Hey! I’m Christian Schaffer, and I’ve lived on the road full-time since May 2018. This journey began in 2013 when I left the corporate world to build my career as an outdoor adventure & travel photographer. After 14 months of SUV living - I bought the van I now call home. Van life enables me to experience and document the beauty of our natural world, while also having my home and office nearby. My hope is that by sharing my own personal highs and lows along this (sometimes) wild journey, you might be inspired to hit the road or spend more time outdoors. Maybe one day I'll see you out on that open road 🚐

Christian's work is so consistently good. Her cinematography and story telling is of major network quality. I hope she gets picked up by one of the big channels to produce documentaries or travel shows.

The invisible stick is really cool and simultaneously oddly disconcerting or at least distracting.... in a brain tickle sort of way.😂 Eventually, I'd stop noticing that it's "not there"!

Hi Christian - you're spoiling us with two full videos posted in the space of a week. Hope you're build is imputing some great ideas for the van make-over with some bespoke custom features (walk-in wardrobe 😁) The underwater shots are a great addition to your portfolio though the pink pastel clouds in the intro always welcome - I always enjoyed free diving off St Lucia photographing yellow tang fish off the reefs with a disposable under-water camera - some of the best shots ever! Your break from the van build looked so chilled and deserved.
Oh my, a walk-in wardrobe closet!! That would be something ☺️ I’ve never been to St Lucia, I bet the water is so beautiful out there!

Hey, Christian...I know this was primarily an instruction video (it was very informative), but it was also a little trip down memory lane for me as I lived at Tahoe for 7 years quite a while ago. I lived on the North Shore in the Crystal Bay/ Incline Village area and worked at the Hyatt. The sight of that deep blue water will always strike an awe inspiring nerve in me, as a day never went by that I didn't look out and marvel at the view, no matter the season. Great to see you.....all the best.....Jim

Watching the scene of loading and unloading a surfboard onto/from a van felt like seeing myself not too long ago!~ Carrying a 9-foot board around, a camper van is just the best!

@@ChristianSchaffer Yeah, that would be a sight to see! They're all so rounded so I assume at one point they were being carried and formed by glaciers. When the glaciers melted some were deposited in the lake bottom and some on the mountainsides, many of which rolled down into the lake. Tahoe water still looks very clean as it did years ago when I was there. Enjoy...

That part of Lake Tahoe holds a special place in my heart. I enjoyed a week there with the woman I absolutely loved but I had little kids on the East coast and she had a son in Sacramento. It couldn't work but I still love her and I yearn for time there with her. 😢

We'd love to see your van builder show what he has built into his van! Was Tahoe as cold as you thought it would be? We've been to Tahoe a couple of times but we never tried swimming it. It may be the most beautiful lake we've ever seen.
It’s normally ice cold but this time it was actually not too bad! And by that I mean still cold, but not freezing haha
