    Another awesome video! Really digging the 3 shots in one. Went back and watched them a few times. It’s always great to see what the machine is actually doing at different points.
    Appreciate those AC pulse settings too. I’m going to give those a shot. I haven’t dug into AC pulse. 🔥👍🏼🔥

    It is hilarious to me that you did this video. I bought a bunch of coupons from weldingmetalsonline just a few weeks ago because I was tired of spending time trying to remember approximate settings I've used for various metals, weld types, thickness, etc. I've been finding good settings and writing them down to have for future use, especially when I go long periods without welding. When I'm done I'm going to compare them to yours for fun. Thanks for posting.

    So ... watched carefully ... what did I learn ... (a) I need better equipment (HTP 221) so I can theoretically weld aluminum ... (b) I need a small dog. I have contacted the American Kennel Club to determine the least vicious small dog on registry. This will enable me to fully embrace Your aluminum welding techniques while addressing my mishaps and mistakes, therefore recognizing the need for kicking the crap out of a dog that has little to no ability to retaliate against my aged frame. I believe this is a winning strategy ... dog lovers may not embrace my logistical approach.

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před rokem

      Im runnin about 14cfh but my gauge is showi g around 20-25cfh. I use a peashooter on my cup to give me an actual consistent cfh. Just turn it up slowly until its not dirty anymore

    At around 4:14 . Do you pull (like smear) the puddle after you touch it with the filler rod?? It looks like you're touching it, and then pull it forward. Or am I just imagining? Can you explain your movement there?

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 4 lety +1

      Nope it's just the camera angle. My filler is coming up towards the camera so it looks a little off. I just push a tiny bit of filler in at a time

  • @rafatrill
    @rafatrill Před 4 lety

    In my opinion if ur learning to weld dont use pulse or anyone settings every machine is different a general rule for every 1in use 1000 amps: 1/2=500 amps, 1/4=250, 1/8= 125, ect ect. I learn this in welding school and it's a great rule of thumb works everytime. If ur just learning might turn it down more than the rule of thumb just because ur going to be slow starting off.

    • @chrisbroadsword
      @chrisbroadsword Před 4 lety +1

      That kind of falls off a little after 1/8". You definitely dont need 500 amps to weld 1/2" unless your running like a sub arc with 1/8" wire or something.

    • @rafatrill
      @rafatrill Před 4 lety

      @@chrisbroadsword I weld 1/8 at 125 amps all the time this recommendation is a setting ur foot pedal is ur actual amperage used. Also these recommendations are mostly for full penetration welds. This is just the way I was thought and a recommendation. It works for me. I'm in welding school getting my batchelor

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 4 lety

      I agree don't us pulse until your already a computer welder. And the 1 amp per thousandth of thickness works great but I stop using it after 175 amps. It would still work but I'd much rather add a couple passes then use a ton of amps. Me personally though

    • @rafatrill
      @rafatrill Před 4 lety

      @@5thStreetFab depends what ur goal is, full penetration sometimes requires that. If ur filling in something flush and dont want heat sink yeah multiple passes is a requirement at lower amperage. Sometimes pre-heat and post heat is required also. I like the recommendation amperage settings it works for me everyone is different but I also know when to adjust and figure things out.
