I had ordered one that wasn't even delivered yet and while at the show in Vegas they were going to sell me a used one on the spot for 50 percent off. I was truthful and told me I had one on order that I would just return (unopened), then they were like, oh we cant sell you this one for a discount because you ordered one and will return it. WTH. So yea, customer service is TERRIBLE. Who does business like that??? I ended up returning the new one I ordered as well! No thanks!!!

Makes me realize that all of us schmucks who don't make a full-time living in videography or film, spending $1000s on lenses, bodies, accessories are silly when for under $1k you can have it all and a great image for your personal projects, travel/vacations, friends/family, passion projects, YT channels. No need for a z9, zve1, gh7, etc. all a joke sold by YT creators that we need an a7s3 to be "cinematic" the marketing psychology is real ... real billions!

The Sony has Super35 which would have matched the lenses better. Having 2 lenses mounted together is a recipe for problems. I have the SLR Magic 2X and it has the same problems you are pointing out. I don't see much advantage to using 2 lens groupings. A 2X lens should be just one lens for best results. The good news is that I only had to pay $350 for the SLR Magic NEW, on sale at B&H. What breaking a 2X lens into 2 parts does is let the lens manufacturer make a product that is defective and get away with it. Why would anyone want to buy a 1.33x anamorphic lens in the first place. It is harder to produce a fully functioning 2X anamorphic lens that it is to break it up into 2 lenses. You are being taken.

I just bought my first gimbal. What is the lock mode and how to use it? Does it mean, the gimbal does not move? There are situations when I don’t want the gimbal to react at all.

are you shoowing in manual or Auto? I tent to shoot manual at iso 100 with -0.3 but wondering if i should just select auto with auto ISO to 400 and call it the day. Love this camera.

Fantastic review. Great footage, very clear statement of pros and cons, and who the lens is best suited for. I'll add "price / performance" to the benefit list, compared to full set of anamorphic lenses (much cheaper!) or with other anamorphic adapters (much better visual quality). Something you didn't cover and I haven't heard mention: Does manual focus adjust BOTH the anamorphic adapter and the base lens, to get best performance across the whole focusing range? Or to minimize focus breathing? I would guess "yes", but I'd like to know more. Lastly: I really want to thank you for that last suggestion for using both anamorphic and spherical footage (appropriately cropped). That is probably my use case when I step up to this level of gear. I'll add that I probably won't buy the adapter due to the "capsule pill" bokha. I also don't have a compelling need given current and near future projects. But I'm looking forward to future versions and improvements.

@brandonliunscriped Look the "95mm clamp to M95x0.75 female thread adapter" from RafCamera => 95mm clamp to 95mm female thread. I ordered it, with a VND 95mm, hope it wont vignette on the 35mm. Btw, looks like it's not 1.7 squeeze to me, more or less 1.6 here

I am filming a few marching bands and can not use a drone as its centre of a city and wondered if buying an Insta x4 would be a good option to make drone type shots and some cool action shots together to complement the other shots on the Sony a7s iii ?
