    I've never been a flight attendant, but I've been binge-watching a lot of these videos. And yes, I came to the same conclusion: it's a different country and different culture and not everyone is made for this job.

    This by far, was the best video about leaving Emirates. It is true that there is no such thing as a perfect job. ALL jobs really have the positives and the negatives. It just depends which side you dwell into. If you're happy, good for you. If not, then leave and move on with your life. Admit it or not, one way or the other it's still a job that helped you somehow to see the good in the bad like if you learned to surpass the difficult times, improve your character and traits as a person, get your bills paid on time and make a living. There is no point in being too bitter in a job that you once dreamed of and pursued for yourself. Happiness cannot be found solely in any company or landing this or that kind of job. It starts with yourself on how you perceive both the good and the bad in all things.

    You are a man so maybe you did not deal with the curfews, pregancy ban, sexualization, clients' sexual advances, make up reapplication rules the way female cabin crew do

    • @danonthisplanet
      @danonthisplanet  Před 6 lety +5

      It's true that males may not experience the same kinds of things the female crew have to go through, escpecially with sexual advances and make up rules. However, there is no curfew at Emirates. From what I hear, this kind of opression is much more commonplace at another big middle east airline.

    • @samthepoet107
      @samthepoet107 Před 6 lety +6

      +RandomPower you're correct. The rules are different for men. Two girls I know who got hired to work on the same cruise ship they had to report to their agency's office and stay there along with eight other women who got hired for about six weeks. They did a pregnancy test every week. A man could have gotten hired but he could go out and get a woman pregnant and the rules don't apply to him. Then one of the girls wrote me to say that the work got so difficult because two of the girls from their batch had to leave the ship. One got sick and the other one got pregnant. This was nearly a year after they left. She told me as soon as they started working on the ship some of the men were pressuring them, especially the younger girl who was 22-year old at the time to have sex. So I told her the only way that girl got pregnant was from a man on the ship she met. So now she is kicked off the ship going back to her country where they barely got any decent jobs just because she fell for bs from some man on the ship. So there are different rules for women.

    • @samthepoet107
      @samthepoet107 Před 6 lety +10

      +Dudu Yxl correct. I was speaking last night to a former flight attendant for Etihad. airlines she said if a passenger filed a complaint against a flight attendant that is grounds to be fired. They have lots of strict rules. Once the flight attendant passes 35 and over 40 they are removed from the flight service and put on ground crew. One has to be able to put themselves in the shoes of a woman to understand what their experiences are like.

    • @Germania72
      @Germania72 Před 6 lety +3

      @@purudc8105 It depends on what you want to do. In my case, coming from Chile, the money they paid me it was good enough. In the beginning I wanted to save money to pay for a second career. Then, I met my husband onboard, who was working in restaurant like me, and I used the money to move to Hungary. So we lived from that money long enough until I got my residence. Now we live in the UK and my husband studied refrigeration and air conditioning and I work in customer service (call centre). The point for me was that I was never able to travel before I joined the cruise ship company and I wanted to use my English as well. It has its negatives of course such as not having actual days off (I worked restaurant and then, bar), but I had the chance to be in places like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada.

    • @danonthisplanet
      @danonthisplanet  Před 6 lety +2

      Hey, yeah, it's both. They will check your health, but you also need to be fully vaccinated before you come. There is a list they give you of vaccines you need to get. You can actually get most of them after you join, but it's easier and probably better to get before you come. The one you MUST get BEFORE you arrive is yellow fever. The others are pretty standard...typhoid, hepatitis, tetanus/diphtheria etc...

    • @anj.7765
      @anj.7765 Před 6 lety +3

      Thanks for the response that help me a lot. I am now convinced I am not going to apply for sure. I have the standard vaccination done when child, but I do not have yellow fever, also I have been reading vaccines can cause autoimune disease. And in cog for life website you can check the hepatite B and hepA and measles mump and rubeolla are made with WI-38 or MCR-5 which are cell lines from aborted babies' organs... It is shoking, even though yellow fever is from a chicken embrio, and I am not going to have none of them done. Thanks bro

  • @sossoft
    @sossoft Před 5 lety +11

    The title is quite arrogant. You make a video that’s been made so many time as if you’re better than everyone and you go as far as dismissing their feeling? You’re a white male from UK/Ireland I assume so let’s just say the experience you had will differ from many others. I’ve been in UAE for much longer and though I may not agree with all the approaches, many points raise in other video were valid. You just made half of your video bashing others... There are a lot a very good benefits but it is true there are many downsides that won’t be listed on their website and many people join for that reason. It’s great those videos are there so people won’t come and spoiled others’ experience. But you can’t deny it is true that employees don’t have a word and are quite restricted which people translate as slave labor, there is systemic racism, sexist rules, reporting culture, no freedom of speech and much more and it’s only fair for it to be highlighted if someone feels like.
    Such a long video just to say in a matter of few seconds you left because you can’t have a family here and oh you felt too comfortable? Well not everyone’s has the possibility to leave before having a family because of commitments and it is a challenge has there is next to no support if you are pregnant such as if it happens when your husband is not in UAE, you won’t get living out allowance but you need to have a tenancy contract if you want to sponsor him plus the company will freeze your salary once you declare it. You face being reported if you go to the hospital. Only pursers have a better package. Things changed over the years and it’s rather arrogant and dismissive to say that because you stayed four years and longer than few others your simplistic opinion is more valid. I don’t know anyone personally nor I’ve met any of those who has made a YT video about Emirates, but even though I still very much enjoy my job, I’ve learn not to judge others feelings as they’ve had a different experience which others can relate to.

    Hi. Many Emirates cabin crew are talking about salary. ......but all are saying various things. ....you seems to be honest and so kind.....can you give me some numbers please? How much is the basic salary? How much is per hour - economy class. How many hours did you fly in a month...generally. .....We are talking about the new ones....

    How much Qatar pay? Is it better Emirates?
    By the way until what age cabin crew can work there? (I think when you're reach 48 they kick you out)
    And can u go around the city or it's all controlled (where u go, curfew, others)?

    • @LaiilaUAE
      @LaiilaUAE Před 5 lety

      qatar emirates and etihad offer similar packages. you will earn as a new crew in economy class approx 2600 usd, depends how many flying hours you do. Accommodation is free but you will share with 1 or 2 crew. if u r married, u get live out allowance based on your grade. contracts are for 3 years and are not renewed automatically. Renewal is based on your performance. retirement age is 60 but very few stay until such an age. Its too tiring to stay that long.

    It still from non negative videos, an airline that gas about a 3-5 year burn out period. It may be a high end airline, but not very many employees stay there very long. Muslim nation are very poor employers. All western people who are used to a free country , will struggle or not handle a Muslim country.
    It sounds like servatude. You sign up for 3 tears if servatude. Some can handle it most cannot.

    Hey! nice to know the experience... but i would liek to know your opinion, since am working for low coast airline we dont really travel around the world. however the autmoshpere is amazing. we have no pressure and u fill relaxed at work. u dont think that _ohh gosh am going for flight tmrw.. i wanna be home and rest/sleep..... so its very comfortable and you dont feel like your working. no stress!.......... i would like to join EK only for layovers, not for salaries or other benefits.. only laoyver.. what would u suggest? sometimes i think u dont get time guys to explore around.. and then i think maybe i can be happy ay my airline and go to travel on my money instead... of having stress in emirates ? ...

    • @danonthisplanet
      @danonthisplanet  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment! Yeah, the atmosphere might be a little more strict at Emirates, but they do have very high standards, so that is to be expected. However, it's not always like that. You do have amazing, relaxed flights with awesome crew every now and again. The layovers are amazing. That is something I will definitely miss! That was the main reason I joined, to travel the world! I would say go for it if you are interested, you wont regret it. Why use your own money to travel when they can pay you to do it? Also, being in Dubai is a perfect location to visit many places on your days off or leave. Especially with the staff discount on tickets. We dont get a huge amount of time to explore on layovers, but I always found it to be okay to go out and do things. Also, you can go back to the same destination many times, so you can explore a different place on each visit. If you are interested, you should apply. Good Luck!

      thanks for a quick reply :) :) bcz i met EK crews and one of them joined air arabia now, and my friend is in air arabia too. i was in duba i dont like the life there at all. I hate it!!! and asking EK crew why arabia ? he said " tired from long flights & doing same layovers and being monited by Seniors not to be reported and always having a feeling like ...i have work tmrw -_- ..and enjoying laoyvers yes..but only for like 5months... then it became normal to him, bcz same places, and now u start to feel the flights cz u always work standing. AND I KNOW HOW UR FEET R CRYING AFTER ......awr... he was with ek for 4y too like you :) and i asked my friend from Arabia to ask EK crew if i should join.... he said company is nice, but going only for layovers..like. i gonna spend some months now on interviews...and studying again.... and its all gonna waste time, and its better if i work another 2 months save this money and i can see the world same way but with no rush.... bcz my company pays me well, good discounts to travel the world...and am happy.. but only laoyvers ((( i feel lost to be honest. and i know the more people i ask n listen the more confused i will be.. =_= and when my friend meets other EK crew who resigned after 6months-1-3y they say "ur silly if u wanna have only layovers, bcz company is not only ab being strict to you.. it is somehow.. its just crew want to report for any reason..and well yeah, my friend also did a flight with EK and waiting to go to LAV she heard EK cc telling to other cc "u know that cc is taking rest" - " aha.. report her '' ..... so you always feel ur monitored n afraid to say smth or forget to smile and here we go. report -_
