      @SecretCommie You're completely right. Pop stars are created according to what will make them a marketable product with longevity. If it's pure technical talent you want don't go to the big labels (though, obviously, indie artists are just as prone to tweaking their signing style in order to make money). Britney could've never used the baby voice and stuck with the one she was using before, but would we still be talking about her now? Unlikely.

      @okayfloatstudios3097 Před 3 lety +32

      “She’s got the whole package” would mean she sings. The girl now a days does not sing at all and when she does sing it’s very flat. She’s can’t sing at all in recent years BUT as a Britney fan for some odd reason we’re okay with it. Her shows sell out because regardless of her lip syncing she does put on an entertaining show. If you’re familiar with her, her story and her discography people love it.. but those who don’t care for her or don’t like her music can easily diss miss her as a fraudulent pop star cause she doesn’t sing. They’re right but at the same time it’s like.. ITS BRITNEY SPEARS

      OkayFloat Records Britney sang live beautifully covering ‘Something to talk about’, that was in 2017 but her Vegas show was cancelled due to her father getting sick. I truely believe if Britney does come back, it’ll be a more stripped down version and more about the album and her creativity rather than just the performance, like what she did during her ‘In the zone’ era 😊👸🏼

    • @jinx-1
      @jinx-1 Před 3 lety +10

      Now back to the reality: Her “package’ is only dancing and looks. Her singing is the barest minimum a pop star could do. Singing live rarely doesn’t make up for the fact that she’s been lip syncing every single note of her entire discography for the past two 2 decades. Her “singing” is hardly credible. Whole package means being a good dancer and a good singer as well as being able to showcase your multi-talents within one performance like Beyonce, Gaga and Ariana Grande do. The very rare times adult Britney sang live, the vocals were basic at best and she was never able to dance when singing live so no she’s not the whole package. It was either singing or dancing for her. She wouldn’t have made it far as a singer so she deliberately chose dancing and gave up on the first decades ago. It worked out well for her though.

      I agree with the above comment. She did actually use her real tone A LOT more in Glory, but she’s really into dancing so it’s hard to just focus on that. She’s always loved dancing more than singing and it’s always shown. But i do wish the same. I want her to do a straight acoustic album or performance, just one time. • @gaerux
      @gaerux Před 3 lety +12

      Most of the vocals are just one take and fixed with programs like autotune or melodyne. You can easily hear these stuff if you use to di this kind of work. I miss the old Max Martin days with perfect vocals and kinda low vocal correction.

    • @chasegran1
      @chasegran1 Před 3 lety +23

      Mark & Russell I produce music myself, and while autotune and Melodyne definitely manipulate the notes heard, they can only do so much. They can’t fabricate a distinctive timbre, nor can they change the way an artist sang the line. Compare Glory to Femme Fatale - both had top notch production, with the best of the best engineers working on her voice. They were both probably autotuned/Melodyned to ALL hell, but the difference is striking. The vocals on Glory are sultry, emotional, mature, and full of personality. It’s the best Britney has sounded in YEARS. The vocals on Femme Fatale are certainly in-key and hitting all the right notes, but they aren’t particularly distinctive. Some of them sound so artificial that you can barely tell it’s Britney at all, almost like a robot could have been singing them. Glory is exceptional and it shows that the incredible talent showcased during her youth is still very much intact.

    • @Irbbali
      @Irbbali Před 3 lety

      @@gaerux I think it's much more common to have multiple takes and then do the comping to get "one perfect take". Max Martin was / is notorious for doing that but that's a very common technique these days in the field of popular music. Of course, that doesn't mean they don't use autotune

    Britney is such an interesting icon... for me personally, there’s such a distinction, between her earlier years, before she had a very public meltdown, and her modern day performances... even her interviews... her movement and dancing is probably the biggest change.. she used to move freely, and without hesitation, and in her later years, seemed so stiff and awkward on stage.. it also reflects on her voice... I’ve always found it so sad, and have always wanted to know what actually went down during those crisis years... and what shook her confidence... I still love you Britney :)

      I’m a huge fan and have old magazines and stuff that I collected. I always remember being so upset reading an interview post- crisis where she was ‘coming back’ and she said she will change her performance style and “hold back” more on stage, particularly with choreography. She said she felt she gave all of herself away in previous performances. My interpretation of that is that it’s a deliberate move on her part to not feel so vulnerable on stage.
      I always remember as the main thing I loved about her was her dancing (and the early pop tunes), so to hear her say she wasn’t going full out with choreography anymore really broke my heart :( I wrote my uni dissertation on her!!!

      I think a lot of has to do with the fact that Britney is in a conservatorship right now, where her father decides basically everything for her (including her own money), so she probably can't say and do what she wants and therefor is much more awkward and quiet in interviews, and I think they have Britney on some kind of medication as well because they think she is crazy/unfit to take care of herself because of everything that went down in 2007.

      You guys might find this hard to believe but all of these Britney performances were live, the it’s actually a compliment to Britney as she can emulate her album vocals so well live and she also moves and dances more than the average singer. Britney and her team decided to squeeze her natural deep vocals into a tiny, airy baby vocal which did its purpose, separating Britney from every other singer and it made her so unique. What Britney have been as popular and break all those album sales records if she used her natural, deeper voice? I don’t think so, he baby voice that people make fun of Britney for, is ironically what made her so famous 🤷🏻‍♂️😁👸🏼

  • @realvibefaye
    @realvibefaye Před 3 lety +6

    I get into debates with people about her voice because I honestly think even when she sings in that ‘baby voice’ she still has a lot of emotion and her own power. I wonder why a lot of other singers weren’t told to sing that way, e.g Christina used her natural range to sing very similar music to Britney in the 90s. Mandy Moore naturally had a youthful voice but Britney used to have more power as a kid so it’s all very interesting how Britney was the product of trial and error in the industry. I think she’s very charismatic and talented and she struggled to sing live with that kind of tone when she did. It could have been why she began using backing tracks. People forget that it really brings a person down when they’re judged for their stage presence and vocals, in particular female artists. I think a lot was expected of her.
    You don’t have to have large pipes to sing with your heart. Good review by the way! ☺️

When people say she straight "can't sing" they are just dismissing all of this. What a powerful voice Britney had when she was younger. Then, her record label and Managers focused on her having a higher and nasal tone, now known as the typical sound of Britney but unfortunately it's a very forced sound. In response to your question of, if she sang on the right keys for her voice.
    Britney Spears is sort of a product created by her label..
    She almost never sang on the right keys for her voice palette and need to strain to hit the most basic note on her own song.
    Her management felt that Britney natural alto voice does not appeal to the target audience, thus they switch the keys of her song pith higher and created that famous "Baby Voice".
    Tho this strategy did works for Britney songs and image,
    it kills Britney's voice in return.

Unique voices that never seem to have to defend themselves.
