Gotta love the old idi diesels, I do alot of videos about them.
Dude I’ve watched a bunch of your videos! What a trip. Thanks for stopping by and watching 👍
@HarrisT Any questions just ask, look forward to seeing what you do with the truck. Good buy.
Im a retired diesel mechanic . If you need any help ask me. If your located near bamberg sc i have a few of these trucks just parts to keep mine going.keep up the good work.
Sounds good! Thanks man!
Automatic thumbs up for the intro music!!!
Good job, my starter just quit in my 85 idi truck so I’m getting ready to order it. Thanks also for the trick to start the truck doing the jumper in the selenoid. Did not know that!!!👏👍👋
Glad it was helpful! Getting ready to record part 4 today 👍
Brakes went out on my old 90 f250, turns out it was the rubber grommet holding the vacuum tube into the brake booster. It was cracked bad from dry rot and lost all vacuum. Its was scary, but i got to stop. Changed the grommet and what ya know. My brakes were back! Great video, keep us posted!
That is a great tip. I’m definitely going to check that out next time I have a chance to work on it. Thanks man 🤙
One hell of a good deal. Great truck. Keep us updated on your build. Probably just fix the breaks and your good to go.
I’m excited to see how it turns out… hopefully no major issues in the future! Thanks for watching man!
What gear ratio do you have
I have an 87 and Love it ! THANK YOU for your videos !
Never Stop Making Videos 😊😊😊😊😊
appreciate you getting the camera in position to film starter replacement!
Stay tuned! Got another video in the works
Great video congratulations
Impressive!!
I am having the exact same issue on my IDI.
I have never seen anyone grease the face of where the starter mounts to.
I’ve replaced a few starters and never done it before either. In my mind I was hoping that it was tacky enough to keep the starter in place while I got the bolts started. Not really a lubrication thing
Great engine sound 😂
Yes it has a clutch switch. So you will have to push the clutch pedal in.
My 84 6.9idi I don't use the clutch to turn my truck on I believe the trucks with the t19 didn't come with clutch switch or maybe got bypass. Plus he turn the truck on without pressing the clutch when he jumped the starter
I know the 5 speed zf5 has a clutch switch
I guess the group 31 post batteries worked. That’s all we ever bought for road tractors and they are cheaper or less expensive. Thanks for the info, I’ll measure first but good call.
They fit great! Only in the bullnose apparently though. Stay tuned 👍
How long did it sit and did you drain out the fuel tanks? I just bought a 97 f250 7.3 that sat for 2 years and debating draining fuel out of tanks. Started up just fine after a new starter.
Haven't drained the tanks yet but it seems to run fine on the old fuel. This truck definitely needs new fuel tanks though -- these are apparently rusty on the inside according to the previous owner
Looks like the 800 pound gorilla was in charge of the torque wrench.
How did you find a $500 f250
A little luck 😂 stay tuned
Every place I look at it trucks are $10k $20k $40k
Would you sell it
Maybe once it’s fixed up! I still have some plans for it though…
You could have saved alot by buying used batteries
I spend so much on batteries for all my stuff. Haven’t found a good used source yet
@@HarrisTautozone and oreillys are my go to. Used battery’s behind the counter. Just gotta ask
