babies, so their numbers are limited. Which means that they could never control the whole galaxy because. Orcs and Tyrranids exist, and if tomb worlds get overwhelmed and destroyed goodbye resurrection. At the same time since Necrons do not have to eat there is little competition for resources between Necrons and the Empire.
It pretty much boils down to what are the Necron goals.
I had read that Necron goals might be the destruction of all Gods, which Empire could have a problem with since... well Emperor is a God.
However if Emperor get's resurrection or reincarnated, and we do know he was an atheist killing all (other) Gods seems like a great idea.

I always thought that all the enemies of the imperium would eventually kill the Emperor but the story would continue. Turning into a "we have to hold out for an indefinite amount of time" story until the Emperor really appears probably a couple thousand years later because GW would want to milk everything for each setting, kinda like the jump from old imperium to Blue boy being active. But I hope it doesn't happen until all the Primarchs return which would give humanity a good chance and give them a second chance.

One of the more interesting theories I saw was that the Galaxy would be destroyed. The Emperor's death coupled with all the worship of him impacting the warp would cause him to achieve apotheosis and become a god in the warp. He would likely have just as much heat behind his birth as Slanessh did if not more which would cause another rip in reality centered around Terra. Similar to what happened with Slaneesh and it would cause the Cicatrix Maledictum to spread and encompass the whole galaxy.
honestly, id love to see magnus reclaiming his noble shard and freeing himself from tzeentch with the help of the emporer, in the end taking the place on the golden throne and sacrificing himself so the emperor can live and fix the imperium

I fully believe that the Emperor could be resurrected, it’s just that no one wants to put in the work. My proposal is this: declare Terra a crusade goal, and gather together as many human warriors as you can; astartes, imperial guard regiments, sisters of silence, every last available soldier in the galaxy. Then, put them in front of the broken webway gate. Summon up several Titan legions to stand watch with the custodes at the eternity gate, and then cut Big E’s life support. If the gathered armies can withstand the ensuing shitstorm long enough, the Emperor can regenerate and live again. He can then take the throne again as his complete self, guide the astronomicon, and sort out the Imperium.
But then who'd defend the Imperuims borders' from outside threats if everyone is at Terram

That would make it possible for him to be believed by Orks as an embodiment of Waagh. Orks' belief seems to actually manifest if enough Orks believe in it, so if Vulcan gathers enough Ork-frends into this weird heretical Waagh he would straight up be unstoppable (as that would technically make him akin to a god and Big E's case shows that belief empowers gods. There are A LOT of Orks in the galaxy to spread the word of Green Jesus to) . The Green Boiz gang of Salamanders and Orks will hug the chaos out of Galaxy.

I recommand you to check out the 50k and 60k fanfictions, in which the death of the Emperor cause the Solar System to turn into a battlefield between chaos, the custodes and grey knights, and the ad mech corrupted by the Void Dragon
The theory at the end of this video caused my thoughts to go in an interesting direction.
At the risk of being EXTREMELY heretical...
What if humanity is actually putting itself back together finally. Alliances are forming and semi-stable, and heck, technology is progressing again.
If things keep going like this, humanity might be on track to creating a civilization similar to the good old days of the "dark age of technology."
But then the emperor returns...and it's actually the emperor RETURNING that imperils the galaxy and risks sending everything to shit again.
How though ? It was said the emperor is what guided mankind and furthered there tech. That just dosent make the most sense even though it is interesting I’ll give you that. :)

For the empire to improve from it's current state, it effectively needs to shed it's fanaticism, if it managed this to some level, the emperor actually reappearing could, if handled wrong, lead to a massive increase or resurgence of said fanaticism, which could certainly lead to many bad things happening, the people behind said improvements and shed fanaticism all being pointed to as heretics, slain, their works cast down and ruined. Doesn't even need to happen everywhere to be not a great time.
So last night I watched to some video stating that there was a Second Terra found by Horus during the Great Crusade, knowing that there is an Exterminatus class Device implanted on the Golden Throne made me think that if Terra gets destroyed, we got a back up.
Honestly, without the Astronomicon, the easiest solution seems to be the Imperium trades/steals by force/develops the Tau's Ether Drive/Close to Light Speed travel drive, and the Imperium while slowed down and without the risk losing ships in the warp, plays defense until the Emperor returns.

I think it would be possible for a powerful psyker, maybe even a Primarch, to take over the golden throne for a time like Malcador the Bro did and allow the Emperor to either heal or come back from the dead (basically the same thing) unburdened by the drain of the throne. It would probably horrifically drain or kill whoever took one for the team, but doing something like sacrificing a Primarch for the return of Emperor seems like a pretty great idea tbh
Yeah. Using a Primarch would totally work. But thing is, it would take a shit ton of Psyker sacrifices to give big E enough energy to regenerate instantly.
And even if Big E comes back, what? He is mentally unstable. The first thing he would probably do after resurrection, is to massacre half of mankind. In order to purify the stains left by the old order,

I love the theory crafting at the end. Personally, I would love to see the next loyalist primarch that returns create something of a rift in the imperium. Say if the lion were to return, and he chose to continue with the hard line anti-xeno way of things but papa Smurf wanted a more open minded option to combat chaos and the Tyranids. Maybe lead a faction of the imperium from ultramar that was more open to elder or necrons. I know it goes entirely against ultra grim dark setting and the crusades the emporer fought, but it would still be pretty freaking rad to see a combined force between Mankind, elder, necrons, and space commies could come up with. Then still hold on to OG puritan imperial factions for those that want to with the lion.
well if they are able to get even just one of those secondary beacons to Terra then the emperor wouldn't need to spend as much energy on that part of the thrones functions thus allowing him to focus on the portal and or use a small bit of energy to start healing... or maybe even have enough energy to fully close the web-way if at all possible...

I've thought about and pondered on why man kind has stagnated. After all they had a thriving empire before the emperor took charge, could it be that the rigid codex's and laws of the empire and they're willing to crush anything deemed heretical is stagnating mankind? Not only that but most of mankind's most dangerous threats are of its own making, i.e. traitor legions.
They're is also the matrix theory where an op protagonist will spawn an op antagonist. So perhaps the op emperor building an overwhelmingly strong empire forced the enemies to raise they're game, the power of neo meant a counter balance came to being. Think about the Roman empire, it became a target across most of its frontiers because of the land it held because of its power and prosperity.
So an empire without the emperor may cease to exist as it is now but it's enemies especially the traitor legions who's sole purpose is the overthrow of the emperor will then turn on other things.
Perhaps then mankind would have the respite and ideological freedom to advance and thrive in the long run. Like major said they'll also be forced to actually ally with friendly xenos and become a better structure.
To quote Iroh from Last Airbender: "It is important to draw wisdom from many differnet places. If we only take it from one place, it becomes rigid and stale." The empire as it is rn sees anything xenos related as heresy, although there are factions within the imperium using xenos tech its still kind of under the table. If they were more open minded they could adapt a lot of things, not only tech but also tactics and economics. And the key to victory is understanding your enemy, until now the empire mostly brute forced their way to "victory". Thats at least my take on it.

I think if the Emperor died, it would cause the Imperium to fracture and crumble but it will force humanity adapt to survive. Inventing new technology and finally advancing for the first time in 10 000 years. The Imperium as it is now is not what the Emperor wanted and I think he wants to finally die. Maybe that would be the best thing for humanity. To start over.
