Her voice is far beyond from this mortal realm.
Even her speaking voice is absolutely beautiful!
She's not human like the rest of us, amazing.
The Faroese language - only spoken by about 70.000 people in the entire world, and I´m one of them.
I'm so in love with Eivor it's ridiculous. Don't tell her though. She only has to stuff around with her foot pedals and I get goosebumps. Takk fyri is Thank You in Faroese I think.
just some final thoughts on this one. for a decade i had a queen on top of my music, and it was björk. i could listen forever to her without being bored AT ALL. but her last two records are (at the moment) a pain in the ass for me. i was really disappointed when they dropped. maybe i love them in five years, who knows.
and then i discovered eivor and she kicked her off the throne. i can relate to every single song she ever made and i love her often very minimalistic setups. it's just perfect in every single aspect. and no other artist can compeed with her. there are plenty of really good vocalists out there that fill me with joy, but she is the queen.
-first of all, i was really sad that i could not attend this live stream yesterday, i would have loved to chat with you all about it and translate for you what she is saying in between the songs.
-second, thank you daniel for doing this whole concert, you have no idea how much i appreciate this!
i write this comment while watching along.
-third thing i want to say is that this is a really fine group of music enthusiasts here on this channel and i really appreciate the comments and chats on many occassions here on the channel.
-this was an album release concert on the faroe islands.
-"remember me" brings me so close back to my twin sister, who passed away. no one was ever able to put my feelings into words, but when i heard this song, she was there again.
-after remember me she talked about this concert being an release concert, her records and announced the next song about love and interaction.
-now songs in faroese are following. i've posted the lyrics in faroese and english side by side.
-then she announced a song about not fitting into the society, the whole system and to break free from all this. you are broken is the title.
-the guy with the beard and curly hair is her husband, trondur. the guy with the super short hair is mika, they are making music together since they were teenagers. the drummer, högni, has also an own band, where he plays guitar and sings.
-when you talked about vibing with the language and language barriers, it's utmost important to sing ion native tongue, with only 50.000 people speaking this language.
-röttu skógvarnir is also about to find the right shoe to walk in and that it takes some time to find it. it has an excellent music video.
-salt is a song from a series of songs based on the folk tale of selkie women, seals that can come asore once a year after christmas, to shed their seal skin and dance as humans in the moonlight. salt describes the moment, when the seal woman feels the need to get back into the ocean after years of being kept away from it.

the rythm played on the cow bells is really cool.
-petty fyrir petty is a love song describing the feelings of being healed piece by piece and finding comfort in your lover.
-tides is again a song related to the folk tales of selkie women. there is a fantastic statue at the shore in mikladalur on the faroe islands. during storm she emerges from the raging seas, absolut awesome to see it during heavy weather.
this song is one of my favourites, the double bass is so good!
-silvitni is another love song
-bridges, absolut phenomenal song. i can listen to it a hundred times!
-and yes, her way of composing music shows her huge knowdlege about it, not only musically, but also vocally, she studied in iceland and that's why we also see her as íslandsdóttir.
now i'm excited to see your face in the last song.
-there it was, hahahaha! she just sang him into exstasy!
-she is not human, she can't be. she is not even exhausted or sweatty, how is this even possible??

@@alibennett78 thanks for your kind words! i miss her every day, you know, but life goes on and it has to go on. she is longer gone now than the time we had together. it was an accident, i was in coma for a couple of month and had to relearn some things, like speaking. but don't worry, i'm fine again, requesting eivor songs again and again, hahaha! ;)
Hey Soley! I always love your comments!!!! I also love to watch this and many other reaction videos of Eivor. It's always "yep there goes the jaw drop". Absolutely NOBODY compares to Eivor. She is off the scales and in her own realm and nobody even comes close. I like that she does exactly what she wants, not what some useless label exec wants; and she kills everything she does! I'm sure you have, but have you seen her 2020 live stream that she did while stuck in quarantine for 2 weeks on the Faroes waiting to go to Iceland to do a music video, sitting in the big window of a friends apartment with a beautiful view of the Faroes in the background. The stream shows her really cool personality and of course her flawless voice. She is always fun to watch!
@@samuelcox5297 hi! thanks, that's sweet! and i absolute agree, there is no one who can compare to her, she carries ages and centuries in her voice and she brings it out effortlessly. and that home of her friend has a truly magnificent view (not that i can complain about my own view, to be honest, haha. but this is a window to sit behind!
i hope that the eivor-journey on this channel is not yet over since there are so many different and good songs waiting to be discovered. i have made a list in the rumble-comments, but after this concert reaction i guess it needs an update.
discovering eivor was like discovering a new favourit book, it draws you in, chapter by chapter, open up a whole new world.

In Scandinavia plus Iceland, we used to have the suffix -datter/-dottir and -sen/-son. Nowadays only Iceland and The Faroe Islands (perhaps partly Norway?) still uses this suffix. I have had the pleasure at seeing/hearing Eivør 3 times, and I want more:)

(I have some High School level French and Japanese from over 30 years ago and one year of Maori at University.) I am often embarrassed by people who can understand multiple languages. These songs are worth understanding as much as possible!
@@michaelnolan6951 thanks! my faroese skills are growing lately, it's very different from icelandic! faroese is spoken by only 50.000 people, icelandic by 370.000 people, so i always hope to raise interest into this languages!
