I really, _really_ hope that this Clonegrim lives long and prosperously. Maybe even make a sort of small empire protected by his somewhat loyal New Men and Emperor's Children new and old. Why do I really want this? Because it would mean that Rylanor can finally have a primarch he can be proud of again. That and the Loyalist Emperor's Children are frickin' lit.

Rylanor had a peaceful end when he inspired the three Thousand Sons under Vistario, to allow the bomb explosion to be free. He in the end had his victory for his defiance scarred Fulgrim's soul forever.

I had a similar feeling when I first read about Ferrus' exit. Having read somewhere that all primarchs could possibly be artificially perpetual, I hoped to see him return, reform and expand the Iron Hands.

I think it would be neat if if Clonegrim continued to be a champion of mutants and outcasts, leading an army of misfits to fight the enemies of mankind. That would make him the opposite of the perfectionist fulgrim and his legion pre-Heresy
Or truly the embdoiment of the struggle to be better, moving toward perfection. He would be the leader of a ragtag bunch of misfits constantly pushing them to be better than what they are, allowing them to outshine their flaws. It would prove him better than the corrupted Fulgrim ever was: Someone who demands greatness but brings out the best in everyone including the lowest of the low.

Sounds interesting. I could even see him still possessing a lesser drive for perfection than he did before, tempered and routed by a philosophical belief of "Perfection lies within Imperfection." I could even see him help teach many of these outcasts how to use their abnormalities to greater function and help them achieve their goals, creating a Sub-Imperium based around loyalty and respect instead of admiration and fear.

Its interesting to think of the symbolism. Fulgrim is known as the Phoenician or the phoenix. Maybe clone Fulgrim is the bird fighting the snake the deamon Fulgrim is.

With the Loyal Primarchs seemingly coming back I can see Clonegrim somehow escaping Trayzin's collection and getting control over Fabius's New Men again as their Primarch.

The first time the Emperor summoned the Legion of the Damned Ferrus was leading them...maybe his soul is being protected by daddy?
Yep. Also when Malcador and the Emperor play predictive chess before the Siege of Terra, Malcador (playing as Horus) uses "The Perfection" to knock the head off the Ferrus Manus playing piece. The Emperor picks it up the broken pieces and says "I will have to fix that, if I can find the time." Also with Saturnine, we have confirmation the Primarchs are artificial Perpetuals, so in theory they could all be brought back, maybe even un daemon princed.

I imagine Corax would beat the living hell out of him while Fulgrim tries to explain he's loyalist now and no longer corrupted by Chaos. All the while Ferrus's ghost head would egg him on.
I would love to see more Primarchs active, especially the Lion and Clone Fulgrim. I think the Lion would be awesome, mostly because I think GW could swing it so that the Lion, unhappy with Guilliman but maybe unwilling to have a full on civil war with him, takes control of Imperium Nihilus and we have a sort of Western and Eastern Roman empire vibe in 40k. I honestly kind of think that's the direction GW will go honestly since they do so love their roman empire references and latin, err Imperial High Gothic. Also, bring back DORN
@Pedro Kantor damn that would be awesome. Even if they don't go with a redemptive arc for the fallen, and instead make it your average bad guy invasion of the Rock and in the fight the Lion wakes up, it would still be pretty sweet. GW has all the pieces to make an amazing story. Just hope they can pull it off.

There seems more a need for a primarch for each threat now, rather than dividing up the imperium. Tyranids, Silent King, Chaos, Imperial Politics, Golden Throne literally falling apart...

Fulgrims fall is and always will be why I have such a deep hatred of Slaanesh.
His last thoughts after he killed his brother Ferrus always make me sad.
I actually have a theory that clone Fulgrim could be the one to kill Lucius. The idea is that Clonegrim would be Lucius as the embodiment of that happened to the Emperor’s Children under Chos and see him as show lowly he takes no pride in killing.
Lucious was ressurected by Slaanesh herself after a similar scenario.

If i remember correctly, another reason why Fabius betrayed Clonegrim was because he realised that to Clonegrim , his "new men" were nothing but tools that he would use to fight for humanity, whereas Fabius saw the new men as a replacement for the current humanity in 40K. But then again, as MajorKill said, the book is from his perspective, so that viewpoint is probably really biased.
Also, considering that belisarius cawl wants to revive all legions, including the traitors, there could be something interesting there if he finds out about Clonegrim

Fulgrim being like Griffith kinda makes sense, had a bromance with a black haired guy, turned into a demon, and has two sides, in Griffith's case its Femto and the Moonlight Boy, and in Fulgrim's case Daemon Fulgrim and Clone Fulgrim.
It would be interesting if clone-Fulgrim does escape and form a new faction of the imperium. Maybe other loyalist primarchs that reject G-man will join him putting even more preasure on humanity.
You can have G-man an a couple of loyalist primarchs... Say the Khan and Rogal on one side supporting G-man and in the side of the imperium the warp is messing Fulgrim creates another imperium with Corvus and Leman.
Since humanity will be even more outnumbered it will force both sides to make alliances with alien races. G-man with his girl Yvrainne and maybe a crazy necron who wants to reclaim part of his collection while Fulgrim is stuck with the Tau because he got Corvus.
What does Corvus have to do with the Tau btw?

Savona wasn't a female Space Marine, rather a Slaaneshi cultist who found favour with Flavius Alkenex and his inner circle after killing an Emperor's Children Marine and taking his armour, which she later mutated into better fitting - she actually tagged along with Fabius after the events of "Clonelord" (since she had nowhere else better to go) and fought the Drukari alongside him in the climax of "Manflayer."
And Igori was the matriarch of Fabius' personal army of Gland Hounds, (separate from the Homo Novus) created to specifically hunt Space Marines, but she and the rest of her children fought to the death for her father figure to ensure the safety of the New Men.
Unfortunately, very few survived on Fabius' side of the battle against the Drukari, but there's still plenty for the Fabius clones that are out there to do all kinds of terrible experiments in the name of science.
Honestly that would be a way to get around Space Marines being all male. Clonegrim leading his New Men, even if they have power armor they aren't Astartes.

Current headcanon/theory:
Fabius used the custodes genetic information he “acquired” because the clone fulgrim was unstable. Knowing he was going to need more he works with the alpha legion, playing the bad guy all too well while secretly using the information from the custodes and sisters of silence to give him the tools to bring back fulgrim

Fabius is no good, he is a selfless bastard that want to up the Emperor in genetic creation and manipulation. That is his sole schtick and he will use anything to achieve it. This is the guy that makes Dark Eldar blush, he is a follower of Slaneesh, and even though he is not mutated he is corrupted to the core.

This is my prediction . Roboute and Daemongrim get into an epic fight . Daemongrim gets the upper hand and Clonegrim comes out of nowhere to save Roboute. The two primarchs banish Daemongrim back to the warp , but Clonegrim takes a mortal wound in the process... likely across the throat because gw loves to hammer the idea of poetic irony home . Roboute gets a brother back briefly to remind him of how alone he is . Yvraine watches it all from the shadows and waits to res Clonegrim as her new lover with no ties to the imperium.

Fabius Bile trilogy, start with primogenitor, then clonelord and then finish with manflayer. Absolutely amazing trilogy
@@ArmouredWarrior That trilogy was fun to read and review. Honestly the chaos marine books are some of the best written stories ever. Next to the Astra Militarum books of course
tbh this would actually make the exact kind of plot twist that the story needs- in one of those deus ex machina moments have clonegrim emerge and prevent a total arse pounding for the imperium to turn into a partial pounding instead.
There are a few things you have to remember.
First of all this took place BEFORE Rise of the Primarch. At the start of that event Trayzin's archives were rocked with a massive impossible bell (long story) and a number of his displays were broken.
Second, the original Fulgirm's sprit was trapped in a painting by a demon (another long story) but he eventually escaped. So he, and thus his clone, should be able to escape Trayzin
Third, the whole point of why Fabius was looking for Trayzin was a lost gene tithe from the Third legion to Terra. Thousands of gene seed, and not just a few Legionaries, in Trayzin's archives

@@larrytherustyboii7442 The Original? Yes, but remember that one was pretty much driven insane by grief and guilt after killing Ferrus and then left to fester with that guilt.
He came out of that painting very, very warped. In more ways than one.
I'd argue that classic Fulgrim is very much like Heath Ledger's Joker, clinically insane, convinced everyone else can fall as far as he has and determined to prove it. That's why he corrupted his legion, why he was going to change & corrupt Rylanor and why he's so unpredictable.
What might be interesting is that if there are any surviving Chemosian descendants, maybe Fulgrim Clone could rally them to remake Chemos on another world.
I really hope there will be some novel about people who somehow manage to steal Clonegrim from Trazyn's collection, i imagine Clonegrim would be pretty mad at Bile.

And I think the Imperium wouldn't allow the usage of that name though. Clone Fulgrim may need to change his name to maybe Mirgluf. Hopefully GW sees this and gets an idea of having a clone primarch as Primaris commanders.

The Traitor Primarchs with hair can be redeemed
The only way I can see both Guilliman accepting Clone Fulgrim and either of them defeating Daemon Prince Fulgrim, would be for the former two to join forces against the latter.
They heal their wounds, avenge Ferrus and prove their loyalties by banishing the Snake Rapist, then The Lion shows up and bitch slaps them both.
Or he brings him to papa E, Guilliman would listen to Big E no matter what. Even if he hates Fulgrim and wants him gone he would still follow what the emperor says, lets be honest it was Big E who brought Fulgrim back in the first place.

I just watched the Rylanor song from StringStorm, which is amazing, and it made me think of clone Fulgrim. Ancient Rylanor dealt a serious blow to Fulgrim's pride which, to my knowledge, is the only way to permanently damage such a being. For me I dream of Clone Fulgrim figuring out how to escape from Trazyn with his loyal sons and confronting Chaos Fulgrim. Clone Fulgrim would be defeated in combat but would utterly roast Chaos Fulgrim and shame him for being a perverted narcissist bitch so bad it would devastate the demon princess's pride into losing most of it's power as well as control over the other Emperor's Children. I also dream that Clone Fulgrim has a warp spaghetti power to cleanse chaos from the Emperor's Children. It would have to have a high mortality rate, like only the least corrupted, or only those that maintained some control of their soul would actually survive, and the rest could hopefully die with some measure of honor for denying chaos. This way Clone Fulgrim could gain a small following of Emperor's Children, perhaps say a chapter size force. He would just do loyal stuff, even though he knows that no one in the Imperium will accept him. I can dream.

This is gnarly, hopefully something semi similar happens with Magnus, maybe he gets his loyal shard back, and becomes a neutral party, unable to rejoin the imperium, but not on the side of Chaos. Kinda like the Alpha legion, so traitor traitor marines.

If loyalist fulgrim does come back to the setting I like to think the BIG E would get involved and try to get loyalist fulgrim back into fold by sending some custodians, grey knights and some mechanicus who are like Cawl and try make a deal or steal him from Transtyn and then the Emperor has him go searching for his loyalist brother with the ones the Emperor sent to get him

Late post, but if I remember right that first image is called...something along the lines of "A little act of will".
In addition to being a fantastic piece it's the artist implying Fulgrim could just *turn off* the daemonic transformation if ever he could be motivated to do it. Which, while non-canon, falls right in line with Majorkill's own wishes about what *could* have been canon for Original Fulgrim.
Gives me an idea for a story, naybe where a group of rogue Fabius' "New Men" lead a new chapter of the loyalist Emperor's Children, called "Penitent Sons" (because another commenter said it and the idea is just too good to ignore, wish I could remember who to ask permission), breaking into Trazyn's palace to retrieve their lord. All the while Clonegrim has a psychic dream where he speaks with the Star Child, who is trying to peacefully and completely prevent Clonegrim from going Traitor again by taking him on a vision quest through his little corner of the Warp. Top it off with Fulgrim busting out and cutting down Julius in a defensive rage without a hint of pride, and embracing the Penitents' chapter master: the female space marine who took a bolter for him.
Don't forget Corax chasing Lorgar in the Warp.
Imagine the reintroduction of Fulgrim is the clone making a big ass jailbreak along with other cool stuff in the gallery
Random theory I just thought of:
If the reason fabius bile was able to make the perfect fulgrim clone was because of fulgrum's "primarch soul" being separated from the original at his ascension. Then in theory, fabius could make chaos primarchs normal again and we could in theory see a full power angron were his brain wasn't torn apart from the butcher's nails
the clone is amazing he seems wiser and in pain and just wants to tear chaos a new asshole
Be pretty cool if he could call renegade chapters to his banner. Be the farsight equivalent to the tau
I hope he does return to the imperium at some point. With guilliman rejecting him at first but later accepting him after the clone Fulgrums proves his loyalty and desire to make things right to the imperium and his family. Then guilliman welcomes him back as a sign of their brotherhood being restored and as a major step in Fulgrums path of redemption.
Imagine if the Blood Ravens raided Trazyn's collection for artifacts and clues about their origins. If anyone could upend that hoarder, it would be those kleptos
I WANT A LOYALIST FULGRIM SO MUCH. I mean Jesus Christ, imagine how cool it would be for Fulgrim to return, learn of the terrible things his original self has done and go on a penitence crusade to redeem himself. Dispite what is commonly believed, Fulgrim was already one of the best Primarchs pre-heresy. He was a man of the people, raised on a post apocalyptic hellhole and through sheer hard work and determination he raised that planet into a shining beacon of civilization and culture. Just imagine what he could do for the Imperium! His drive for perfection wasn't a result of his nature and upbringing, all he wanted was for he and others to be the very best they could be. Fulgrim was an absolute bro, and he deserves better than to be the pleasure slave of Slaanesh.

And that's what's great about 40k, it's a tabletop RPG! Just pick a time and date (in lore) and write a fanfic or DM a game where clone Fulgrim escapes and kills chaos Fulgrim or something.
I hope they make a loyalist Emperors Children chapter with the Flugrim clone because their Loyalist armour was cool as shit and made not want to burn my eyes
The idea of Clone!Fulgrim retraining most/all of the originals memories to a point but not suffering any of the corruption leads to a bunch of interesting What ifs..... Like would a clone of Konrad start off as crazed and broken as he was at his death or would a clone of Angron be a better person without the Butcher's Nails?
In Horus Heresy Book 20 The Primarchs, Fulgrim has a story arch in it the explains that Fabus digs about in Fulgrims body during the middle ground of normal primarch and demon slug

It would be so cool if clone Fulgrim somehow escapes Trazyn's clutches(alongside Creed, of course), frees Clone Ferrus, and then the two of then proceed to fight Daemon Fulgrim in an epic showdown approaching Rylanor-levels of badassery
You say daemongrim dying wouldn't be a massive power shift but it would be. Not between chaos and the imperium but between slaanesh and the other chaos gods. Fulgrim dying could end up putting Slaanesh on the back end of their eternal struggle. It sure would be absolutely hilarious for Cegorach to fling that sisters bell back out of the webway into Trazyn's museum and free Fulgrim.

as ferrus and fulgrim were palls, i can 100% imagine a tragic scenario that fulgrim only took the slanesh sword because he was like "hehehe, man, this thing is shapped like a penis? for real? i gotta show this to ferrus he is gonna laugh his ass off"
If I could have only one wish granted for the Warhammer 40K story moving forward, it would be for Good Fulgrim unleashed upon the galaxy.
