Off the tow hitch The 420ci diesel was rated at 23,000lbs. 29k with a 5th. wheel.
Thanks for watching. The bumper hitch on this truck is rated at 10k.
Grandpa's pretty proud right now.
Thanks Linda
Good video. Been enjoying the journey of this truck. We just finished our 82 Bullnose. We’ve used LMC, National parts depot, bronco graveyard, and of course Amazon and eBay for our parts both interior and exterior. We’re here in Utah as well, up north in West Point.
Thanks for watching
Using the silver sockets with the big impact… I like it.
Thanks for watching.
Video starts at 9:30
Thanks for watching.
plumbing touch. Quench w/ pb blaster. Grinder w/ cut off wheel is your backup. But you got it. That impact will be handy for wheels and suspension work.
Nice old pickup
Thanks for watching.
Grandpa may not have like the old Ford truck but he sure hung on to it for 30 years.
He liked it. Thanks for watching.
I'm actually looking at a 84 f250 regcab long box 4x4 with a manual. Want it as a tow rig and eventually turbo it. Any big issues i should look for?
@@quintonstarman9832 I am no mechanic for sure. I would not be the person to ask. I know they do not put out a lot of horse power or torque. I do not know how they do with running hot when you put a turbo into the system. Thanks for watching and let me know how it all goes.
Good old ford!
Thanks for fixing it
You got the right impact, just get a Milwaukee high output battery 3 amp hour or the 6 amp hour....that little battery cannot run that impact.... also make sure you are on setting 3 on the impact....you'll love that impact!
Thanks for the info. I love my Milwaukee’s. I will look into the bigger battery as you can tell kind of a newbie.
Please get a bigger battery! I have that exact same impact as a large ag mechanic and with a 6.0 high output battery those bolts would have sheared off before the impact would have gave up. It’s happened to me accidentally before.
Why do some have the camera on them while towing? I was waiting to see the front while towing including dash clusters.
Thanks for watching
5k is the max weight for that bumper...you really need a receiver hitch to be towing with that truck. You also need a trailer brake controller. Those old trucks regardless of what manufacturer did not have the greatest brakes to begin with, add almost 40 years to that truck, and a trailer and its not a good combination.
Those old trucks can tow, but they're slow, and the brakes aren't great.
For sure those brakes are not great. It does have a brake controller. I will look into the bumper weight rating a little more. Luckily we only had to go 5 miles of backroads through the fields. Thanks for watching.
@@JauntJunkies Bumper is rated at 5,000 pounds, so 500 pounds of tongue weight.
Thanks for the info. Just makes me laugh thinking of how my grandpa towed so much on that bumper. It was just such a different world than today. The old school of just hook on and go. Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed watching and communicating.
You should have taped the chains to the bumper or tied them with paracord or zip ties. Would have been the same with alot less stress.
? Thanks for watching.
Why didn't you use a nut buster or a torch to cut the nuts off?
I did not have either. I am not a mechanic as I am sure you can tell. Thanks for watching.
Where is this located?
Utah. Thanks for watching.
My buddy and his dad are farmers and they have 5-10 of everything. At least you're not hoarding brother
Thanks for watching. I don’t know the older I get the more I seem to not be willing to get rid of. 🤦🏼♂️
@@JauntJunkies I'm 28 and having to force myself to get our from under all my baggage. Just to feel resolute and free. It's hard man.
Impact driver should take those bolts off
That is what I thought but they were not letting go. I think the eyelets in the long run were the better route. Thanks for watching.
Needs a 5 amp hour batter would’ve zipped it right off with a little more battery
Needed a bigger battery.
@@user-oy2jm6hz1p you are right. Thanks for watching.
Y o y did you not just took the sawzaw to the bolts lot less work
Yeah I just didn’t have replacement bolts at that moment that is why I was trying to remove them. Thanks for watching.
460ci can tow 16,000lbs 5th wheel
My other grandpa had an 84 with the 460. It would pass anything on the road with his camper and boat loaded on. Except a gas station. Thanks for watching.
Also diesel engines are rated higher towing cap. A lot more torque.
A grinder
@@noelramirez2438 ?
Use a.breaker bar. Quit the games
Thanks for watching.
