    Just purchased Campfire Pro after experiencing another Scrivener “fun”. AND because I wanted to try it because of your video! Thank you 💐...AND, in the course of the installation routine, I was asked how I found out about campfire; you appeared in the list of possible ähm,... sourcerers🤗 which is no surprise! Your videos are immensely helpful! In my experience, writing depends strongly on circumstances! Thus, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a writer in possession of a good idea is in want of a cloud kitten video. 💐

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry about that. Slow talking means I cut the script or make a longer video. Cut script means less content for you lovely people, longer video means no one clicks on the video and the algorithm buries is never to be heard of again. It's hard to find balance

    I tried the demo last month, and fell in love with the magic section and character arcs systems. Due to the cost of adding on the worldbuilding pack, I was on the fence about getting it, but you pushed me over the edge to get it! Also, I have to say that it's fantastic to see someone who is still happy with the program even though Blaze is being released, there's far too much negativity towards the developers over their choice to start the new program in lieu of the original.

    Why would they not support PNG? I'd think the transparency feature in PNG is invaluable for some pictures to blend in well as well as the lossless no blocky artefacts being desirable. Or at least support webp or whatever. GIF is also great for line art. Vector image (svg) too for logos.
    Know what? They should support whatever the browser supports.
    Campfire Technologies, hit me up. I think I could implement that in a week, depending what you made the software in.

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 4 lety

      I'll admit I was pretty surprised. Though I can forgive the lack of webp support since even Adobe products somehow don't have that yet *cries*. Though I think Adobe is avoiding it because it's a format Google created and is pushing? Anyways, yeah PNG is high up on the list for me, especially given I almost never save to jpeg because of how lostfull it is

    I use World Anvil after seeing you show its use as a series bible and I've really enjoyed using it. I've actually been looking at Campfire for a while and I definitely see how it offers more than WA. Having used both do you have anything that you like more in WA/anything WA has that Campfire doesn't?

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 4 lety +4

      World Anvil does worldbuilding and series bibles much better, but they don't have the character arc change over time feature and I don't think their timelines can be used to outline as well as Camfire's can. They both have their strengths and it really depends on what you're looking for. I'll be using both (Wordl Anvil as my series bible and Campfire for outlining and character arcs) and if you can afford it that's my recomendation.

    • @senesterium
      @senesterium Před 4 lety +1

      Campfire has the potential to do so much more than what it seems to at first.
      On example, character sheets.
      So you create your character in both. Not gonna lie, World Anvil is definitely more handy.
      Now you want to add a lot of informations about things that aren't part of the template. What do you do ?
      In World Anvil, like anywhere else, you'd just put it in the miscellaneous section and that's all about it. Easy, straightforward.
      In Campfire, on the other hand, you can actually add new blocks for your sheet.
      So… sur you already know that, its featured in the video, what is my point ?
      What's not showed in the video is that you can :
      1) Create an empty template from any sheet layout, and reuse it for any further characters who'll need the same template (ex : a wizard template with a spell table)
      2) Make it default. Now on, everytime you'll create a new character, the empty layout won't be the original one, but the one you adapted to your story's characters.
      WorldAnvil is easier, and quite faster. But I wouldn't say it's more powerful.

      Ah, but you see there is a genius to it. Every time I go looking for a book I have to read every spine to find it, which means I'm reminded of all the books on my shelves I still haven't read, so then when I go to buy more books, I can feel sufficiently guilty about doing so. It's an utterly flawless system, I mean, besides it taking 5x longer to find a book.

    Soooooo are you actually using Campfire? I'm thinking about it.... But, like, Word Anvil? Scrivener?

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 3 lety

      Truth be told I've been bad and using nothing lately. I'm working on finishing up the sequel to Aletheia and then the 3rd and final book so the worlsbuilding is mostly in my head. But I personally still lean towards World Anvil for wolrdbuolding and Campfire for outlining and character arcs.
      Though it's also worth noting that Campfire just released Blaze which is their brand new web app. I haven't tried it yet so that may change my preferences.
      And then word and Scriviner are more apps to write in, not track worldbuilding and information. So I use Google docs for my actual writing. But I have heard good things about Scriviner. I just couldn't handle the design of their PC user interface last time I tried it, and I haven't convinced myself to give it another go.
