- Here is the complete in depth how to video on how to rebuild your Yamaha midshaft housing. This one is for a Superjet, but will apply to many others. It's long, but its the real deal.
@3:09 It's called a seal puller.
Logged in for the first time in forever just to say thanks!!
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Good how too to get people started! I liked watching you figure it out when things weren't perfect or easy like everyone expects it to go.
Where do you buy those bushings you were pressing with? I always look around for something on hand in my limited press use, never thought to look to buy a kit.
That’s a Harbor Freight bearing tool kit. It’s about 30 bucks but we’ve done it before with a huge socket. It’s always nice to use the best tool like this, just makes it easy.
Hello, I wanted to ask you since I have a waveblaster 1 and a friend gave me a water pump complete with driveshaft but it is from a 2018 superjet. My question is if I can install it by removing one and putting in the other or do I have to change something, because I haven't disassembled it yet and I don't know how long the driveshasf or the pitch of the impeller is. I would appreciate the information. Regards and thank you
What are the symptoms when it goes bad? Great diy vid.
Just any symptom of a bad bearing. Noise, rough feeling, uneven movement.
Hi Kirk. Need your help about the shaft. I have a 2004 AR230. My engine mounts broke and the engine moved forward but I only noted when the bearings started to make noise.
I decided to change the complete bearing housing. I removed the engine so I could have better access to the mounts.
I did not expect to have so much trouble to remove the jet pump, the shafts are completely frozen. Even tied the engine lift to a tree to pull it out, hit hard and no result. It is 1, 1-1/2" out but does not move anymore.
Looking at your video I figured that I would be able the see where the 2 shafts join after unscrewing the bearing housing and sliding forward.
Doing that I can see a line but I am not sure this is where they join.
Is there anyway you could contact me so I can try figuring out if the only way would be cutting the shaft?
Thank!
I'm still trying to get the bearing housing off... or I should say the shaft. The bearing housing has come free but the gimbal shaft seems to be stuck to what I'm guessing is the drive shaft. Anyone have any advise for removing it?
Grate job .. thank you
Screw the mid-shaft to your workbench to secure it in place. Then use a seal puller
That’s a great idea. Never used one before or even knew about it. I’m going to get one and give it a try. Thanks for the tip!
@@jetskiaddict I had good luck with driving a drywall screw into it and pulling with a claw hammer.
What's the measurement the you're using for how far the shaft is sticking out of the bearing housing? Cool template tool.
It’s a jig my buddy Nick fabbed up for us. Works great.
Seems like your press needs to be leveled on the floor and tighten up the bolts. It is causing most of your misalignment while pressing.
Damn good suggestion, I’ll do that. Thanks for the tip.
How many tons does the press have to be?
I would think a 2 ton would work. Just make sure it's tall enough. Don't buy the little A frame one from Harbor Freight, it's not big enough for the shaft. Get a full sized one.
Can I send you mine so you can rebuild it for me ?
Send it to Jetmaniac, millions of satisfied customers. Send him a message on XH2O.
