This clip teach me better than my four years of college in journalism.
Lynny lalyla sad but same for my 3 years of filmmaking college
Hahaha that's true.
try and error is best teacher everthing :D
Schools are useless... Never learnt anything there. Apart from reading and the bases of maths. Filmschool, same stuff. True Stroy: When my colleagues and I entered filmschool our first homeworks were shooting simple conversations. Now guess what. They were much better at the beginning than when we finished school. At the end our Shortfilms sucked big time. Why? Simple... Creativity is strongest whit lack of knowledge.
Haha
I love tutorials for things that are seemingly obvious, and many of us already do instinctively, but when broken down provide us with a much greater sense of control and purpose of our editing workflows. Really helps me jump over that especially tricky bar that distinguishes the good from the great.
One of the biggest and important aspect of videos and film is sound. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a tutorial how you record your sound effects like birds flapping their wings, footsteps, sounds of water etc! Thanks and very informative
Jehrico Justo editing apps has all this sounds
find them on youtube and download them. Its super easy.
ssshh.. that is THE secret sauce!
Super collection of tips! Reminds me a lot of 'Watchtower of Turkey'.
OMG HII
Brandon, you have no idea how much you inspire me. Please, keep filming!!! Huge fan from Brazil!!!
Great tips, thanks for posting!
thanks Dave!
Brandon Li I'm a music videographer quick cuts is my life. Great video.
Brandon Li Question: to achieve the look when you slowly keyframe the shot to zoom in or out, how far can you push it when shooting only in 1080? (% wise in FCPX)
about 20% in a brief shot. The longer the shot, the more the audience will notice a lower quality image
Brandon Li ah ok. So that's where the 4K comes in handy.
Brandon keeps it simple and professional. No frills, only the relevant stuff. Great teacher!
Gold. Love how you always teach us about story telling rather than making stuff cool w transitions and edit. My fav story teller channel for sure!
Hey, your channel is really good! There is definitely a large audience for the your uniquely styled short-story videos, keep doing what you're doing and they'll find you!
Great and original video, once again! It's kinda interesting how you can get away with compression artifacts / lower resolution / etc. when digitally punching in, granted you follow this hectic editing style.
These are honeslty some of the best and simplest tips I've heard. So straight forward and easy to understand. Love it! Thanks
Dude, this was so helpful. Unlike so many of other people's "tips" videos on YT, you actually delivered on your video's title!
You are by far the most enjoyable to watch and learn from. Your explanations really make me want to THINK about what I am doing rather than making everything up while editing. Your explanations overlaid on actual footage and examples is so easily understood. I can't wait for more from you. You're probably so busy creating content that you don't read the comments but I felt compelled to send one anyway. Keep up the awesome work.
You are the most helpful person on CZcams to me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Another great must watch video from the great Brandon Li. Keep it up man!
I've been shooting /editing for 30 years now but still enjoy reminders and tips like these. Here's one I'd like to add:
6. Pay attention to and use good clean sound to use to help sell the motions in the shot and transitions.
Thanks for sharing your tips.
Dude you are upping the quality of Tipps etc from video to video!!

Some of the best information out. You should design a course that shows you planning - shooting - editing your videos. Your videos are breathtaking. Thank you.

Hola Brandon! thanks a lot for your tips! I am an aspiring travel vlogger and have almost no experience shooting or editing hehehe. So this really helps! I found your channel a week ago and I love your work! your videos are amazing!! and I admire your vision! Saludos desde MĂ©xico
es el puto amo :)
Great tips. The small digital zoom is one I'm also using And is very effective. Great scenes too.
@@amityfilmmaking Correct, but to get around this is to shoot in a resolution above what is needed. So you may shoot in 4k if you want to digital zoom and the final render is in 1080p as an example.
Hi buddy, is this the same with dolly zoom?
I love seeing these tuts - thanks Brandon!
A creative and informative genius. You're the Ace in the pack mate

There is something awesome about the mystery of your work. It distinguishes you from all other CZcamsrs. As one creative to another, start an online film school and offer your tips, advice, and classes there because something of this value should cost a price! (I would sign up)
Thanks, there's only so much I want to teach publicly though
I respect it and glad to hear that! Everyone's videos look the same now and days. Your unique style and techniques are refreshing.. Glad to hear some things will remain a mystery.

Yes and no. It gives the effect of a dolly zoom but he is talking about using your editing software to zoom in by increasing the scale between two keyframes.
