    Fun Fact: In the navy, sometimes naval servicemen will wear an eyepatch so that when the vessel they're serving on goes "dark" they already have one eye that's adjusted to the dark so they can continue working with no lag time because they don't have to wait for both eyes to adjust. So as funny as "not needing" an eyepatch is, it can actually serve a purpose. Meaning your comedic moment can prove accidentally/intentionally useful if the lights happen to suddenly go out in another scene.

    "Oh but I do"
    "You're gonna get in trouble"
    "I am dressed as a lady. Who's gonna find me?"
    "Well the beard....."
    Yes.....this is in my head now.

    Creating an Encyclopedia is super interesting! I'm writing a fantasy novel with different countries and cities and towns and even different species (humans, werewolves, vampires, and wixen, along with animals) and I'm already struggling to map everything out, lol. Campfire Blaze seems cool, I might consider using it. Love the video!

    Dnd is the best for creativity and just pushing that desire to tell a story. It was because of it that i started writting and am currently on the second self-published book from a trilogy based on my dnd game. It's great and even if it fails, i think it is still a great gift for my players!

    This sounds like so much fun! I used to write my D&D campaigns based on stories I was writing at the time and test the theme out on my friends. Some of the random things that ended up happening were really funny. It's so lovely you get to do this with your brothers.

  • @AdventuresInFantasy
    @AdventuresInFantasy Před 3 lety +1

    I'm working on a series bible for an experiment project I'm currently working on (in standard campfire). I'm having a lot of fun with it although some of it is frustrating. I know a lot of people have problems with Campfire, but I really like it. I mean I wish it were a bit more intuitive, but it has what I need.
    I played D&D once and frankly it was not a good time because there was a lot of nepatism and frankly inappropriate things going on that made me uncomfortable. I want to try again if I can find a group and I started writing a oneshot to go along with one of my stories. Silly but I thought it would be a cool thing for people. Plus it could argueably stand alone (without the books).
    I can't pick a favorite writer but when I think about world building I think of Tolkien. I love just how much world there is. You could skip all the appendixes and read the books without it or be me and scoure all the extra stories, family trees, etc. Haha.
    These characters are fascinating. I never thought to novelize a game like that even though it makes sense. I mean it is basically a story anyway so it would work well. I will probably end up getting blaze if I end up with multiple computers that I work on. Right now I only have one so it isn't a big deal so long as I back up files. I have recently realized I need to make timelines... I have no sense of time/flow.

  • @mercurialthrills9011
    @mercurialthrills9011 Před 3 lety

    Creating a story bible is quite fun. It was more of a worldbuilding encyclopedia though, because worldbuilding and understanding the magic system had the most importance.
    I definitely agree with how D&D, and other TTRPGs can help people become better writers. Playing as a character can help improve how one writes their characters and their actions. It seems to place the player in the perspective of a character being gradually introduced to the world and other characters, in a similar way to reading. When I first started playing D&D, I started thinking of my characters in a different way, as well as the story itself and how it should be gradually revealed.
    I can't wait until this pandemic ends so I can play D&D without the intense stress of voice calls, learning how to use Roll20, and general confusion as I'm still a new-ish player.

  • @elizalagonia1049

    Funny and slightly useless fact about eye patches. The eye patch was worn more by the Navigator, especially a night navigator because it takes time for the brain to adjust sight to darkness, I think it's a couple of hours, so the Navigator would wear an eye patch so seeing out of that eye would already be adjusted to the darkness and could see any dangers ahead in the middle of the night. Then the next morning he would switch since the brain already got used to seeing in light, which takes a shorter amount of time about 5-10 minutes depending on eye sight to fully adjust.
