I’ve read from some cabin crew that they are being temporally downgrade to work in economic/business (depending if they usually work in business or first class respectively). Also, there is a lot of cabin crew with 2-3 years in company that are still economy when usually they would already be promoted to bussiness
Thank you for this information. I have just read that they are going to order 40 Boeing 787 Dreamliner. They are still expanding the fleet. So it is a little bit funny that they stop hiring. Maybe the good days of that company are gone.

I think it is important to realize that nobody really knows 100% what is happening unless you are an Emirates executive, and of course they might review things from month to month. What I don't get is are they actually cutting back on the number of flights ? In other words dropping unprofitable sectors. If the staff from business class are working in economy then who is working in Business ?
It is possible for Emirates to operate without hiring new cabin crew unitl Jan 2019. Most probable reason is a full merger with Fly Dubai in all areas of operation. This will allow them to integrate even in the area of cabin crew if FlyDubai has more staff than they need. They also might decide to operate aircraft with "minimum needed cabin crew" which i think usually reflects the number of emergency doors an aircraft has to match the decreasing cabin crew force. All in all the best thing to do is to have patience at some point they will start hiring and we'll get an opportunity to meet an interviewer and hand them our CVs to chase the dream.

+Kerişken Baykuş Hey 🙂 it counts to your retirement only if you have Emirati passport. You can fly as a cabin crew till you're 50 I guess. But I'm not sure what are the rules for applying for the citizenship in the UAE

Doro Kamer 🙂 they changed the rules some time ago and now you can apply before you're 21 but it should be not more then few months to your birthday, because you must be 21 when joining
