Today I am sewing the Krystal Convertible bag on both my industrial Juki DU -181n and Juki 2000qi. It has been made successfully from start to finish on a domestic machine by my wonderful tester team. (Of course, the materials you choose, and the domestic machine used, also plays a role in how easy it is to do.) I've rated this pattern as intermediate because it does require the use of rivets (or chicago screws would work) to install the D ring connectors at the end and this may be a supply/tool that newer bag makers do not have on hand or is a technique they are unfamiliar with.
*The exterior fabric is Wildwood- Garden party in navy quilt cotton from Riflepaper Co
*The chartreuse accents are cowhide leather from Tandy leather.
*The interior is all waterproof canvas from Fabric wholesale direct (If you spend $35, you get $10 off and I get reward points using my referral link here: www.fabricwholesaledirect.com...)
*I am using "Fairy floss sewing string" which is a tex 80 (for my industrial machine and tex 45 for my domestic machine) from Geekyhardware.com
*The peach striped zipper tape and star pulls are from ZipperValley.com
*The 1/8" and 1/4" DST leather tape is from wawak.com
*The super sharp scissors are Kai 9" also from wawak.com
*My "keep it thready" sewing tshirt is from Indolovekreation.com
*Giardini leather edge paint is from thebuckleguy.com
*Leather paint roller applicator, wool dauber, Ecoweld waterbased adhesive, and Small/medium/large rivets are all from Tandy leather
*Double sided vinyl as an option for the d ring connectors from mojosew.com

I love that your patterns usually include most if not all pattern pieces even if they are just rectangles. This really helps me out. When I cut by measurements, I often cut the rectangles incorrectly, usually off by an inch. Just wanted you to know it is appreciated.
I made this bag about 7 months ago and it has sat on my sewing machine table unfinished. I needed to build up the confidence to do the strap anchors and today I had that confidence and "I did it". This is a fabulous pattern. Thank you
Oh man, I’m glad you finished it! That would have been a sad day to leave it unfinished 🥺
I purchased my pattern last week. I finished the bag last night! Thank you for the video! It make it so much easier! :-) Love this pattern! I will have to make it again!
Thank you so much!
Bought my pattern today, my rivet kit comes tomorrow. I'll be sporting my new magic convertible bag by the end of the week. 😀
Yessssss!!
Tape is a game changer...thank you!

Thank you!

Yay! So happy to hear that!
Thank you so much
Is it possible to make the whole bag out of quilt cotton ? And if so how ?
Would you use a woven with fleece if using cotton canvas? Using a juki 2010
No I just use the woven interfacing when doing cotton canvas
Im in the middle of making this and I’m using vinyl for the outside front and back. I’m wondering if I should do the front sideways zipper opening on the leftside the same as you did for the quilt cotton? Can someone let me know. TIA!
Depending on the thickness of the vinyl, I typically just cut a ½” window and leave the edges raw for my vinyl and leather versions since they don’t fray. No *need* fold them to the back technically.
This is an amazing pattern. The video tutorial is amazing. My only complaint, the pattern pieces did not match the height and width of the measurements on the front. I did check the one inch boxes on each piece but when cutting out from the actual pattern piece, it was smaller than listed measurements. It caused my bag to be smaller than it should have been. I did not realize this error until I was making the interior slip pocket and it said to measure down 5 inches. There was no way to do that.
I’m sorry to hear that. It does sound like it was a printing issue though. We’ve since changed our practice to use a 2” box on our most recent patterns because it’s really difficult to tell the 1” box is off if for example your printer forced printed at 96%. Over the course of a large pattern piece such as this one, it ends up being quite a bit off but it’s very hard to tell with only 1”😞
Is there an update or version 2 for this pattern? I did notice the SVG files has a 2nd version but not the downloaded one.
Any updates we’ve done have been to add files like SVGs or projector and AO files. None of the written portion has been changed in any way.
I had to buy this pattern. It literally has my name on it!! And it is spelled like mine! Plus the bag is exactly what I was looking.
Question: where do you it buy your fabric? Specifically the rainbow watercolor fabric used in the instructions for the pattern? It’s stunning!!
I got that as a custom order from cottonandtwirls.com
Can you make this in vynil or is it just for fabric only?.. thank you
Absolutely! I’ve made all leather ones before.
Has anybody tried doing the side zipper the normal way rather cutting and taping edges back.
Yes! And it turned out fine 😄
I did the vertical zipper my way. Looks great 🤗
Does this pattern include the SVG files
Yes it does
I got the pattern I hope I can make it @ lind Handmade desegins
You got this! 💪🏻
Me pasaría alguien las medidas del cuerpo y base
I provide the measurements and/or printable pattern pieces within the pattern. All my patterns can be purchased at Lindshandmade.com.
Arghhhhhh!!! I just made the bag and closed it up and realized I forgot to sew the straps to the base. And I cut off the bulk seam allowance so I can’t even rip it out and go back. I’m sick!
Oh man, I’m so sorry. Take a breather. Walk away for a day and come back later and seam rip and add it. It’s fixable!
