    I love World Anvil so much! The community is really great :D And they're going to be coming out with an update for writers adding more features that they're working on with Chris Fox - they talk about it in their latest author interview :)

    This is awesome! You do a great job analyzing and explaining all the features. Thank you for featuring Ethnis!
    If anyone has any questions about how to use WA, including how to do all the cool CSS tricks and all that, join the community and give me a ping!

    I had never heard of World Anvil so I was going to pass this video by... Until I saw it was from you. I swear I'd watch you talk for 20 minutes about socks lol

    Great video, very informative! Thank you so much for featuring Ethnis. And as I think Ademal said below the community is very helpful, myself included!

    I love how quickly you went over everything! I've just started using WorldAnvil and know very little about it but I hate tutorials because they are typically so in depth and long that I get bored

      That's awesome!! My aim was to demo it because I figured if people were looking for full tutorials there are tons out there, but I wanted to get the word out to writers who didn't know about it existing. So I'm happy to hear it worked out :D

    I think I might use this for my current work. I've created a whole new world and this might help me keep everything all in one place vs thousands of sticky note. :)

    Could you make a video about Campfire Writing and how it compares to World Anvil

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před rokem

      I've actually covered Campfire Writing already (It's from launch so it's labeled as Campfire Blaze as that's what they launched the web version under). I am frequently sponsored by Campfire though so I wouldn't really feel right doing a direct comparison video between them and a major competitor. I'd worry viewers would take my attempt at objectivity with too many grains of salt and that would end up skewing sentiment. I'll think about it though.

    Don't mean to be that Debby downer but World Anvil didn't work out great for me. maybe i lowed roll on my int checks to understand it. but the website felt more confusing than the time sink it would take to start to gleam any value. gotta be real as I really wanted good help with my first time DM-ing and this honestly wasn't it for me.

      I appreciate this. No single software works for everyone. Truth be told the product changed a lot after I made this video and at some point my adhd stopped being able to keep up with all the major changes the site was going through. I still think a lot of people could be well-served by it, but personally all the added buttons and wording from the DND side of things made it a touch too overwhelming. Though to be fair I have yet to find a worldbuiding software that never overwhelms me.

    How many words are possible per article (of a city for example) and how many articles can we have?

      As far as I can tell, there's no cap.

    would world anvil work on my desktop computer, not just a phone app? also, i'm a published author of space opera. does the program will have the ability to handle dozens if not hundreds of worlds and alien cultures? also, once signed up, can you go back n forth between subscription levels?

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 4 lety

      Sorry I missed this earlier. World Anvil actually isn't an app at all, it's a web app so you need to use it in browser. It's basically a website. That means all your data is stored in the cloud and you can access it from anywhere but it does mean you always need an internet connection. If you want something you can download onto your desktop and use without internet you can check out another video I did on Campfire which is downloadable. Both can handle hundreds of entries and in terms of World Anvil if you're doing month to month you can change your subscription level at any time.

    Do you still use World Anvil?

    • @CloudKitten
      @CloudKitten  Před 4 lety +1

      Sure do. Though I do wish I'd been using it from the start because I do still have a TON of notes to transfer and have been putting it off because the task is so big. But I have another series I'm worldbuilding and have used WA from the start on it and it's been a great reference place, and am slowly filling out the info for my post-apoc series so I can use the site as promo and for people to refresh on the series and characters for the sequel.
