good and all until somehow you scratch it (eventually will happen) and boom, foggy, blur shots from one side.
No way to replaced without damaging the insta 360 x3

I'm interested in surf photography. How is image quality affected shooting through the plastic case compared to without? Can we expect a cam anytime soon that won't need a dive case at all? I hope so.

Great ideas. Is the X3 not waterproof without the case? What is the advantage of the dive case over diving without the case?

The dive case allows the software to properly stitch the 360 videos. Without it, the stitch lines look funky in the videos due to light refraction in the water. The case also lets the camera go deeper into the water.
