People who keep saying if this is a bad laptop then what about mine. I have a pentium 2 pc that can barely run age of empires 1, to you I say - i never said I have the worst laptop in the world. There will always be PPL with worse machines than mine. But first, do you get the sentiment I'm trying to get across.
And second, I am not a hobbyist. I am trying to do this blender thing professionally. And for that you need some crazy power. And when you're taking this thing seriously, you'll know this laptop is definitely on the lower end.
That's all.
And if you still disagree, I'd love to know your experience with blender and if you're comfortable sharing your portfolio with me. Just so I can grasp where you're coming from.
my pc has 8ram, RTX 3060 and i7 20 cores yet it struggling to render 8 second clip. Is it good? I use ASUS TUF
Love the content who would you recommend to watch to get started in blender

@@vusumzikondlo6869 8GB?? Lol you need more RAM … but either way the complexity of your scene matters
So many experts told me not to buy this laptop but I don't have much money but thanks for making it. This video cause I am relieved at least I can learn 3d animation and renders like this. 😅
For the longest time I thought that my computer was the limiting factor, but now I have a really nice laptop and my projects haven't changed much. A lot of them I just abandon when it gets too complicated and I work very slowly, I was the limiting factor all along! Videos like your's give me the motivation to keep fighting with this drop in motivation when stuff gets comolex, so thank you. I recently finished my first animation, it's fine but I'm mostly proud because I managed to finish it. I proved to myself that I can finish projects and keep pushing when the complexity becomes overwhelming!
Oh yeahh man. Feel ya on that. Good pc or not, this is a recurring problem in our space. Glad to hear the video could be of a lil help. Glad to hear you finished a recent project too. That's always a confidence booster, no?
@@stache_obj yeah, finishing that project and the positive responses people had seeing it gave me such a kick in confidence and motivation. This feeling quickly wears off for me tho, so vids like that help me remember why I'm excited about blender in the first place!
@timm9956 oh hell yeah man. Totally relate. Happy this could be a teeny tiny source of inspiration
@timm9956 that's awesome, is your vid available to see anywhere, i love exploring folks works.😊
@@sandy_the_hippy Yes, my replies don't seem to go through tho, probably because I'm trying to link to social media but I'll find a way
the fact that everything i saw was not real life and made in blender is insane. keep up the awesome work! youre so talented!
Thanks man. Means a lot
@@stache_objplease make tutorial on how to install and how to setting it to run on potato laptop. I'm using potato laptop too. Can installed it, but can't run it, it's showing the object in the artboard like a glitch. Can't do anything even to rotate the cube object.
i was watching the intro and was like "how did blender have anything to do with this? its video editor is pretty bad" omg
You're seriously extremely motivational for artists with lack of drive due to laziness when it comes to hardware, this film is superb man easily one of my favorite Blender channels at the moment
Thanks man! That means a lot
I am incredibly impressed with all the animations. And the fact that it was all made in Blender, and not shot on an actual camera is absolutely crazy!
Glad you liked them man
This resonates so much. I had a potato computer and would use that as an excuse. And then even when I upgraded, I would find reasons to not follow through on some projects. So this is a good reminder that being an artist requires adaptability, resilience, and an enjoyment for problem solving. Appreciate the video! The short film turned out so great!
Exactly man. That was the sole purpose of this video. Thanks for your kind words.
The conditioner scene was beautifully done. Truly a work of art my man. Beautiful
Thank you very much good sir
I am impressed by your ability to accomplish tasks efficiently even with a less advanced laptop. Meanwhile, I have the best setup available but still waste time playing games and other unproductive activities. Thank you for motivating me to buckle down and focus on my work again.
It's okay to play games too. I feel like you know that already but still.
I guess the aim is to find the perfect balance.
“Other unproductive activities” AKA ..porn
@artemus80j.4 that just takes 5 minutes man what are you talking about 😎
@@stache_obj hahaha true words of wisdom
@@stache_objkeepin it real 😂
3D art is really intimidating for me as a painter, especially when I couldn't even finish making the donut. But this makes me want to pick it up again. Absolutely love your wonderful energy and determination--so inspiring! Keep up the great work! :D
That's so wonderful to hear
All the best bro, i feel ya
Really love the story you've woven into the art. That's my favourite part of art, and you've done it really beautifully.
Appreciate you saying that man. Isn't it nice when PPL compliment the art but more importantly the story 🫂
@@daniel4412he explain it in the video, try to check it out its rlly good
Honestly! I could not think it was a 3D animation until you started showing how you created these scences. Sir these scenses are the most realistic scenes I've ever seen. No overshine, no ultraclear texture, those tiny imperfections I am awestruck and speechless! These are better than DC and Marvel animations. I really wish some big production house see your skills and hire you with a very good offer. Instantly Subscribed!
Thanks man. Means the world to me this. Appreciate your kind words
@@stache_objcan you do character actions & dialogue ?
nope. maybe someday@@ShortsByBrian
The film is just stunning! So inspiring seeing your process 👏✨
Bro, the shots look so good and I'm not even talking about photorealism, just the cinematography, the sound design and pacing. Props man.
Glad you liked it my man! Appreciate it
Using low samples or viewport/shaded mode to test out scenes, lightning & timing is one of the best tips mentioned in this. Even after upgrading my pc I still use this approach to test/optimize before upping the samples.
AHHHHHHH THIS IS SO GOOOOOD !!!!! THE BLOOM THE SOUND EFFECTS!!!! Great job man keep it up
The caps lock makes this comment worth it
Well done on your short film, mate! And thanks for the inspiring words to not just make excuses and give up on projects. Keep working and sharing your work.
love the vibes dude, amazing subsurface scattering use too
Your short film looks INCREDIBLE. You're awesome for showing us how you did it for free, and in such a well-edited video 🙌✨
The good taste is strong in here! Nice cinematography. You motivate me to make something right away from the beginning. Thanks man
Hell yeah. That was the motive
Amazing stuff man! Inspired me to think of ideas I didnt know was as possible as you've shown in this video! Keep doing your thing
Every take looks beautiful!
OOO thanks Jose. Appreciate you saying that. Took a lot of effort. And all for comments like these
this is absolutely amazing !! you are talented bro keep going ♥
I used to have that feeling about being limetated by my PC hardware and stopped a project for that, but then one day I found out how to complete it, and since that day I always try to keep going till I find a way out. Congratulations on your first short film; I hope there is more to come.
Oh yeah man. Exactly. All it took was one project to break all my illusions
Exactly my favourite film look, the film grain, the colors, such a vibe🔥
Beautifully done Sir 👏Looking forward to your new projects
Woah, the camera effects are epic
Thanks man!
I had a potato pc where i created some awesome stylised renders. Now i have a better one but hasnt created a complete one for a while. Hardware is just a catalyst, rest is your will. Gonna start renders again.
And man your renders are wonderful especial the legs in water were lifelike!
Beautiful contrasting shots to realise your concept - Love it - as always a superb film and kind tutorial sharing your knowledge.
Glad you liked it
Great concept on the short film! Love the contrast. Awesome work!
Thanks man. Appreciate it a lot
My man has been cooking🧑🍳
😂 says the chef himself
The whole short was great, but that last shot with the leaves blowing in the wind and the plane passing through the sky oddly feel the most like summer to me, it's so simple yet somehow quite nostalgic, great job!
Yikes I thought you were gonna roast that shot the way that sentence began. Never say- whole thing was nice but...
😂
Hahha Yeah, sorry that wasn’t my intention. It’s truly outstanding, definitely inspired me with a few of the shots. Theres nothing to roast honestly haha
Amazing show of what optimisation means in 3D. One off my friends who is a blender artist teach me blender with lower spec laptop than yours years ago, that was just mind blowing and fun to learn about hierarchy, naming and optimisation, he was often telling me you need to know the result you want first(goal) and you can start figure out which way you can reach it….BTW Thanks for sharing ❤ very good content!
This is beautiful. Well done man.
This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. Thank you. Seriously, it felt like you were speaking directly to me about the issues I'm having.
Ooo man. I really thought I was the only one relying on these excuses. Feels good to see so many PPL relate!
You don't know how much I love and enjoy watching your content!! You're truly an inspiration. The short film looks truly amazing and I love that you're actually letting us view behind the scenes. Thank you so much for that!! 💞
Glad you liked it man. Always great to hear such encouraging words. 🫂
The film is amazing but also your work and storytelling on this entire video is top-notch! Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it my friend
i've been struggling with self motivation and blame-my-potato-computer a lot and this video really encourage and helps me to counter my doubts and start working on my project again, thank you so much dude
You got this! Lezzz goo
I really like those moments that you managed to build to your short film. Good to hear how it was made. Inspiring stuff!
Glad you enjoyed the story elements. That's what my core aim is usually with such projects
Speaking of what you said around the 13:00 mark, i actually stopped doing 3D for around 5 years because of weak hardware.
Sometimes taking time off is good to find your passion again, i came back stronger than ever!
Hell yeah man. A break can be sometimes game changing
Same I also took a 6 years break from Maya and came back to use Blender... now I'm ejoying it
Searching for 'short film blender' I found your video. And you got me interested from the first moment. Great message, well spoken and fully agree. Also love your work, it looks superb. Instant subscribe. It was indeed inspirational. Especially the part that even big budget films still struggle with the same limitations, only scaled up. That was an eye opener. Keep up the great work!
That's wonderful to hear. Glad to have u here in the 3d community. Now godspeed to you
Been watching your vids for a while but this one I didn’t fully watch before. This came just in time to motivate me to do my own short film so thx mate! Keep doin what ur doin!
Happy to hear that my guy
To optimize the scene without losing much quality where you need you can also use render layers. They're a bit hard to learn but when you do it they're so powerful
True. Luckily this project didn't need any. But it's a great trick to have up your sleeve for sure
Thank you Stache! what an amazing video, inspiring, and pleasing to watch! Keep up the hard work. With that laptop you already achievd and outstanding result and i can't wait to see what you will came up in the future. Really well done!
Thanks for saying that man. Huge confidence booster
Love this short! Just beautiful and ingenious.
Means a lot man
This definitely resonates with me so much, and I came across this video right on time. Thank you for sharing your process and your work- your short film looked amazing! 👏🏾👑
Glad it was helpful!
I just started learning how to use Blender on my own this April after graduating from film school last year and failing to find any work. I have been confused about what I'm doing and who I am as an artist but watching this video and your short film instantly gave me such a rush of inspiration to go back to my roots where my films were always simplistic shots that were full of emotion and that my 3D renders can be the same, I've decided to do a few experiments and make a few videos that tells stories in 3-4 shots and see how it goes. Thank you for appearing on my feed and for sharing such beautiful work.
I understand dude. All I can guide you to is some youtubers who might be of help. Andrew price, cgcookie, crossmind studios, cgboost
A computer with a GTX-1650 is not what I'd call a potato computer.
Read pinned comment
🤝
exactly, the potato computer is way more underpowered. A potato laptop (not even a pc) is way worse. It would have the fan all time high, the laptop would be too hot, even editing a youtube comment can be lagging. He can't have potato laptop in his tittle. He is clickbaiting in a sense.
Although, in a 3d animation perspective which wants 4k rendering, the machine will be underpowered. But my father is a professor and he does all his mathematics and analysing flow, physics in a dell inspiron 5510 with a good i7 and 8gb ram. That is not a potato laptop. The laptop I use, i3 7th gen with 2 gb ram, that is a potato laptop.
4GB dedicated video memory is not a general potato laptop. It may be potato laptop for the blender purist. But the title is not that specific.
Wonderful conceptual work of art. And made through animation! This is truly the future of the industry. Animation is cinema. Incredible work.
The works are amazing!! The realism is epic!!
This video was a truth bomb for meXD .Also, Really wanna know how you animated those curtains. They look very real!
Thanks man
If you want in depth tutorials, it's all gonna be on the patreon.
If it's something very specific ping me on instagram and I'll help you out
how do u compose the halation? I have a way to do it but yours look awesome in these shots!
AMAZING shortfilm btw, love your work
Dehancer for Davinci Resolve is currently the best option out the for recreating that classic film camera look, with really good colour grading, grain and halation :)
Exactly.
Wonderful work and attitude. Very inspiring!!
Amazing film and great insight into the thought process! I will def support on Patreon as you have inspired me to get into blender!
Appreciate it 🙏🏻
Honestly i like these types of videos more than technical breakdowns. I guess i call them "artistry breakdowns"? But this is the valuable content that youre giving that many content creators dont. They usually just focus on how to do the technical things. But we artists struggle with being humans, and thats not talked about enough. Thank you for making this video. You've inspired me to start again.
I love them too man. The artist inside you wants this more than a technical breakdown
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and honesty, really great concept, composition. I am following your growth and growing myself along side you, motivation is key. Amazing what Blender can do if the artist focuses and follows through. Again thank you.
Hell yeah man. This tool is frgn crazzzyy. Blender has come so far that a crazy intermediate artist like me with a potato laptop can make something like this alone.
Just What I needed, Thanks a lot for making this video!!
the thing that impressed me the most actually was the realistic film look you managed to achieve, could you do walkthrough of your compositing? mostly on the colors and red halation would be cool
I used dehancer
the laptop isnt potato
Yes it is if u know about 3d
What laptop is it?
@@harshsrivastava2588I still disagree that a laptop with a gtx 1650, 16gb of memory and Ryzen 5 processor is a shit laptop, I have run more demanding applications such as unreal engine 5 with lesser hardware.
Unless the person is using some wild level of detail / scene sizes and running out of detail you can get the creative work done, a shitty laptop/potato pc would be one that was much worse (e.g using integrated graphics or having 8gb of memory)
I should probably clarify that I know that rendering the complex scenes can be more demanding than just UE5, but you can do the design and creative work using a budget computer before using a rendering service if you need the super high detail.
The main thing that I hate is the idea that you can't do something great because you have a low spec computer when you can, you just need to be more creative with how you approach things.
@@ND6K holy shit.
We agree there.
It is potato Davinci,After effects and belender demands alot
Your video was randomly suggested to me, and it was something I needed to hear. So many times I open blender, delete the cube make a plane and then close it. I think coming up with a plan before hand and working through the challenges is part of the process that I need to sit in longer. Thank you!
Happy i could help in whatever lil way
Best video i saw on the internet today, thanks so much for the inspiration.
bro doesn't know what a potato laptop is 💀a potato laptop is one with 2 GB ram and no dedicated GPU and a core 2 duo you had a good laptop my guy

all the shots were amazing brother . i love how you added the extra punch to those shots with color grading and film emulation .. looking at the results you are getting from your 1650 i feel like im under using my rtx 3050 laptop. Amazing video
No. Don't feel that. You're not under using it. It's just a matter of experience man. I've been making things like this for a long time so I have an unfair advantage
it's really amazing how you overcome all hardware limitations, good job man

Appreciate the support my friend
that's craaaazy! i thoughts these were shots of real life! kudos for you this is really impressive
Wonderful video, beautiful work and such a positive message:) great job !
Glad you thought so my man.
what really stood out to me about your short was that it wasn't because of one factor that brought it to life, it was everything, it was the scene composition, story telling, sound design, video editing, post processing, etc that made everything feel real and apart of our world, sure not every model was the most photorealistic as it could be, but even if it was that still wouldn't have brought your short to life, it was everything coming together and the balance between that. I think that is something that i need to learn how to do since i usually get so caught up in trying to make everything so perfect and so photo-realistic that at the end the day im never satisfied because the other important factors like composition and story telling were negelected.
Great Video!
Thanks for saying that man. A lot of effort went into the whole thing so I appreciate you saying that
THIS IS INSANE T____T KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! you're soooo cool
This is really inpiring, and tbh I feel sometimes like this but is kinda good that we are not alone. I believe a lot of artist went through this kinda of problems. It helped me a lot to listen those wise words while checking at your stunning work. Thank you!
Such a beautiful and well-constructed video!

bro this is genious, my pc is in the same range! Good luck with your CG career!
this is pure innovation. for me innovation is making the complexity much smaller and easier by shortcutting to the goal. shortcutting is not cheating or being cheap, it's deciding the absolute necessity. less means more.
Exactly
so inspireng both the short and the breakdown, thanks for sharing! very very interesting! loved to hear your thoughs about the limitations and other things that normally people don´t sa but we all think, it makes me fell less alone
Hell yeah man. Glad PPL relate to it. Coz I felt like I was alone feeling these things
@@stache_obj not really, in fact, when I first saw your short film I though I won´t be able to do something like this, something so great, I know I shouldn´t limit myself like that but you know I can´t hepl myself
I am just beginning my journey in Blender and 3D art in general and I'm already starting to make excuses for myself to not put forward the effort and energy I started with just because it gets frustrating, confusing, and takes a LOT of time. Thank you for this reminder that often our biggest obstacle in life is our own silly human mind. Truly inspiring.
I know man. You're exactly right. It's usually us limiting ourselves.
