Saw her in Budapest recently. This song hypnotized pretty much everyone in the venue. This recording and the live performance were both different but both much better than the studio version. It takes real talent to pull that off, plus I have never heard any intonation mistake of any kind from her. What a blazingly, brilliantly talented singer.

Eivor should represent planet earth to the other civilizations off-planet her voice and the kind of energy her music emits carry so many emotions and stories told by every word and note and she is a full embodiment of her music and her music fully reflects the message she is conveying.

I've probably listened a hundred times, revisited this version of Gullspunnin, and every time it causes me a psychedelic trip. It's just unbelievable. EIVOR is the property of human civilization descended from heaven. This wonderfully beautiful Faroese language, which I do not know at all, but the soul sings with Eivor.... Thank you, Princess of the Faroe Islands, for the beauty and pleasure that you create and give to your cosmic creativity! With great love and respect from Siberia
Eivor holds a record with me as for holding the most songs I never get tired of hearing. (even if I can't understand a thing she's singing.)
Exactly the same for me too. I discovered Eivor nearly a year ago, and can't stop listening to her. Once this awful pandemic is behind us and artists can perform to live audiences, I want to see her live. Absolutely stunning singer. Absolutely beautiful woman.
In this case Faeroese. I'm Icelandic, and while I can mostly read Faeroese, the spoken language is a challenge. I would translate Gullspunnin as "spun from gold" and the event í Luftini as "in the air".
Eivör's voice is out of this world and as a songwriter she is in a league of her own. Add to that smashing looks and a REALLY endearing personality (I've actually met her a couple of times in Iceland) and, well, we can only watch in awe and enjoy.
You should read the translations of her songs, they are so beautiful. Not as beautiful as understanding the lyrics in Faroese, but understanding the meaning of the songs is incredible.
I am from India I didn't understand the lyrics. Hear this song randomly I even don't know what language is this? but music is beautiful and the singer's voice..

I too recently discovered Eivor Palsdottir...about a year ago. I can’t think of any female vocalist that comes close to her vocal clarity. I was more than amazed when I heard her live performance of “Falling Free, and When I think of Angels”. I also love her live studio recording of “Bridges”. Eivor is certainly in a class by herself. Eivor isn’t that well known, but she’s getting discovered more each day. She has a lot of dignity & class and that’s what’s
so appealing about her...it’s not about her. She always credits and praises her fellow band mates for their talents and contributions. NO SELFISH EGO!

She sounds like a super recording, but it's live. Actually it's better than any recording. Her pitch is remarkable and that drum is a badass.

It's so interesting to hear how Faroese sometimes sounds a lot like older Swedish. For example "glitrandi aleina" (glittering alone) would be "glittrande alena" if it was written 200 years ago. In modern Swedish, basically no one says "alena", but instead "ensam". Faroese is such a beautiful and well-preserved laungage, and Eivør only makes it more beautiful.
"Ensam" is equilavent to Faroese "einsamallur/einsamøll/einsamalt" and it's also way more common in daily speech compared to "aleinaður/aleinað" 😊 the latter is probably a Danism tbh, because the dictionaries DK-FO, EN-FO, DE-FO don't recognize it🤔 only FO-FO has it.
Interesting! In Dutch we have both "alleen" and "eenzaam" but they have slightly different meanings: "alone" and "lonely" respectively.
This song is beutiful, amazing, so emotional, touching... pure divinity. Eivoirs voice is amazing, so clear... Her vocal skills are unbelievable. I can listen this song over and over by all day. I would like to see her live sometime. I will wait for it.

The main thing that I fear about listening to the "live" versions of songs, that unprocessed voice sounds a bit dull and shallow most of the times.

I love and listen many kind of music, every day since my childhood, have many cd's and gone to lot of concerts... these times, Eivør has erased all of them since i have discovered her. I can't get enough, became huge fan as a teenager 😄 . This song is one of my favorite, espacialy live (the last of her concert at the nordic house ) she is really magical on stage.
