Keeping track of characters, world building, writing, and everything in between is one of the great pains of being a writer, and so I'd like to introduce you to Campfire Blaze. Series bibles are not only important but if you write science fiction or fantasy, they can be story savers. And if you're a plotter like me, story planning software is an essential part of the writing process. And so I'm always excited when new writing software or story planning apps pop up. And I am especially excited to give you this Campfire Blaze demo because I've been truly enjoying this brand new cloud app and I can't wait to see where the Campfire Technology team takes it.
Campfire Blaze is a cloud application designed by writers, for writers, and is loaded up with tools that will help you with outlining, character sheets, writing, collabing with critique partners and beta readers, worldbuilding, maps, timelines, and so much more. And the team is just getting started, with tons of cool stuff slated for future release, including offline-capable mobile and desktop applications. Now this video is not a Campfire Blaze review, but is rather a Campfire Blaze Overview / Guide, where I'm going to focus mostly on highlighting all of the features of the product so you can decide for yourself if it's right for your particular brand of writing.

I've been debating whether or not to use Campfire Blaze and this overview was detailed enough to make me want to finally give it a try. Thanks, Megan!
That's awesome!! If you have any questions or hit any issues make sure to drop a comment and maybe I can lend a helping hand
Part of my thinks this will be a great tool to keep organized, while the other part thinks I'll spend more time finicking with the different tabs than actually writing. I'll still give it a shot, I guess
Ive tried several writing tools. and yes, though I find them stimulating one can easily waste time trying to learn a program than actually writing a story.
But this tool has some fascinating categories that can really keep you organized and eliminate paper notes
Goodbye mountains of One Note compilations, Word documents, and spiral notebooks! TT_TT
Dude, this made little writers heart so happy, I can't wait to look into it and see if this is going to help me
I was looking for the colour of a characters shirt, but I'm still glad I found this video.
Yeah I'm not sure if Blaze will help you find the color of a character's shirts but it can certainly help you store that info so it's easy to find later. I'm happy you liked the video!
you always have the best toys for me! I've been wondering how in the world I was going to keep track of the language I'm working on for my book. Super excited!
You should let me know how it goes! I have 0 context for making languages lol. But that dictionary/translation search capability looked mighty useful. Making languages seems so interesting. Maybe I'll have a good reason to make one someday
@@CloudKitten honestly, I just started throwing letters together that looked alright. I'm leaving the structure close to English bc it's what I know. But I've only started with a few words and phrases.
My stories take FOREVER to write so I'm kind of excited to see the app develop as my story does! This is going to be really cool.
Using this for the first time so I can have stuff for my first ever webtoon ready, this video is really helpful :D
May I just say...
THANK YOU!
This was very helpful!
I'm so glad!
Thank you for this. Someone told me about this ap a couple of weeks ago and well started looking into it and the furstrating thing was information on it was surprisingly hard to find. Reviews, demos, anything. But this vid helped answer all my questions and actually Campfire looks like something I want to give a try. Thank you.
Yay! Love all your videos and this was no exception. I'd used pro and felt limited and confused. Now I definitely want to try out Blaze. Looks like they've made so many great improvements, and I'm very happy to see they fix the bugs quickly. Bugs are evil >:) Thanks so much for all the time and effort you spent in making this for us.
Awwww thank you!!! I definitely agree. Blaze is just so streamlined and they're working so hard to refine it wherever they can. I'm super excited and have actually started building up my projects (including some Seventh River book 3 work 🔥)
Omg your bookshelf is my dream. So cool.
Did you just say "irregardless"? You know they only added that to the dictionary because so many people used it ... it was never actually a word. LOL
Other than that, great review. I really enjoyed it and you have a great sense of humour. Thanks for the tour of Campfire Blaze.
I love using it!
This was a really great feature rundown thanks and well done!
Wow okay, you've convinced me, I'm def trying this out
That's awesome! Let me know if you have any questions and I can take a crack at helping out. Also let me know if you discover any cool, out of the box ways to use the tools and modules
Oh my god this is amazing!!! While I do love writing down my ideas in notebooks to get them down easier (and when I'm on the bus or train or waiting somewhere) this will be GREAT for actually organizing and building upon the ideas. Thanks for doing this demo, it really showcases everything I would need to be convinced to use it. I especially love the pricing features, definitely gonna get the lifetime option later down the line!
You are so very welcome!! I'm so happy you found this helpful. Hopefully you mesh well with the tool. I can definitely see it being super useful for jotting things down on the go. I don't go many places but am excited for the mobile version so I can quickly document ideas in the shower and while half asleep lol. My handwriting when I am half asleep might as well be an alien language.
Thank you for the video. Very interesting and exactly what I wanted.
You are so very welcome. And thank you for the comment
I have the old campfire pro, a few gripes, no spell checker, now I have a manuscript writer software program that is separate but I am curious, if the new campfire blaze has a decent spell checking program, and is in any way better to my manuscript program I already have. Over all I am luke warm with the pro version, it's annoying to import to word to spell check my work, but it's not the end of the world either. I use out source map programs to draw my maps, so making maps aren't something I'd use anyways.
This video is great, by the way, knowing that I can see that you have info for book 2 is killing me lmao XD
I even have info for book 3 in there now but that was full of way too many spoilers for book 2 so I couldn't use it much in the demo lol. But my alpha has started Red River and hopefully I can start betas very soon @.@
@@CloudKitten I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Also, glad you and hubby are doing well :)
Hey! I'm actually using Campfire Blaze for a current project, but I'm having trouble putting my manuscript chapters into folders. Could you perhaps explain how that works a bit more?
You know if the are a program for status circle for characther creation page, like jojo stand for example
Just saw your bookshelf on Daniel Greene s roasting video lol
He really didn't hold his punches lol
Hey i remember your bookshelf from Daniel Greene's roosts!
My true legacy
@@CloudKitten yeah it stuck in my mind because you have a 10/10 shelf.
does blaze have any formatting tools for publishing?
Not at the moment. It's currently focused more on the creation stage than publication, though it does have tools for sharing writing with the community to get feedback and fans.
I bought the standard Campfire before Blaze came out. Still have to use it (I am very lazy). I like what Blaze improved upon Campfire Pro, but I really don't like the pricing. Too high and convoluted.
Since you bought pro before Blaze came out you do get 3 free months if you're interested in playing around, and you can export your project to Blaze so you can play around with what you already have. I personally love the customizability levels of the subscription and wish more places did it, but I can see how it might bother some people.
@@CloudKitten Thank you for your reply. I will look into that more, as soon as I have done my Uni work. Maybe it's something for me, and if not, I still have Pro then :)
When is this app going to come out??
The mobile app was pushed to Winter, but the desktop app with offline mode capabilities is (as of the August update) slated for Fall 2021. There's a monthly update that goes up where they usually provide an update. You can join it as a newsletter or see it on the page www.campfiretechnology (dot) com/news/.
12:20 as a conlanger, i can assure you, no one truly understands english, aside from the fact that it generally sucks.
id prefer offline work because i dont want the site to shut down one day and me lose all my stuff in their no longer existent servers. guess im waiting until june
So it won't work on an phone, only on an actual pc... great....
They're working on a mobile version which is slated for release sometime in Fall of this year
All I need to know is lifetime options.
It's so rare in subscription services and so helpful
Could you adapt the “Magic” module to science? That would fit the science fiction world?
Absolutely. Really all the modules are extremally adaptable. The presets won't be worded for science fiction, but if you take the time to arrange things how you like you can save it as a template to use later. And the attributes section that is more module specific and is intended to make info entry easier does have options that are relevant to science-fiction (like footwar, outerwear, method of practice, eligibility, source, etc).
And then there's also the item and encyclopedia panels which are pretty generalized. And the research pannel could get some good use in sci-fi. Really all the modules are so customizable that as long as you use templates you can set them up for any and all world-types.
sorry, but I clicked "Overly Sarcastic Productions" instead of Cloud Kitten
Please forgive we
OSP is pretty great. You are forgiven.
It looks like it might be a great tool- but I'm afraid I came here for a demo of how to use the product's features, and what I found was more of an extended review. Appreciated, but not what I was looking for, especially after specifying in the intro that it wasn't really meant to be a review.
I'm sorry to hear this isn't quite what you were looking for. I'm afraid a tutorial would have been 2 hours long easily given all the modules and that doesn't really fit my channel. But you can find tutorials for individual modules at czcams.com/channels/FQbdukCiL4Z-UjT5JSC-sQ.html
Trying to figure out why you are yelling! Try talking naturally and a little more intimately, and you won't sound like a strangulated budgerigar. I wanted the information but all the effervescent hyper-energy fake pose stuff really got to be too much at 6 minutes. Why?
