6.9l Diesel Fuel System Maintenance
Part 7 of getting this old thing running right again! If you're not familiar with this series, I bought this truck (1986 Ford f250 6.9 liter diesel) for $500 and have been fixing it up and keeping track of the costs. Today we're doing some long needed maintenance on the fuel system for the truck, including the fuel water separator, fuel filter, and some fuel additive. Zip ties and bias plies would not be proud. Stay tuned for the next video!

Where at ?
Looks great. I bought enough for 2 vents. I was going to try a push/pull system. One on one side of the container pushing air in and the other on the other side pushing air out. What do you think?
Sounds like a good idea to me! You’ll only need a Regular 2 position switch if you’re doing that, I think.
Not fresh gas, fresh fuel!
Sounds like the clutch and brake pedal pivot on the same shaft and must be dry of lubricant and hanging up against each other to a degree!
I lubed the the linkage up pretty well. Another comment mentioned bad bushings, which I think may be the culprit. Only one way to find out! Thanks for watching, stay tuned! 👍
Hi, they are not 2 stroke, they are 4 stroke. I've built and maintained generator sets for over 40 years, and I've never come across a lister 2 stroke diesel and yours is definitely not.
always enjoy your video's, keep them coming
Thanks for watching the saga unfold!
@@HarrisT enjoy your video's very much, and especially when there id a diesel involved, keep the content coming please
I found the vid. it was buried. Mine is a 2020. My design is the same. Thanks for the tip on the torx wrench kit. I'm putting in a Antigravity battery. Should be fun. Thanks again!
Blast from the past! Thanks for watching and glad it was some help👍 stay tuned
It'a 4 stroke you bozo
Ford used to sell a bushing kit for the brake and clutch pedal assembly. Kind of a pita to change but doable might even be some old videos out there on how to change them. Also you may have to end up welding a plate to the fire wall if you have a rust issue with the assembly mount. Last the clutch slave cylinder has a plastic clip which attaches the pedal to the shaft check too for wear. Good luck.
Thank you for the suggestions! Stay tuned 👍
Everything costs so much more today😢
Nice truck
Thank you!
Did you change the oil?
Yep. Made another video about that. Check it out 👍
It has air conditioning🙂
Nothing looks like it's in good shape you keep that truck and put some money into it you'll have something dependable
Get a new o-ring
Just remember brake porch cleaner will eat certain types of plastic up use carburetor cleaner
I wish I had it
Spray everything down with some PB Blaster maybe take a look at that throw out bearing when need be
If the frame is in good shape but it's a good buy 500 bucks for that truck
I don't know how good those tires are but you want to get the diesel off the tire as quick as possible
Does the engine have an EGR cooler built-in?
The brake shoes, housing and the backing plate their certain spots you’re supposed to have silicone gel lube, or no one has break lube that will help your brake shoes to fully retract and function smoothly
Very useful
Glad this helped! Stay tuned 👍
How did you find a $500 f250
A little luck 😂 stay tuned
Every place I look at it trucks are $10k $20k $40k
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was sent your video thanks. I have never understood why people put the solar panels on top of a building when they can put them on the side. That's what I'm going to do I'm going to put it on the side.
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned 👍

That fire truck is WAY cool. F-250 is cool too but fire truck is king
Thanks alec!
keep up the good work, love watching diesel videos
Thanks! Got another in the works for ya 👍
Love the series! Cant wait for the next one! Good work!!
Thanks! Got one in the works for ya 👍
great job
Have one at a family ranch it's an awesome generator it still starts easy at 115 degrees or zero turn it over three times and flip the compression release
I got a banks turbo sitting on the shelf
Remember wd40 is a cleaner not a lubricant
Many folks do not now that.
What rust??? I see no rust. Hello from NJ. All of our trucks are long gone due to rust.
😂 you may be right… but it’s still got water leaking into the cab from the hood cowling. Check out my most recent video - stay tuned!
I have almost the exact same thing, however mine is 7.5kw 240VAC 1500RPM. The worst thing about it is noisy! OMG! 😣
Yes, super noisy! A couple people have recommended building and exhaust vault for it to quiet it down. I might try to do that in the future.
Can’t wait to see the truck running around the mountains!
Love your Vids ! Thanks !!!
Thanks! Stay tuned 🤙
I am so jealous, as a heavy equipment operator I can appreciate quality. 👍
Thanks for watching - stay tuned!
Es un osito.
Have you noticed any difference in the humidity/temps?
I don’t have a temp or humidity gauge in there but what I can tell you is there has been no condensation through multiple snow/thaw cycles and the the fan is still cookin. It’s definitely working 👍
I would have tried climbing a tree and putting the aerial up with low loss coax. I would also put some HF wire aerials up.
Stay tuned… that’ll be another video 🤙
Great video congratulations
Very cool. Super nice find.
I want one of these things... Maybe 2 or 3......
Greetings!!! How long can this Lister generator run continuously in terms of hours or days.?
I believe the guy I bought it from said 36-48 hours continuous load while powering his house. I don’t know how big the tank is though. Maybe 20 or 25 gallons. I actually might have talked about this in my last video about the Lister but I’m not sure - check it out. Thanks for tuning in 👍
@@HarrisT thank you so much for the feedback. I love those vintage Lister GenSets, why I had a suspicion that it could run longer than that. Great content.
it appears that you had that vent built in at some point? I too just bought a shipping container and am currently researching venting solutions. I like your setup. good work.
Yeah I had the vents built in when I ordered the container. I mentioned it somewhere in the video. You’ll need some basic metal fab skills to do it yourself. At the most basic level you could cut a hole and put some 1/8th inch screen over it. Though the fan would most certainly run more efficiently mounted on a flat surface, rather than the ribs. Thanks for tuning in 👍
Anti tank rifle.
