Cool! I think if you made crane 1 very very tiny (smallest possible contraption that could be considered a crane) and wooden and light, you could do it with unbreakable off! :) Because then, even crane 2 could be significantly smaller and lighter than your current crane 1.

Try changing the sizes with exponential growth or in powers of 2. The first crane, being 1, would need a crane the size of 2, so double the size, weight, thickness etc. The following cranes would have to be to the power of 2 of the most previous crane. Crane 1- 1. Crane 2- 1^2=2 (don’t get 2 this way Ik but just make it double the first). Crane 3- 2^2=4. Crane 4- 4^2=16. I believe this is the main reason it was so difficult to go from the 2nd crane to the 3rd, and really struggled from the 3rd crane to the 4th. Because they needed to be far bigger with more counterweight to compensate for the previous cranes. The counterweight on the 4th crane should be 16x the weight (size) as the first crane. I would like to see you try this again using this method

not sure it helps, but if you look how they put their cables along the arm of a giant crane, each cable starts from the tower and is linked to the arm every segment but separately, forming triangles shapes and the very bad force is only at the tip, on the last cable when your cables are parallel to the arm, forming rectangles and sharing the same force all along... you can also use your diamond shaped anchoring with each cable starting from the base of the anchoring to the tip of the next so the flexibility of your "muscles" are annealed at each base... if you think to it, the giant crane design reduces the angle at the base of the arm when yours curves the whole arm all along which gives a worse result at the tip as the angle at the base means a big moves at the tip...

I the original video there was little sneaky cables stopping the cranes swinging away from each other

12:33 That was your biggest clue for the solution to this design with a suspended counterweight, both the crane arm and the counterweight arm were curving outwards (compression) but the cable from the top of each arm stayed true (tension). I'm sure you know where i'm going with this, but think of your design (when in motion) as if it was the letter "V" with the base fixed to a point and a tension cable across the top, now imagine a hydraulic press starts pushing down from the top... Now put a 2nd cable in like this [ V into ∀ ----> from the middle of each arm ] along with the same cable at the top, The area of compression and tension are now both split 2 and makes it 6 times harder to bend the 4 areas of arm between the cables (excluding the weight of gravitational force)

5:27 in orde to do it better put a half rope and connect it to the main boom

i think it would have been so much easier if you managed the weights and deleted since the smallest one so it barely can do what is suposed to do, because the next one will need more weight to carry the extra weight etc...

Now make a 5th crane that will lift these
