Sorry I was late to this one. Pentatonix has made an entire career of making Christmas songs their own. They simply do not do traditional arrangements of Christmas songs. Also, Matt did not join immediately after Avi left. They did several projects as a quartet between Avi's departure and Matt joining. This includes Dancing On My Own (an official "good-bye" to Avi), their version of Away In A Manger, and their 2017 Christmas TV special...so there are some videos out there of them with just four members. Also, Pentatonix does not refer to themselves as a "Christian" group, although they do record a LOT of Christmas songs and some gospel songs on occasion. Kevin and Matt are both devout Christians, and Kirstie used to attend Catholic school in her pre-high school days, but she has not really publicly discussed her religious beliefs other than holding the "Christian" card in Imagine. Scott & Mitch have also never talked about their beliefs in a public forum. Avi is actually Jewish, but sang Christmas songs simply because he appreciated the music. He took some flack for this from the Jewish community.
